Here's my thought:
If we set up a since central VM downloads site (with simple form based
uploading, and statistics, etc) then it would be possible that we could
design between us a standard retargetable object format that would easily
allow multiple games to be merged. Then the user of the website could go
to a pick and mix menu where they could pick an assortment of games (up to
the 64k limit) which the server's scripts would then merge (a simple
concatenation process, hopefully) and provide the user's custom made file
for download.
I'm in the process of teaching myself PERL, and have the bare bones of a
user login/profile system running (take a look at vm-ark.port5.com)
although there is a dire lack of any content as yet!
My next step will be to port my vmux stuff to perl (or perhaps someone can
offer me a webserver with telnet access so I can use compiled C for CGI?)
so that the site can do dci<->vmi/vms conversion on the fly (so that people
can upload or download in either format)
