I've really missed the vintage gaming community, especially the TG16
division. So...how have things been going the last several months?
Anything new based on the old stuff we love so much? I see you guys
are up and over 700. That's pretty cool. I've always had faith in this
group. Resurrecting it was the perfect thing to do. As good as some of
the other groups were, none of them ever could touch this
one,...although we tried but, heck! I'd rather be in this one
anyway. ;)

Well, as for new stuff, Mindrec is making a new verticle shoot-em-up
for the PC Engine CD.

It's looking pretty good. It seems to take a lot from Super Star
Soldier and a few other famous shumps. I think I'll get it once it
comes out.

Please don't forget about us over at Frozen Utopia
(http://www.frozenutopia.nodtveidt.net) . We have a classic turn-based
style RPG called "Mysterious Song" that has been very close to
completion for awhile, a secret game that is also very close to being
complete, and we have had development going for long-awaited Neutopia
III which should please both fans of the series and action-RPG fans
alike :D .

Nah, we're not shut down. Our URL has changed to
http://www.frozenutopia.com and we're still trying to
complete our games, but it's taking some time :( . We
won't let anyone down!

Hello,

I'm from Brazil, new to this list and to PCE in
general. I have a PCE first model and intend to buy an
CD-ROM add-on as soon as possible. I've made a lot of
Google-ing but still haven't come to a definite
answer: only the original CD-ROM + interface unit can
be attached to it, or a Super CD-ROM will work fine
for me?

Also read something about Altered Beast CD not
running in a certain configuration, what is it?

Thanks!
Gustavo

Welcome! I'm pretty sure that the Super CD-ROM hardware is only
compatible with the Coregrafx I or II, SuperGrafx or PC Engine LT
(everything but the original white system).

But, you might be able to get it to work using the RAU-30 adaptor,
which was designed to hook the SuperGrafx (or 'LT?) to the original
CD-ROM Interface Unit.

But if you're looking to buy the Super CD-ROM, you might as well drop
another $50 on a Coregrafx system or better yet, skip them all and
just buy a Duo R or RX system and have it all in one compact console.

Altered Beast only runs correctly using the PC Engine CD System Card
1.0. Otherwise, the first boss won't fight you until you've walked
through the level several times.

That's just weird. Know of any other system card glitches? Might be
fun to try some out.

Haha, my last post was on December 19th, 2006! Since
the replies go straight to my email, it's easy for me
to make a quick response. Without that, I'm afraid I
probably wouldn't have made as much posts (not that I
was active to begin with). It's a nice group and I
hope it never dies!

Why is that? Just because an old group is still hanging on is no
reason to delete it. The messages stored here are an important part of
TurboGrafx-16 fan history and a valuable information source for those
seeking hard-to-find topics on system hardware and software.
