Hi,
looks like the PlanetWeb developers have finally made it so far
as to write a PJE. Hopefully it swaps over to Europe.
Sega-CEO Shoichiro Irimajiri announced it at the JavaOne 2000.
Well, even though not much has come from our part I look forward
to a new browser that supports PJE as the telnet/ssh implementation
is ready to be deployed. Then you can not only play what the
game industry throws at you but also one of the oldest online
games there is: MUD - Multi User Dungeon or log into your account
somewhere.
I had made tests with an endless Shockwave/Flash stream and an
input line to emulate telnet but the european browser has a thread
problem that prevents the input line to be processed. Unfortunately
stephan has my american browser disc so i cannot tell how well it
works with the american browser. In case someone want's to have a
look at a very beta version (and understands german as it connects
to MorgenGrauen, a german mud) have a look here and tell me how
it looks like: http://virtuamunstaz.de/servlets/telnet/
type "gast" <enter> "m" <enter> (without the ") to log off type
"ende" <enter>
if it works so far that you can type "ende" and has not hung before
you're lucky :-)
Leo.
