latest software) it even uses the same cable as the Nexus cards. It's
basicly a little device that you can plug up to two memory cards at once
of any type into, and transfer files on to and off of them.
Aside from that, I believe someone wrote a tool that you can burn to a
CD and run on your DC to copy protected files between VMU's. You might
want to look for that if that's your only problem.

I don't have any experience with the nexus card, but I thought that was
a valid way of doing the transfer. Maybe someone else can help?
My VMU2PC program is a bit dated - it was developed under a 366MHz PII
running windows 98. If you've got an old machine similar to this, then
I'd say it's a good way to go. Otherwise, you may have some problems.
The program has some processor-speed specific timing loops, so a 2 GHz
machine will be too fast. (I tried to do it hardware-speed independent,
but I couldn't get the microsecond precision I needed. I could have
done a calibration loop at the beginning (like turbo C does), but I
didn't) Also, Windows 98 is pretty close to DOS - any NT-based OS
probably won't let you play with the hardware at a low level like I do
(I think there is some program that does this; it's probably been
written for PIC programmers). And, NT may mess with the timing some if
it gets a higher-level interrupt.
Even with my original system, the program wasn't perfect. It took some
chicken bones and mystical incantations to get it to work, but once I
got into a groove (something like unplug, plug, then transfer), it was
reliable.

and forgot the name, sorry :-) It took me quite a while to recover the login and
password for this account since I did not use it for a long time, even though I
read the
digest always.
It is still good to see that the DC is not dead yet. I can verify that on
virtuamunstaz.de
where still a lot of people use the vmu data creator online.
I switched off some of the lesser used web tools and made usage a little more
restrictive to prevent further spam.

Or is there a way to copy files to the vmu with dclinux? Then I could
try to write a little Program that shows a menu and Uploads this file.
But i think a dc binary without linux should be doable too. And if
undel linux it would be a better idea if someone with a keyboard tries
that.
This would be a good way to upload games for people that don't have a
serial cable (like me) and for changing vmu games fast.
Anyway if we'd had the source of a Programm that can move one specific
file to the vmu than maybe we could add a menu to it. Another way
would be to use a boot menu like DC Hakker and compile a binary with
the vms name vompiled in for every game on the disc. So does anyone
know of Sources that could be Useful? Or does anyone already know hom
to to such a thing?

VM access and transfer are way too slow to be of any use as a
replacement for standard RAM.
More over, I do not recall about any VM with more than 512 kilobytes
(the four-pages ones).
Everybody knows that Dreamsnes lags really bad, well i was thinking
what if you could load the roms from the vmu and bypass the DC's ram.
There's that 16 or 24m mega vmu that can connect to a computer, you
download the roms onto the vmu and Dreamsnes would have more of the
DC's ram which could speed up emulation. I don't know if this has
been tried or not but i thought what hell i'll post anyway.

i built the link (atleast 3 times now) with different voltage dividers
for those lines that require them.
now... i know its got to be something i am doing wrong.... i still
cant download a VMS file to the VMU. the hardware (voltage dividers),
every version of them, all hit the 3.3 to 3.5v marks for the signal
voltage. not a issue, this is why i think i might be misusing
sendfile.exe.

Also a port of VMU Script, the language for programming the VMU could be
added to all that, so using the keyboard and VMU Script a minigame could be
written on screen then compiled and saved to the VMU, wow you idea is great
indeed, but alas, i have zero programming experience, so it`s up to any one
else in this list to make it, maybe we could support as bug reporters and
beta testers...

the program being run displayed on the TV as well as on the VMU
loaded into the DC controller...
- it would would have to load from and save to the VMU in the DC
controller so that the emulator could be used to play the minigames
associated with specific games and acctually affect them (aka skies
of arcadia/sonic adventure 2), so I don't have to buy another battery
- it would have to emulate up to 4 VMU's simultaneousely and support
linking between the VMU's in 2 controllers as well as a virtual VMU
controlled by one of the other controllers...
- is should include all the copying/deleting funtions that are
standard to the VMU interface built into the DC...
- it should allow for upload and download via FTP for VMU files
(including appropriate conversion), so one can avoid purchasing new
Memory cards by backing files up online..
- and for good measure it should have a simple graphics editor that
would let people create and change those VMU image things...
All in all, if it's at all possible it seems like it would make a
very useful tool, and seeing as their are so many people out their
playing with codeing the DC and VMU it seems like it would have
already been done by now... I unfortunately don't have much
experience with programming and stuff so I wouldn't know where to
even start looking for this kind of stuff.
anyways... it's an idea I like to dream about and if you have any
suggestions where I should start looking for the steps I should take
to start creating this kind of stuff I would greatly appreciate it (I
have a couple really good programming buddies who are just itching
for the opportunity to code something useful)

nstaz work with all dc browsers, but, i don't know t

also, i am pretty sure cjayc has dc saves at gamefaq
s set up work with all dc browsers... he may or may
not be accessible for info...

VMU.EXE - vmu data creator (c) 1999,2000 by VirtuaMUnstaz
Using the -i option, the .VMI looks okay ( vms type : GAME($3) /
Checksum : SEGA:ok AGES:failed ), as does a hex dump, and the DC
definitely makes a GET request ro the server for the correct file.

What are you using to generate the VMI files from the VMS files?
There needs to be a checksum etc. in the VMI file.
On another note, I've got downloads to work fine with PlanetWeb, but
when I try to download files with DreamPassport it pops up an error
message in japanese after downloading the file. I can't read
japanese :) Does anyone have any experience with getting downloads
to work with DreamPassport as well as PlanetWeb?
