I've been thinking of selling my copy of Order of
The Griffon. In 93 I bought it new and played thru
twice. Nowadays I can't get into it. Should I hang onto
it and come back at a later time?

Mark_III

Jaguar is NOT a system I would willingly
put
effort into using/emulating... Raiden 2 for PC is
good,
but VERY basic. Raiden Project seems to be the
only
preminent solution to my prob, cuz Raiden 2 is really
the
one I like. Raiden 1 isn't too hot... sorry bout the
condition of my posts, yahoo has been screwing up for me
lately...
visually, the jaguar raiden is excellent, but the
game is harder than it should be, because you can't
see the enemies' shots! the raiden project (psx) is
still the better game, even with the loading time...=^P
I've heard the best Raiden 1 is on the Jag. I
gotta pick it up one of these days. Yeah, the PSX is
pretty faithful, but the music stinks!! I actually like
the Turbochip music better then that, & better then
the Gen & SNES versions as well, but, ofcoarse, Super
Raiden is very well done in my opinion. It's just a
shame that all they added to it, was better music. I
hate when they do that, like with Bonk 3, Altered
Beast, Daisenpu, etc.. Anyways, there's a few good
shooters for PSX. R-types, In the Hunt, Thunder Force
5(assumingly better on Saturn), Raystorm & Raycrisis. Also,
R-type Delta is really cool. It's 2d based. In
otherwords, it's side scrolling rather than 1st person. Oh
yeah, same goes for Einhander. But Saturn & Turbo rule
for shooters. In my opinion, Turbo is better, since,
the newer shooters, they tend to put too much on
screen at once, & it gets confusing!! But, with the
Turbo, they can't put too much on there, without
crashing the system.
oh, My FAV Raiden is a tie between Raiden 2
for
PC (Windows 9x), and The Raiden Project
for
Playstation. The Raiden project was both arcade ports of
both
1 and 2. The down side was, although true to
the
arcade game, with slightly remixed music, and a
panarama
mode to make the screen fit the TV resolution, it
had
1 problem. Between levels there was
MASSIVE
load
time for game that is so simple... PSX isnt very
good
for any 2-D games (although I am glad Capcom
managed
Street Fighter Alpha 3 so well on it).
Speaking of Raiden Trad. I have played all 3
16-bit versions, & the Turbo has got to be the best,
espcially if you have Super Raiden, for the music. The only
let down, is it's only 1 player, & no paralax, which
coudl've been done easily, but oh well. Anyways, the SNES
version is probably 2nd best, cuz the music & graphics
are sharper than the Gen, but, the Gen does have some
of the animations on the ground(people, cows, etc),
that the SNES is totally missing, while the Turbo has
all of it, including the shadows of the things that
come up from the ground(example, where the first boss
comes from). The Turbo seems to have the sharest
graphics, plus, all the little details. Thought I would
mention that. Oh yeah, on Duo's, TZD I think still has
some left, unless, they recently sold out. They had a
new shipment in along with TG's & TE's. And on
fighters, the best fighters, along with SF, are Flash
Hiders, Art of Fighting, World Heroes 2, Fatal Fury
Special, Algunos(aside from the music), Advanced VG, &
there's probably a few others. Maybe Asuka 100% Burining
Fest or whatever it's called.
Thanx for all the info! Wow, this club is
great
:) Yes, I can imagine you'd need a multiread
CDROM
(or any CDRW, cuz those are multiread by nature) to
run CD games on an emulator. You must keep in mind
all those game discs use "Mixed Mode" so it's
slightly harder to copy, and easier to make games for the
system hardware.
Well, if you're not too far away from big apple,
you can visit one of our member's store (he manages

Well Magic Engine is a good alternative to a
Trubo Duo cause my Duo is weird in that sometimes it
works fine and other times it just crashing. Here's a
brief list of games that I have gotten to work on Magic
Engine. There's probably more but that is all I can think
of at the moment.

Y's 1 and 2
Y's

I have sold CDR's to a guy that uses Magic Engine
and here's a tip he told me about. When you play a CD
for the first time, Magic Engine scans the entire
disc and stores the information where each track
resides on that disc. Now if you go and put a CDR in or
had previously played a CDR and try to play an
original, the two discs could be just a little different
and Magic engine won't play it. All this information
is stored in a file called log.txt. To fix this just
go to the Magic Engine directory and delete the
log.txt file and this forces Magic Engine to "look again"
at the CD and store all the info anew. Hope this
might help some of you with your problems.
Another thing is, imperfect PCE cdr's, where the
burning software screwed up the 4 sec gap and the tracks
don't play on a Duo system... -will play correctly on
Magic Engine.

Also, those of you who've had
trouble running Duo cd's on Magic Engine, -the biggest
hurdle is your CD-ROM. If its shitty, it'll have trouble
reading alot of the games.
Well, does anyone know a good supplier of Turbo
Duos (American Turbo Duo all-in-one system)? And does
anyone know how capable the Hu Card emulation is? I am
seriously conciding Turbo Duo because between the Hu Cards
and the CDROM, it had tons of great games. The only
big disappointment is that the Street Fighter 2 on it
was only for Japanese hu card... But no worries, I
own Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Capcom vs SNK :) very
happy street fighting, and Rival Schools 2 is about to
be released on Dreamcast. Thanx for that list of
shooters for SNES. I tried Raiden Trad (more or less a
port of Raiden 1 to snes) but the IRQ conflict this
Compaq peice of crap my grandpa owns prevented
ACCEPTABLE use. I am working on building my own PC right
now. Athlon 1ghz, 128 meg DDR ram, Geforce 2 GTS with
TV out, 8x DVD, 12x10x32x CDRW with burn proof,
Soundblaster 128 (cuz it was free, will upgrade later), ATA100
30 gig IBM HD, and Road Runner cable modem service
to top it all off. All this, with a few extra
touches, a decent printer/scanner and it's only $1200 or
so. Any how... no clue why I decided to speak about
that, but within 2 weeks, i will have my computer
finished. If anyone has any other good suggestions for
Turbo Duo ROMs, SNES roms, and Win2k compatible PC
games, speak up, please. You have all been a great help.
thank you very much.

Does Magic Engine run in on the Windows NT Kernal
(Windows NT/2000/XP)? That's why I value SNES9x. It's a
beautiful emulator. I love those old school games, and
Turbo Duo would be great to emulate, but sinse I don't
waste my time on Windows 9x (95,98,98se, Millenium) it
MAY cause some... "complications". If anyone has
massive details of Magic Engine, please enlighten me

I'd say it's well worth $15 to get the emulator,
some CD games don't work on computers with this

Hey, Recently, it's been broguth to my attention
that with Windows 2000/XP (virtually the same OS) most
Windows 9x/ME games wont work. All of my Sega PC games
(other than Sonic 3D Blast, and Sega Rally 2, both of
which Sega can keep lol), and my other retro games wont
work... Raiden 2, possibly Puzzle Fighter PC, Darious
Gaiden, etc... I was curious if anyone knew any REALLY
good 2-D space scrolling shooters for SNES (as SNES is
the most effectively emu'd system as of now in
Win2k/XP). I already know most of the best puzzle games
(Puyo Puyo, Tetris, Tetris Attack, etc, etc). Any other
good games I should be mad aware of (obscure, but
awesome Japanese games, maybe)? Does anyone know anything
about Turbo Duo emulation, and if any (including
PAY-FOR emulators) have Turbo Duo CD support?
