personalities.<br><br>I'm not worried one bit. This club has really gotten
off to a great start. Since I can't talk to the Turbo
List posters through e-mail I was hoping to discuss
the Turbo/PC Engine with some of them here.<br><br>By
the way, I've just reserved a TurboDuo from Raven
Videogames for $200. Thanks for the help Vince. I didn't
order any games for it yet because it comes with the 4
in 1 CD (remember, Bomberman is hidden on it) so
I'll just wait till I get my next paycheck before
beginning the game hunt. Besides, finding a new Turbo is
probably harder than finding games.
thanx for the invite! i have about 750 games
total for about 22 systems, and i acquired my turbo
stuff only over the past 3 or 4 years, slowly- so i
only have about 65 games for the tg-16, duo & pc
engine. some more great games for the pc engine
are:<br>browning (shooter), flash hiders (fighting/rpg), legend of
xanadu (rpg), burai II (rpg), dragon knight II (rpg-
i'll admit to needing a bit of a walkthrough, so i can
leave the damn town-lol!!! -help!) high grenadier
(strategy). cool, classic hucards and cds for the tg-16 and
pce:<br>cotton, magical chase, pac-land, violent soldier,
rock-on, volfiev(qix), vasteel, final zone II, rabid lepus
special (!), blazing lazers, silent debuggers, somer
assault, alien crush, dungeon explorer 1 & 2... there was
a comic fantasy stories released for the sega
saturn a few years ago- i'm going to pick it up in a few
weeks! the shop where i work just got about 3 dozen
hucards and pc engine cd's that i've never seen, as well
as some hard to find classics, like dragon slayer,
valis III, y's 4 and military madness! a lot of these
have been sold, though, and i'm going to buy some
myself (so much for paying my bills on time...) we also
have about 2 NEW duos, made in '93 w/no software
($300), and a used super grafx ($400!!)by the way, as
much as i LOVE my turbo express, the lynx had hardware
scaling, which made some of the games really amazing
graphically (battlewheels, and warbirds can't be beat!), and
there are still games being made for it- hopefully
someone will do the same for the te/16/duo... they don't
make games like this anymore, thanx to the enforced
evolution in consoles these days- you HAVE to use 3D in
every game, or else it won't get on the shelves- 2D is
being needlessly buried, unless you're a big company,
like konami or capcom, that can afford to "lose" money
on 2D games... speaking of 2D, i'm looking to trade
the following for a used dracula x, in nice shape
with instructions: dragon ball z (pc engine, great
shape, complete), cosmic fantasy (duo, no instructions),
and lords of thunder and dungeon explorer for the
sega cd (new & sealed!)...=P
Frank, at this point, don't worry too much about
the size of of club, as a matter of fact, I'm very
happy with the support I've received, and it'll take
time for a club to grow and develop
personalities.<br><br>Take our Neo-Geo club Dolphinlord as example, when I
joined the club there were less than 40 members,
compared to hundreds in DHP mailing list, but quantity
isn't everything, many of the posts in DHP are flame
war related which I really don't want in my club. So
if you weed out the flaming post, the amount of
activities in both are about the same.<br><br>I still have
250 people in my list for sending invitation and I'll
actually slow down a bit so each new member will be
noticed.<br><br>Vince
The Pc Engine was my first console, and definatly
one of my favs.second only to the megadrive and neo
geo cd.Remember Dungeoan Explorer?Fantastic music and
loads of fun.How about Twin Cobra,or ultimate tiger as
it was renamed for the genisis version (witch was
totally crap).So many great games,and cool shooters.I
also loved Bloody Wolf, witch was so much better that
Rambo 3.
Hi Jonathan, you bet, anything related to the
name of album are welcome, I was going to delete the
albums I created but it looks like I'll leave those
there for a while and see how people act up.<br><br>As
a matter of fact, PC-FX is even better since those
are quite hard to find so scan them all and let us
see them. My comment over you last paragraph, yes I'm
very serious about this club and a good club needs
solid foundation. I can't do this alone since my area
of expertise is restricted to TurboGrafx, for that
reason, members' participations are the most
important.<br><br>Vince
The TE is great!! There are plenty of great(and
cheap!) chip games you could play. :) The Bonk games to
name some(you can get both Bonk 1 and 2 from Raven
Video Games for only 15$ each!!). If you get an AC
Adaptor and Car Adaptor the battery life wouldn't even be
a problem. I hope to get a TE soon myself(damn PS2
being $400+ is really putting a cramp in my
spending...).
Well I've bought a few Neo*Geo carts from $200 - $400 so paying that for a rare
game is normal.<br>now if I can just find it and the system it plays on.
hi all I am thinking about getting a nec system
and was thinking about the turbo express is this a
desent portable(except for its sad excuse for battery
life) are thier enough good chip games shooers/RPGs or
should I just go for the duo I dont know mutch about
them it has been a long time sence I played a tg-16
<br><br>thanks for the help <br>bikekidd<br><br>is it me or is
this club growing veary fast:)<br>sorry if this poasts
twice
>The only catch was that it was announced for
>their PC-98X1 computers, so does this mean it >won't
work on any other kind of PC in the
world?<br><br>hey,<br><br> I know there is a PC ver. and a Mac ver. , so yes
you can get one for any type of
comp.<br><br>-=-Josh-=-
I have a quick question about the Game Cover Arts
category too... I posted a pic and then realized I may
have put it in the wrong album. Let me know if it is
in the right one(the Game Cover Arts) or which album
to post it in. :) I have several more to put up to
from various websites.
"Game cover arts: Primarily TurboGrafx, if you have the boxes of TG-16 games,
scan them to this album."<br><br>Are PC-FX box covers good as well?<br><br>Neo
Bomberman
Now that I've got the name, anyone ever used a
PC-FX Game Accelerator? This was the board that allowed
users to create PC-FX compatible software on their PCs.
It came with some 2-D & 3-D tools & a few basic
games, and was supposed to retail for under ¥50000. The
only catch was that it was announced for their PC-98X1
computers, so does this mean it won't work on any other kind
of PC in the world?<br><br>I'll take the time now to
say thank you Vince for all the information you
provided in the opening posts. It's very informative, and
is proof enough for me that you're quite serious
about this club; good news for all members.<br><br>Neo
Bomberman
I sure hope not. The PC-FX is the last of the
systems I wanted but never got when I was younger. Sort
of. I almost got myself a TG16 several years ago, but
the person I was going to get it from, their dad went
& sold it without asking them...<br><br>Game Dude
use to carry them, but I don't think they do anymore.
I still want this system so badly, so I'll be doing
lots of ckecking around for one. Any findings you can
be sure I'll post. I might even go to Japan in a few
months, so perhaps I'll get lucky & find one. Who knows,
but I guess there's always eBay & their Wanted Board
where all else fails.<br><br>Neo Bomberman
Now that NCS has stopped carrying these, who's
gonna supply them? There wasn't any other store to my
knowledge that sold these systems... a few (very few) had
some games, but nothing else. Is the era of the PC-FX
completely over now?
I might take you up on that offer, depending on whether or not the guyI'm
currently getting one from is conning me (which I suspect).<br>Thanks for any
comments about granzort ^_^
I have Grandzort, and didn't think much of it,
and I didn't know that it was Keith Courage's sequel,
when I get home from work, I'll try it out.. btw, if
someone wants a supergrafx, i have an extra in box. =)
I never know if I'm spelling that title
correctly...anyway, does anyone have any impressions of this game,
naturally I know it's the sequel to keith courage, as it
was known in the US, but I'd just like to know how
this sgfx version plays. Any comments?
>Are American games doomed to be forever
cursed <br>>with crappy cover art? <br><br>Lol. Guess
that was before Working Designs got obsessed with
packaging and everything came in a gold foil stamped box
with glossy full color book.<br><br>From what I know
from my days on the Working Designs message board,
they never released any other games in the series in
the U.S. because they felt they were pure crap.
Unfortunatly Working Designs has a history of ignoring
prequels and sequels they feel are not up to standard(even
when a lot of people think some of those are a lot
better than the ones they do release). I do know that
Cosmic Fantasy 2 was WD's favorite of the games they
brought over for any system. :)<br><br>Speaking of which,
if anyone is looking for Cosmic Fantasy 2 or Exile,
you can get them direct from Working Designs at
<a href=http://www.workingdesigns.com,
target=new>http://www.workingdesigns.com,</a> they are both in stock.
Jorge, the $500 shooter is probably Sapphire on
ACD, even in Japan, you won't find this game for less
than $350. Jyosui can put you on the wait list for
this game. <br>Oh, yes, Jyosui finally has a web-page
for game sales, here's the
URL<br><br><a href=http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~t_kuroda/GTA/home
target=new>http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~t_kuroda/GTA/home</a><br><br>Be aware that
you need to use Internet Explorer to
get to the URL, Netscape will only display list of
encriptions.<br><br>Vince
I might have to repeat this on a routine basis,
but for all new members, please read post #2 to #15.
Even if you're PC-Engine/Turbo expert, this will help
you decide which systems to own.<br><br>I would like
to thank everyone's support for my club, in less
than 48 hours, we already have 30 people joining in. I
was a bit concerned since the other TurboGrafx club
(lnk#50) in Yahoo is kind of dead with less than 20 posts
in 6 months. But we've already surpassed it in less
than 24 hours.<br><br>Vince
Hello Well I currenty own a Duo rx a U.S Duo<br>a

Hello all's. I'm new in this club. I enjoy to
find it. I'm nec collector and also all other
videogame. I have post pictures on the photos album. If you
want you can visit my videogames collection web page

Thanks for clearing that up Reverend. To my
credit, I only turned the guy into a shark on land once.
If memory serves, it was out of just trying anything
to try and make it through this one level where you
had all these jumps to make. I remember the jumps
were too steep for the guy, so you had to turn into a
higher leaping panther, but then the panther would run
off the edge of the platforms if you just barely
tapped the control pad. Yes folks, avoid this game. As
good as the Turbo is, this Shape Shifter piece of
garbage ended up on it somehow. Go figure..
hi there guys<br>i know this is a forum for hard
core gamers<br>but i am new to the nec gaming
seen<br>in fact i dont have any of the systems<br>but i need
help<br>can somone explain every single nec
system<br>domestic and japan versions to me and tell me what the
diffrences are<br>ive been looking on ebay but dont
understand all the diffrent systems and names<br><br>Thanks
guys
I'm trying to think of the name of that one game
>>I had years ago for the Super CD. It was obviously
American or European made, and it was a platformer. You
earned the ability to morph into a panther, a shark, and
I think a bird of some sort. I wanna say Shape
Shifter, but I could be wrong.<br><br>That was Shape
Shifter Lou. I remember you playing it at my house once.
The problem was there was some sort of decrease in
your "morphing meter" (or something like that)
everytime you shapeshifted. You hit one spot in the game
and kept trurning into a shark on land and eventually
you ran out your meter and lay there stuck. And yes
I'm laughing while typing this.
Okay, I am now officially pissed. I loved Cosmic
Fantasy 2, great game, brillant story, cool characters,
etc. Now I've found out about the rest of the
series:<br><br>Cosmic Fantasy (Jap)<br>Cosmic Fantasy 2 (Jap &
US)<br>Cosmic Fantasy 3 (Jap)<br>Cosmic Fantasy 4 -Chapter 1
(Jap)<br>Cosmic Fantasy 4 -Chapter 2 (Jap)<br>Cosmic Fantasy
Visual Collection Vol. 1 (Jap)<br><br>How many here have
played these games, besides part 2? Why weren't these
released in America? Other than parts 1, 2 and the Visual
Collection all the other games are Super CD. We missed out
on what is probably a terrific RPG saga. And don't
get me started on the cover art. All the Japanese
version have cool anime style art, while the US version
just has a black cover with the words Cosmic Fantasy 2
printed on it. Is this some sort of conspiracy? Are
American games doomed to be forever cursed with crappy
cover art?
>>And one looks like Bonk.......a little
altered, anyway.<br><br>Yeah, that Bonk game is the Japanese version of Bonk's
Adventure, also known as PC Genjin. While looking this up I
learned there is also a version of Panic Bomber for Super
CD. Hell, if I could get that then I wouldn't need to
buy a Neo-Geo MVS to play the game, though I'm sure
the Geo version is better. I also noticed that the
American version of Bonk 3 was released on both Hu Card
and Super CD formats. Does anybody know what the
differences between these two are?
Are there any members of this club that are also
on the mailing list? I tried to join but you can't
send messages if you have a free e-mail account. I
still get mail from them, I only wish I could reply.
Has anyone here told the mailing list members of this
club. I've heard there are something like 500 members
and it would be nice to have them post here as well.
The reason you've never gotten a YES or NO answer
is because it isn't that simple. If you mean whether
it will play every game that it was originally
intended to play, domestic (US) games, then the answer is
yes. It can play any US TurboChip, CD or Super CD
game.<br><br>When it comes to imports, the area becomes a bit more
complex.<br><br>HuCards: Basically Japanese TurboChips. It has a different
edge configuration, so you'll need a converter such as
the Kisado Converter (around $30) to play
them.<br><br>Japanese CD's & Super CD's: These will play in a US Duo
without any problem.<br><br>Japanese Arcade CD's: These
were never released in the US, so you need to get an
Arcade Card Duo (an Arcade Card Pro will work on the Duo
as well; they cost $50-$60) to play these. Since the
Arcade Cards are Japanese HuCards, you'll still need the
converter to play them.<br><br>In addition, there are a few
3rd party Japanese CD games that come with their own
proprietary HuCards that are needed to be played. You need
the converter to play these too.
