Shokin_mdm: So far I have these games:<br>Red
Alarm<br>Wario<br>V-Tetris<br>3D Tetris<br>Nester's Funky Bowling<br>Mario's
Tennis<br><br>I want to get my hands on that Virtual Fishing, it
looks good and maybe one of the baseball games. I must
say a new 3d system would be awesome. Costly I would
imagine but awesome even were it only twice as good as
the vb. I emailed you so you can include me in your
petition.<br><br>neological.
Well, I think it'd be too much to expect from
Nintendo. It'll cost a lot of money to develop and remember
Nintendo did try to make Virtual Boy multiple color and
they couldn't, why? It would cost $75 extra to add one
additional color to the system (per unit), if you have basic
5 or 6 color VR system it would run $500 regular
retail just to collect the cost.<br><br>The other
solution is having hobby programmer develop games for it,
please refer back to the posts by waytoopoor. This
happened to Atari Jagaur and Lynx, both systems have a few
more games on the way. If we're to petition Nintendo,
I would only ask them to publish one game a year
for the system as there're many games developed and
not published.<br><br>I would like your feedback over
this.<br><br>Vince
The PROJECT: VR-64 site is officially up and
ready for business. If you don't know what PROJECT:
VR-64 is, then I'll go on and tell you that it's a
petition to convince Nintendo to develop the next 3-D,
full-color virtual immersion system. For more information,
and to sign the petition, go to
www.geocities.com/team_vr64.
As I'm sure you know, we VB fans are really a
very small group within the gaming community. So if
you'd sign the petition, it would be very helpful. . .
As of this writing, it's only been going for 4 days.
Progress has been slow but steady. About 35 people have
signed so far and I'm sure the number will be a little
higher than that by the time you read this. If you
would, take the time to go to
www.geocities.com/team_vr64 and send me all your information. And by the way,
I think I may have an idea to boost interest in the
club. I'd like to know what you think about it. . .
Well, this club is not dead, I'm still involved here. Yes, as with previous
posts, I'll join the petition plus inite more people into the club, so folks,
stay tuned.<br><br>Vince
What's up? Doesn't anyone ever come here anymore? I think the two Yahoo! VB
clubs should merge and make one mass club. That's the way to go in my opinion.
Make it more structured. . .
Congrats! I know you gotta be happy! What games
do you have so far? It's a real shame the VB died. I
was one of the few who actually paid $180 for the
system. It seems like everyone else put out $30 or
something like that. I think the technology could have been
exploited in much better ways with 3-D versions of games
like MGS, SF Rush and Quake. Now that the VB is gone
(practically at least) there's no system that provides an
experience that is at all similar. It's for that reason that
I am comitted to conving Nintendo that gamers want
a new 3-D VR system. So please read my post below
and sign my petition. I haven't gotten the PROJECT
website up yet so I have collected many names. But the
site will be up soon and PROJECT: VR-64 will be
underway. If you agree with my vision, please e-mail me at
ShokinMDM@... with your name, age and country you live in so
that I can add you name to the petition. Thanks and
congrats again!
Yes! I finally got my virtual boy from a trade
today. I must say I am pretty impressed, this was the
first time I had ever tried it. My favourite game so
far is Mario Tennis(cause I'm a tennis fan) and 3d
tetris is great too! Nesters funky bowling reminds a lot
of a certain SNK bowling game...I think Nintendo
could have done much more with this system with the
right people. It really is a one-of-a-kind console, now
I can understand why it's Vince's fave system. I
can't believe they are so cheap for something of this
quality, I recommend to anyone who hasn't got one to get
one right now, you won't regret
it!<br><br>neological.
I'm starting a brand new VB petition. But it's
not to re-release the Virtual Boy--that'll never
happen. Nintendo has already said that the technology is
too old. Instead, PROJECT: VR-64 is a new campaign to
convince Nintendo to release a new, more advanced system
that employs 3-D virtual immersion technology. The
PROJECT: VR-64 website should be up withing the next
couple of weeks. I need EVERYONE'S help on this so
please e-mail me at ShokinMDM@... if you would like
to go ahead and put your name on the petition.
Please include your name, e-mail address and country
you're from. THANK YOU!
I'll take a look and now your page is in the link
section #47. One reason I brought this up is because
there're so many VB site I've found and I would like to
share them with all members here.<br><br>Vince
Hi all, I got a new site, VB Lab <a href=http://vblab.8k.com
target=new>http://vblab.8k.com</a> and I need help with ideas for it. Just check
it out and post if you want to help here.
Jeff, welcome to my club. If you really like VB
games, you should get them now instead of PS2 or Game
Boy Color since you can get them anytime and the
prices will keep going down. I also collect Neo-Geo
games, stuff like these come way on top of my priority
because they won't be around for long and the values may
go up later, not to mention getting harder and
harder to find.<br><br>Since you're in the club, check
the links section for all VB related sites and have
fun.<br><br>Vince
Hey all.<br>I love the Virtual Boy, and I have
signed the petition. You might be surprised to know
that, due to very, very poor sight in my left eye, I
have (Don't all gasp at once) no depth perception. I
haven't found a game that required the depth to
play(tennis was a little hard at first-but so is the one for
NES, so go figure), but I feel all empty inside
whenever I see someone new play it and go, "Oooooooh."
*Sniff* I don't actually own a VB; it's on long-term loan
from a friend. He games we have are Mario Tennis(Fun,
but hard if you suck like me.), Golf(Hell yes. I own
NES Golf for, well, NES, Mario Golf for GBC, and
Mario Golf for N64. I love video golf. Anyone played
real golf? What's it like?), Galactic Pinball(My
fav.), Panic Bomber(Pretty crappy), Mario Clash(Okay.),
Red Alarm(Wierd.), Teleroboxer(HATE it.), and
Nester's Funky Bowling(Best bowling game I've ever played,
but did the mascot for Nintendo Power really deserve
a game? Can I get a show of hands?).<br>I'd like to
buy a VB, but with PS2 coming right around the
corner, and GBC games being released like mad, It's a
little low on the priority list.<br>Well, I guess I'll
try to check in every once in a while to see how
everything is goin'. Cool club Vince.<br>Jeff
Or perhaps both of his eyes don't work well?
There is some 3D effect to WW, but you're right, it's
not one of the top titles for that. <br><br>Certainly
Wario Land hits you over the head with it, but my
favorite for the 3D is Galactic Pinball.
Water World doesn't have that kind of 3D effect
like Teleboxer, I played the game and it's pretty much
2D. As far as the problem on the system (lack of
depth perception), did you check the system with other
games?<br><br>Vince
'I got WaterWorld (That movie ROCKED!!!!) and, I
finally got it into my GameBoy, (had to turn it
sideways...) but it doesn't look very 3D to me... It is in
red, but there's no depth!! :P<br> Did anyone else
have this problem? What's the fix? PLEASE don't tell
me I have to replace the LCD... I've already done it
THREE TIMES!!!!! Those suckers aren't cheap, you
know!<br><br> Anyways, PeAcE OuT!!!!!!'<br> vb_L8mr
Whoa! Those are some serious prices for a little
cart. It reminds me of my sports card collecting days,
it was ridiculous sometimes when I would see these
trades worth hundreds of dollars and this was for a
piece of card board!(or plastic/metal/wood these
days)<br><br>For the price of SD Gundam I could probably get a
Metal Slug(well, used to and if I could find one) or
that pc-engine duo r(w/games) I have been wanting to
get. Yeah, Nintendo should re-produce scarce virtual
boy games, after all, how much can it cost for such
little carts? They should do it like you said it should
be done with future SNK games- produce only what's
pre-ordered and that way the system can stay alive and they
can keep making money while we stay happy :-)
<br><br>John.
John, while most games are very affordable,
there're a few games that will cost you arm and legs, even
a diehard Neo-Geo collector like myself will think
twice about it, for example:<br><br>SD Gundam: Current
market price is about $500 in Japan, that is, if you can
locate one.<br><br>Space Invader: $400.<br><br>Even a VB
fan like myself will not pay that much for it, I can
do a lot of things with $500. That's why it's
important for Nintendo to realize the acual demand of VB
games.<br><br>Vince
Hi Vince, I think I now fall in this category :-)
Thanks for the invitation. Well, it looks like I will be
getting my virtual boy soon, so I will be able to know
what everyone will be talking about here. I have never
seen or touched one apart from seeing it in a magazine
but it's so afforfable now and i have heard such
great comments from you about it that I think there is
no way I can lose. I hope that everyone that has a
virtual boy will join this club and share their thoughts,
i'm sure there are many out
there...<br><br>Regards,<br>John.
I would like to extend my welcome to everyone
who've just joined the club, please feel free to look
around. I've actually started this club a while ago but
it took me a while to find all the cool links and
retailers.<br><br>I encourage everyone to read my intro posts (#1 to
#15) and look through he link section. To maximize the
chance of finding the game you want, check with the
vendors on a routine basis (#71 to #100). You can also
find a lot of codes and game info from all the VB
gaming sites (#1 to #55). Oh, any questions, just ask,
there's no such thing as stupid questions, and let's lay
some support for way2poor for VB game development,
this happened to Atari Jaguar and Lynx after the
company's demise.<br><br>Vince
I won't be able to participate the project, but
if you make games for it, I'll be the first to jump
in and buy those games. Don't worry, I'll be
inviting more people in so this club will get a lot more
traffic. BTW, please give us your email so we can contact
you about it, it sounds like a lot of
fun.<br><br>Vince
I wanna bring the VB (and stereoscopic
entertainment in general) into the new millenium!<br><br>Who's
with me?!?!<br><br>We have to make it powerful, cheap
(!), easy to use and both easy to write good game and
hard to write crappy games (Is this a
paradox?!)<br><br>We should use a parallel processor architecture,
that uses lots of cheap and widely available
processors. (I'm thinking 680x0 or even 6502) (Not Motorolla
biased, hate Apples and don't own a Genesis
;^)<br><br>Also, some processors should be specifically assigned
to certain tasks. Ie. instead of 10 general purpose
machines, 5 gen. purps and:<br> * a 3D sound proc.<br> * 1
3D graph. proc. per eye<br> * 1 2D graph. proc. per
eye<br><br>Maybe we could make it scalable by allowing an
indefinite no. of (gen. purp.) procs be paralleled. Whaddaya
think?<br><br>I don't want to go overboard with the 3D. I can't
stand the cheesy light-mapped, 5-polygon-per-level, no
depth perception, FPS crap that game companies are
pumping out.<br><br>I do, however, like the possibilities
of 3D rendering hardware. Yoshi's Story and Mischief
Makers are both awesome games! If you were to add
stereoscopic capabilities to either, you would have the best
game in the universe!<br><br>Now that I'm done
ranting, who wants to take on this project with
me?<br><br>BTW, I don't think it's logical to shoot for
'portable' like Nintendo did. I'm thinkin' desktop, with the
CPU and 'user interface' separated by a
cable.<br><br>I await the flood of replies, hopefully by e-mail,
too. I don't think I'll be able to check this 'board
that often. But, feel free to talk amongst yourselves
;^)<br><br> - way2poor
Hi Y'all, <br>I am also a proud owner of a
virtual boy. I have the AC adapter and 5 or 6 games since
a friend of mine also has a VB and lets me borrow
his. The games I have are:<br><br>Mario
Tennis<br>Teleroboxer<br>Red Alarm (my favorite)<br>Golf<br>Mario Clash<br>and
my friend has Galactic pinball
Hello all, great another new Virtual Boy YahooClub!<br><br>Oh and Vince, I use
i_m_virtual_boy mostly for on my page, I always chat at Yahoo with FerryGoeD
:)<br><br>Well... see ya later!<br>Ferry.
Well, you can get almost all of VB accessory from
Nintendo themselves, here's the
URL:<br><br><a href=http://store.nintendo.com
target=new>http://store.nintendo.com</a><br><br>If you have an AC adaptor from
Super NES, you can
just purchase the adaptor tap from Nintendo, which
costs $5.00 plus shipping. Otherwise you'll need to get
the entire AC Adaptor Set.<br><br>Vince
just wondering. do you happen to know of a place where i can purchase an ac
adapter.....fromall the sites youve been....if you see or know of anything
please let me know...thanks inadvance
Hi Jon:<br><br>Welcome to my club, feel free to
look around the links I've set up, I still have man
more links to set up, once done, I'll be inviting a
lot of people in.<br><br>Yes, one purpose of my club
is to raise awareness of VB and get enough people to
petition to Nintendo.<br><br>Vince
