Well, it's still a game of skill, of fast skill ;-)
I must admit that it gets very fast on a real VMU, I wanted it that
way. Usually it's faisable to finish it, since I do it most of the
times.

It's quite simple, actually, but it does the thing nicely.

I love your script!
Since it was out,it has help me undestand they way the VMU works.
And most of what I know is because of your source examples.
One question
Why don't you release all the stuff you make?
I have seen on virtuamunstaz a lot of cool things, like the space invaders type
game and songs.
It will be great to have all those source files.
My only working program is a PSO ID Calculator also found on virtuamunstaz.
it's my first game/program and Im working hard on getting a few others to work.
I know someday this experience will help me better understand how more complex
game systems work =)

BTW does ELIZA have a save to flash feature?
Will anyone find out about "our" conversations?

Hey! I just played the PAPER game.
It gets tooo fast when you destroy over 50 rocks.
It's a good game of skill, but then it becomes a game of luck.
Maybe adding a few extra boms will even things.
They scrolling effect is cool

If anyone remembers the old AI therapist Eliza...
It was originally written in LISP which was then translated into
BASIC, and from BASIC into VMU Script!
Yes, you can now talk to your VMU... sort of.
Since the VMU obviously has no keyboard, you have to cycle through
the letters by pressing up and down. The left and right keys are
backspace and space respectively and the A key functions as the enter
key.
The program should be exactly the same, except that I had to remove
the conjugation portion due to lack of memory. It uses the text
engine that I developed next year with a little enhancements.
ANYWAY - you can download the game itself from your dreamcast or pc
at http://www.virtuamunstaz.de/vmi.jsp

I've also updated the compiler a bit, it hasn't been uploaded yet

Hello,
I've setup a little page tonight with 4 Visual Memory games I have
developped in the past. They were intended for inclusions in a commercial
Dreamcast game but finally were not included for technical reasons. Then
I got the permissions to publicly release them, and here they are :)

Notice that they're not all finished, and it's nothing spectacular
anyway. But those who are curious about the VMS may want to give them
a quick try.

Sorry, but you're not answering my question at all =)
(I know how you make a screen capture. Let's admit that my first post
wasn't soooo clear)
Anyway, I've hacked the DOS version of the emulator a bit, and should
be able to slow down the emulator to take the images I want.
Thanks!

I think the windows emu it's call DirectVMS and it's found on dcemulation.com
There you can change the size of the window.
I don't remember the name of the picture taking program very well.
I think it's call snag it,it has the option of saving pictures of entires
screens or just individual windows and saving them on different image formats.
Hello,
I'm ready to release 4 littles games for the VMS, that I actually
made a long time ago and couldn't release for some reason (that I'll
explain soon).
Nothing terrible, but I wanted to make a little page about them, and
take screenshots. Unfortunately, the SoftVMS emulator for DOS runs
really too fast, I believe it doesn't handle HALT mode & interrupts
very well. Increasing the speed parameter doesn't help :(
I searched and couldn't find the Windows port, any idea where I can
find it ? Any other ideas how could I make pictures ?
(I would have used the official emulator from Hudson Soft but sadly
I only have the raw .VMS files left so the games are unusable with
this emulator.)

What's the MOST limiting (or hard to
work with) thing about the VMU?
o LCD size - I hate this miniscule 48x32 resolution!
o LCD colors - only 2 colors! How can I do anything in b/w?
o RAM size - I want to make a huge RPG for this thing! And no space to do it!
o 2-player - I want 4-player! How do I program for 2-player?
o Number of buttons - How can I make my killer fighting game with only 4
buttons and a D-pad?
o Other - you didn't list it here, silly!
o Nothing! This thing is my dream platform!

The Java support in Planetweb 3 is actually quite decent...
I couldn't get it to run any of the Java based emulators for NES, or Arcade,
(didn't try the VMU one... It's got a decent chance of working) but several
game applets, and even the AIM Quickbuddy Applet loaded on it, and I was
able to connect to my AIM account. (But since the DC doesn't support popups,
I couldn't send or receive IM's)
Anyway, If someone posts the URL of the emulator, I might have time to try
it this weekend.....

The planetweb browser for Dreamcast does not stop you from downloading VMU
files with an incorrect MIME type. Unless you don't plan on allowing
DreamKey and DreamPassport, It's not reccomended VMU downloads be tested
with it.

From the link you put,it takes you to a blue page with the description of the
file, and you should click on the white "Download" link at the bottom.
Then Apache it is. I might need help configuring Apache for VMU downloads, as I
haven't tried this
yet.
The only negative side that I can see is that all your downloads are limited to
cable upload
speeds... (care to test? Try downloading
http://killer2.dhs.org/movies/FFTOP.avi )

I have plenty of FTP experience. I used to update my
site that way, but then freeservers took away that
feature. So now I have to do it with their uploading /

It's good that you use Apache. Apache can be

I am in the process of moving my website over to a Win2k machine, which I could
install IIS
(Microsoft) or Apache. If I install IIS, then I can easily implement ftp (I've
done it before and
it's very intuitive) yet if I install Apache, I'd have to find another ftp
server to install, since
Apache is only an http server. =) The reason I use Apache right now is not only
for security
reasons, but it's also easier to install php support in Apache than it is to
install php support in
IIS...
.oO(Maybe install IIS for the ftp and Apache for the http...hmm...)Oo.
What that all says is that you'd ftp in. Hopefully you have ftp experience...?
How do you update
your current site?

Thanks.
It turns out that the only reason that he was having
problems was that he was using a download accelerator.
That offer is looking pretty good right now... how

Someone e-mailed my vmuscript site, asking why it wouldn't let him
download anything. He claimed that whenever he tried to download
something, it asked him for a username and password.
Has anyone else had this problem???
Feel free to visit the site and download something to help me test.
If anyone else has problems, let me know.
