I just got Linux set up (I hear that it's easier) on another PC that I can SSH
into and do my
development there.
Once I get KOS (CVS) set up, I'll try to get this project on the road. Since
you're the only one
who expressed interest in helping, do you know how to set up a CVS account such
as sourceforce so
that we can collaborate on the code? I'm relatively new to CVS. =P
The dcdev list is pretty friendly, so I assume that we can get help there. I've
been reading the
messages for quite a while and the only thing that seems to be a problem is the
VMU save support. =\
Hopefully we can get this worked out.
Since I've only tried out the demos on the VMUscript homepage, I can't call
myself a real
VMUdevver... =\ What I'd like to know is what the average size of a VMUscript
program runs. The
only thing I'm worried about is if the VMU (or other memory card) will have
enough space to save the
code...
Anyway, anyone want to help me get started?

VMU uploads must have the proper MIME types to work with DreamKey and
DreamPassport.

As far as I know, homebrew DC development has been around the same length of
time if not longer than
the homebrew VMU development. Check out dcdev@yahoogroups.com and Marcus' site.
I'm not sure how
hard it would be to port all of the tools necessary over to the DC from PC as I
haven't even looked
for the source. I was just trying to get a general idea of a want/need for this
kind of project.
I knew about the various DC to PS/2 adapters available, but I don't know if they
are very popular.
The few people I know that actually have a DC do not own a DC keyboard or a DC
to PS/2 adapter.

think, has created a little device that allows you to use a standard PS2
(the computer standard NOT playstation 2) keyboard on the dreamcast.
There should be a way to do that, first you will need a device that will

At this time, there's no way to save variables to

The push / pop commands manipulate the stack by
adding / removing data from the stack respectively
(they're exact copies of the original asssembler
mnemonics).
You shouldn't worry about these commands, but they
come in handy sometimes when you need a temporary
place to store data.
A common use for push and pop is to switch the
values of variables.
EXAMPLE: to switch the values of a and b

I've just finished "translating" the C code into VMU Script. It uses
Bresenham's algorithm (from IBM 1965) to draw any line anywhere! It
is pretty fast, too.

If you're talking about background music or complex
sound effects, you have to program that yourself.
However, the 'play' command plays any frequency in the
background until you use the 'stop' command.

You will need:
The Compiler,
the Assembler,
and the Emulator.
All of these programs are conveniently available at
the VMU Script page :-)

Download the 'Hello' example and be sure to look at
the command reference page and the concepts page to
get some ideas of how to use the compiler.
And PLEASE visit Marcus's or Maushammer's site to
get some technical help, or a lot of the VMU stuff

site finished updating. If you just downloaded version 1.74, you did
not receive the full version and it will NOT work right.

Actually I got more from the logic game.
I have a low level of programing for the PC so I get most of the commands
(loop,if - end if,etc.)
But for the VMU you have to make your own fonts,and that is where im stuck right
now.
I already get how to clear the screen and how the "hello world" program clears
the screen and prints in two parts with xbnk.
I just want to know how to put my own version of small fonts on the VMU LCD,I
guess I'm going to start mesing with the "small font" program.
