if treasure didn't exist, i suppose you'd have to
go with wolfteam/renovation/technosoft/riot's stuff
(yeah, riot too- some of their better games)- don't
forget masaya/dreamworks (no, not spielberg's company!-
target earth, mystical fighter, gley lancer, devil
hunter yoko), seismic, namco (rolling thunder 2, burning
force, dangerous seed, splatterhouse 2 & 3, etc.),
treco, codemasters (at least 4 md micro machines
games!), and success (just for panorama cotton- a 200
dollar + game, but worth it, from what i've seen)...=^P

the pal version of alien soldier is exactly the
same as the japanese version with one "big"
difference- the packaging and manual are in japanese. lol!
actually, the game was produced in smaller quantities in
japan than in europe, so that counts for something- i'm
not too picky about that sort of thing, especially
since it's about a hundred dollar
difference...=^P<br><br>off the top of my head, treasure has done the
following games:<br>axelay (sfc/snes)<br>castlevania iv
(sfc/snes)<br>contra hard corps (mega drive/genesis)<br>(the above for
konami)<br>mc donalds treasure land adventure (md/gen) <br>(for
sega)<br>gunstar heroes (md/gen)<br>gunstar heroes (game
gear)<br>dynamite headdy (md/gen)<br>dynamite headdy (game
gear)<br>yu yu hashuko (md)<br>alien soldier (md)<br>light
crusader (md/gen)<br>guardian heroes
(saturn)<br>silhouette mirage (saturn)<br>radiant silvergun
(saturn)<br>yuke yuke troublemakers/mischief makers
(n64)<br>silhouette mirage: reprogrammed hope (japanese psx- the
working designs u.s. version is almost a different game
with the changes they made)<br>bakumaretsu bangaio
(n64/dreamcast)<br>rakugaki showtime (jpsx) <br>gun beat (japanese arcade
game- cancelled)<br>sin & punishment (n64)<br>silpheed:
the lost planet (ps2)<br>stretch panic (ps2)<br>i
think they're doing a game boy advance game as
well!<br><br>i'm sure they did a few 8-bit games for konami (maybe
some game boy titles as well), and a few of konami's
other 16-bit games have a "treasure look" to them, such
as rocket knight adventures, the sequel, sparkster
(snes/genesis), and the adventures of batman & robin on the snes,
but konami probably hired programmers to copy
treasure's style for those games...=^P<br><br>psm gave
stretch panic a 4 out of 10, saying it's too short and a
bit easy (and not for kids because of the boobs), but
6 to 8 hours is average for a treasure game, once
you get the gameplay nailed...=^P

Ok....first of all...geelw, hell yeah I'd be
interested in that convertor...email me..my email is listed
in my yahoo info. Next up...this IS the PAL version
of Alien Soldier that I got...but my q is...what's
the difference? Why would the japanese one be more
expensive? That just seems odd to me. Now..the rants ;)
First off, in response to grant42865, I LIKE Treasure's
games in general...all that I've played at least,
that's why I want to buy and play them. Come on..they
coded Contra and Castlevania for Konami before they
broke away!! Once I find a company I like (Treasure,
Renovation, Climax, etc) I buy all their games! I do think
Treasure games are getting a bit on the spendy side
tho..this is the first time I've had to pay more than $20
for one by them. However, I play LOTS of other
platform games that I like just as much...I have Shinobi
III and it kicks ass!! <br><br>And for the
Genesis...Thunderforces anyone? Or how about Shadowrun? Landstalker?
Warsong (Langrisser)? The Shining Games? I LOVE a lot of
games on that system....I have over 50 for it! I'm
looking forward to Stretch Panic as well ;) One stick for
her and one for her scarf? And everything is
stretchy? And all the enemies are fat women with torpedo
chests? VERY cool :) <br><br>However..I haven't played
most of the Treasure games. I've only played Gunstar
Heroes, Contra, Castlevania, Contra III, Silouhette
Mirage (SO HARD), Bangai-o, Light Crusader, and I think
that's it. What else have they made? I know about
Mischief Makers and Dynamite Headdy. And do they have a
website? or ANY Duo games (hope hope)?<br><br>I think I'll
stick with my copy of Sega CD Snatcher (cause I can
READ it)..I LOVE that game and played the crap out of
it! <br><br>Finally...thanks for answering all those
q's guys. I appreciate it and I'm sure everyone else
on here does too. This is the best forum I've ever
been a member in, as well as the most
knowledgeable...it helps a LOT! I know US games...but learning all
the imports is a lot of work, and every obscure
question gets answered here! And kabuki...I just got Far
East of Eden Kabuki Den and I'm going to start thru it
using your guide soon...so thanks in advance!!!

hmm- you could say that about almost all treasure
games, if you think about it. the "problem" is that
they've been programming for so long that they're
probably bored with creating the same old repetetive
gameplay, so they're always trying something new and
different. i finished sm, but it almost killed my fingers
and brain! you really, really have to think before,
during and after you leap in that one!...=^P<br><br>sin
& punishment is sort of that way too, even though
the game is on rails, it's so crazy with all those
effects and the game camera doing its thing that it's so
easy to die really quickly if you're not paying
attention...=^(

I think Silhouette Mirage would've been better the controls were easier to
learn. I just can't move 'naturally' in that damn game. :)

if it is the pal version of alien soldier (i have
it as well), a regular converter won't work- you'll
need a super key or mega key, which will play almost
any japanese/european/brazilian cart on your genesis.
yes, i happen to have an extra one, if you're
interested...=^P<br><br>btw, alien soldier is great, just WAY too hard- it's
supposed to be a collection of boss fights, so i don't
really have a problem with that at all. i guess they
used up all the bosses they ever created plus a few
more konami wanted them to use so that they wouldn't
steal them for any more contra games (lol). it's a
wonder konami didn't use the guys who programmed roket
knight adventures, sparkster, and the adventures of
batman & robin to do a 32-bit contra game, but oh
well...=^(<br><br>i know people who HATE most treasure games, so it's
no big deal if someone doesn't like radiant
silvergun at all i think. personally, i have issues with
mischief makers, light crusader, the u.s. versions of
headdy and silhouette mirage, but i think yu yu is the
best mega drive fighter period, mostly due to the
4-player mode. it's definitely an acquired taste, which is
why you have to play it more than once- then again,
with the exception of gunstar heroes, rakugaki
showtime (just got one!) and bangaioh, you can say that
about all the post-konami treasure games...=^P

&gt;I just got Alien Soldier for the Mega Drive
&gt;COMPLETE for $72!!! Anyone got a Mega Drive for &gt;cheap
that I can play it on? I have 8 Genesis &gt;systems
but no Mega Drives :( Also....has anyone &gt;else
played thru the Sega CD Snatcher? Is it the &gt;same as
the Duo one, but in English..or did they &gt;change a
lot? <br><br>Alien Soldier for $72? That has to be the
PAL version, as I have NEVER seen the Japanese
version sell that low (I have seen the PAL version sell
for little cash, though). Given that I paid $59 for
it upon its release in Japan, that would be quite a
deal indeed otherwise. With eight Genesis systems,
though, wouldn't it be more prudent to just buy a
converter? I play Alien Soldier on my system with a
converter (I just have to remove the 32X first). I'm going
to be a little controversial here. Alien Soldier
isn't a great game. Sure, it's a technological wonder
(purely from a "gee whiz" standpoint) on the Mega Drive,
but the thing is pretty repetitious (fight boss,
fight boss, fight boss) with little real variety in
gameplay. Beyond the eye candy, I find little cause to
recommend it. There are games on the Genesis which bury it
(Ristar and Shinobi III came to mind right away...among
many others), but nobody cares about those
because...ahem...they aren't by Treasure (although they have more bang
and are infinitely cheaper). I own all of Treasure's
console games except Yu Yu Hakusho (played it once in
Texas in an import store when it was just released and
didn't like it at all); however, I find that the last
game by them that I really was satisfied with was
Dynamite Headdy (cue the Radiant Silvergun worshippers to
cringe). I'm hoping for big things with Stretch Panic on
PS2.<br><br>As far as Snatcher goes, I have the PC Engine,
Saturn, and Sega CD revs. Which would I recommend? The
Sega CD version, of course. Although the atmosphere
seems a little heavier in the PC Engine port, isn't it
always better to be able to play a game in English? I
surely would think so. However, I understand from MSX
geeks that the MSX original is the best version of all.
Having seen some screens from that rev, though, I'm not
certain I would go that far. It really does look crappy.

They changed alot, but it stills plays through
basically the same way.<br><br>They managed to pull off a
special technique to get the Genesis to display 128
colors, so its not nearly as washed out as it could've
been.<br><br>They also touched up and redrew a huge portion of the
game.<br><br>The bar has Konami characters instead of sci
fi/anime/manga characters.<br><br>Certain things are censored,
like a robot watching a porno(which I've never found
anyway).<br><br>The game supports the Konami light gun(which I bought
with LE just to use on Snatcher) but its basically
useless.<br><br>There are some extra fight/shooting scenes at the
end.<br><br>Although most people who comment on it say it has the
"BEST!" voice acting ever, I hate it. I don't think they
even hired a voice director. <br><br>Before the game
came out, I described to friends exactly how the worst
case scenario voices would sound. And you know what?
Thats EXACTLY how they ended up.<br><br>Gillian went
from the most masculine voice possible to the
nerdiest.<br><br>However, if your standards for voice work are low
enough(ie: you think WD is the best) then you'll probably
love it.<br><br>*one last thing is that they added a
cinema to the beginning/opening that was a comic in the
PCE version.<br><br>I won't spoil the rest.
