Hey everyone,

Im looking into starting to program the VB, but I really only want
to do it if I can put together a flash cart. I saw the instructions
for making a UV erasable one, but I wanted to know if anyone has
adapted those plans for flash. Also, if any of you programmers are
interested in making our own adaptations to the plans, let me know.
I've been looking into flash chips lately and I think its definitely
do-able.

Does anyone know if you can display a sprite in just one eye? It
might be useful in "transparency" or ghost/mist effects. Granted,
it'll probably just be annoying or jumpy, but probably worth a try.

ok, so i bought my vb new years ago just as it was beginning to fail
on the market. i've been good to the system, and it's been good to
me, but i had it stored for a bit over a year until yesterday when i
was inspiredt to play wario land (one of my fav video games ever).
things are going good, wario's wrecking sh*t, and suddenly my display
goes all funky and garbled. not the horizontal line problem that i
hear some people have, just garbled. seems to only happen in
situations with much animation... ideas?

Are you looking for the battery pack, or the ac tap/adapter? I have
the ac tap/adapter, tons of games (US and Japanese, including Virtual
Fishing) and lots of other stuff (Nintendo Power VB issue with
original 3D glasses, hard case, soft case, earbuds, etc., etc.,
etc.) I'm in the US. You can write me at nspinhead@....

Good deal! A replacement is easy, if you're in the US. Just go to
www.nintendo.com, and check out the parts section (in the "STORE", I
think). Or call 1-800-255-3700. As for other neat stuff (tons of
games including the ultra-rare Virtual Lab, carrying cases,
brochures, magazines, etc.) for the VB, feel free to contact me at
nspinhead@.... But don't expect the bargain prices YOU got!

Howdy everyone! I recently purcased a virtual boy with Mario Tennis
at a thrift store for $16 (hope that was a good price). Anyway
everything was complete except for the black light shield. I know
this is a long shot, but does anyone know where a replacement one can
be purchased? I know that you don't really need it to play but it
makes it does a great job of keeping surrounding light out. THanks...

Hey gang. I recently joined, and this is my first
post. I have been having a bit of a "love affair" (easy
guys....) with the VB ever since I bought my first one from
WalMart for $49.99. I have a decent VB collection,
including about a dozen sealed games and three VB systems.
I thankfully took advantage of EB's Japanese VB
games, and purchased a few of each. I did pass on some
gems that I wish I wouldn't have, though. That's the
main purpose of this message. I am in need of Nester's
Funky Bowling and Jack Bros. Loose is fine. I have tons
of stuff to trade from VB stuff to a plethora of 80s
action figures. Oh, I'm also looking for a small
(5"~13") tv. LMK!

Cheers,
Joe

The PROJECT: VR-64 site is officially up and
ready for business. If you don't know what PROJECT:
VR-64 is, then I'll go on and tell you that it's a
petition to convince Nintendo to develop the next 3-D,
full-color virtual immersion system. For more information,
and to sign the petition, go to
www.geocities.com/team_vr64.

That's an interesting idea, and you'd probably
know a lot more about that than I do. I really know
very little about the technical side of video games--I
leave that up to the developers. The goal of PROJECT:
VR-64 is not to deliver the plans for a new system to
Nintendo. This much is true: I have proposed that a new
system be developed. In fact, I'm even having sketches
of the system drawn up to be sent along with the
petition to Nintendo. I call it the VR-64. It's 64-bit,
full-color, 3-D virtual immersion. But these are all
suggestions. The purpose of PROJECT: VR-64 is not necessarily
to have the VR-64 per se developed. If that's what
happened, that would be great. But the real purpose is to
convince Nintendo that gamers want SOME system that is
reminicent of the VB. After all, the VB was unique. There
was no other system like it. And now there is no
system that provides the same type of experience that
the VB did. If the N64 died today, there'd still be
the PSX and Dreamcast. But the VB died and not what
do we have? Nothing. If PROJECT convinced Nintendo
to re-release the VB, then I couldn't be happier.
But that won't happen because the technology is now
too old. So I'm hoping that if we all put enough
effort into this thing, it will prove to Nintendo that
there is a demand for a new and improved 3-D virtual
immersion system. Imagine this: a full-color, 3-D,
first-person virtual reality version of Metal Gear Solid or
Quake. . . It would rock! So I hope you understand a
little bit better now what I'm trying to do. But even
though I'm the creator of PROJECT: VR-64, it doesn't
belong just to me, but to all gamers who would like to
see this come to pass. And it is for this reason that
we need to work together on this. As far as I'm
concerned, we're all members of TEAM: VR-64 and we can do it
if we remain united. But I need EVERYONE'S help.
Expect the PROJECT website to be up within the next week
or so. It's not a big site and I'm working hard, so
it probably shouldn't take me too long. Thanks!
Peace out for now!

OK, here's what I think would be good for the
project and could theoretically run existing N64 games.
Imagine this: a DUAL processor N64, Each processor will
run the game using a different "camera angle" and
will feed that into a VR display. So all they would
have to do to run existing games would be to take the
games "normal" camera angle and the system would alter
it slightly for each eye, and since you have two
processors rendering simultaneously in 2 spots, you will
have the illusion of 3-dimensiality. It's that simple!

I'm starting a new petition, bit it's not to
re-release the Virtual Boy. That'll never happen because the
technology is already over 5 years old. Instead, it's to
convince Nintendo to develop a new system that employs 3-D
virtual immersion technology. The PROJECT: VR-64 website
will be up within the next couple of weeks, but to go
on and add your name to the petition please e-mail
me at ShokinMDM@... and make sure to include your
name, e-mail address and country you're from. Thank
