Awesome, I just got back from a trip and had the chance to try it
out. It works great!
I also downloaded the new version of mame as well, dual lightguns
work now but offscreen reload for gun #2 doesn't making it pretty
much usless still... Guess I can't have it all :-(
LOL, Thanks for the update to HOTD3!

If you have the HD space just make a virutual drive. Then you never need to try and find a crack. Your computer will think that it has a bunch of CD drives tho. That is what I use.

As for your other suggestions, I actually have started an experimental key remapping project. I plan to merge it into the Troubleshooter eventually. I even thought about a "quit" key function. Seems we think alike, you and I.
As you probaly guessed from my previous posts I run all my lightgun games on a dedicated mame cabinet. The problem with that is I have to move a 300+ pound monster out if I want to access the CD rom inside. My solution is to install all the games via a wireless network and then get a no cd crack from gamecopyworld.com so I don't need the cd in the drive to play.
This has worked flawlessly for me up untill now. If I use the cracked exe file for HOTD3 troubleshooter does not work. It works fine with the original however if I have the CD in the drive.
Would it be hard to add support for the no cd version of this game?
Also one more suggestion, for dedicated cabinet gamers like myself. Would it be hard to include a function to remap the games buttons to ones that are available on the cabinet so I don't have to pull out the keyboard to start the game or navigate the menues.
Another great feature would be the ability to set an exit game key (Excape) so no matter what game you are playing you can exit out instantly with one button.
Currently I use command line wrappers from http://www.oscarcontrols.com/lazarus/ they let me terminate whatever program I launch with them with the excape key. I like to completly avoid a keyboard & mouse if possible on my cabinet.
I think you could open up a whole new audience for the troubleshooter by integrating some of the above features.
Currently I run MameWah as the menu program for my mame cabinet. It allows you to set up different emulators or programs that can be launched using the joysticks & buttons that are on your cabinet. Well, I finally gave in and downloaded the latest MAME source code, and set up a build environment, etc...
I have good news, and better news.
The good news is that MAME has not dropped support for dual lightguns. It's just a bug in the more recent code that causes MAME to ignore the second gun in Windows XP (I think it might still work in Windows 98). But aside from that one bug, the rest of the code required to handle dual guns is all still there.
The better news is that I've fixed the bug and submitted my fix to the MAME team. I don't know if they'll accept my fix, or when it will be merged into the core. But it's on its way. If all goes well, the dual TV lightguns will work again in future releases.
It seems mame has simply dropped support for the act labs TV guns. Is it even possible to make thetroubleshooter support mame, at least so us TV gun users didn't waste our money buying two guns??
I paid almost $300.00 for my pair (Yeah, I know act labs is making them again) on ebay and only one works with any remotly recient version of mame.
I know you would be the savior to tons of mame cabinet owners that got suckered in to buying 2 tv guns..
It seems mame has simply dropped support for the act labs TV guns. Is
it even possible to make thetroubleshooter support mame, at least so us
TV gun users didn't waste our money buying two guns??
I paid almost $300.00 for my pair (Yeah, I know act labs is making them
again) on ebay and only one works with any remotly recient version of
mame.
I know you would be the savior to tons of mame cabinet owners that got
suckered in to buying 2 tv guns..
Thanks in advance,
Jeremy
Sorry for the delay. My computer was out of service for a few days. But I finally figured out what the problem is. I'm guessing you have two TV guns, correct? It seems that Sega decided to map Mouse Button 3 (which the TV Light Gun reports for the trigger when set for Player 2) as a Start button.
It might take a bit of effort on my part to get this worked out. Sorry! I'll try to have an update soon.
Still having same problem - I checked the key assignments and they are set to default; but still pauses game when player 2 fires. Player 2 reload works fine.
Sorry to keep bugging you, but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yeah HOTD3 - sorry forgot to mention that.
Will try it when I get home.

Installed new troubleshooter and am having a problem.
Player 1 works fine, but player 2 when you pull the trigger instead of shooting, it pauses the game. Do I need to change the keyboard mapping for the game or am I missing something?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for all your hardwork.
PS. tried it with HOTD2 (Xplosiv) and still works great.
Jon,
Installed new troubleshooter and am having a problem.
Player 1 works fine, but player 2 when you pull the trigger instead
of shooting, it pauses the game. Do I need to change the keyboard
mapping for the game or am I missing something?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for all your hardwork.
PS. tried it with HOTD2 (Xplosiv) and still works great.
Thanks
Tom
At long last, the new version of The Troubleshooter is now available at
http://thetroubleshooter.home.mindspring.com.
Supports House of the Dead 3, and EPSXE (Playstation Emulator)
Enjoy! I hope it's worth the wait. :-)

"We have received many e-mails asking us about the PC USB Light Gun and TV Light Gun after we sold our last unit in 2004. ACT Labs is considering one final manufacturing run for customers still wanting to purchase a unit. As soon as we reach 250 units in pre-orders, we will ask our factory to proceed with production. Because of the small quantity to be manufactured, we have lost our volume discount and prices have increased. ACT Labs thanks you for your support and we hope that we can reach the minimum order quantity shortly. Watch this page for updates."
These are the only decent PC light guns ever made, folks. Don't miss your chance!
I don't think the game has any option to change the brightness. But most modern video cards allow you to adjust the brightness levels in the Windows control panel.
Subject: Re: [pclightguns] Alternatives to ACT LABS USB GUN????
Glad to hear about the new version for HOTD 3. Also does anyone know how to brighten up the game. I can not see what I am shooting half the time. (And yes I have turned it up on the TV <GRIN> )
Don't give up hope. The Troubleshooter is not dead. I'm just really slow at updating it. A new version will be out very soon that supports House of the Dead 3, and also has basic support for ePSXe. The only PSX lightgun games I have tested are "Time Crisis" and "Time Crisis: Project Titan". But they both work pretty well.
At the moment, there are no viable alternatives to the Act Labs guns. I don't think any of the real arcade lightguns can be interfaced with a PC yet, though I do believe somebody somewhere is working on a USB interface for those things. Personally, I'm keeping my eye on the RGT gun from E-Real Games (http://www.erealgames.com). So far their gun is only for consoles. But I've heard that they're working on a PC version. If that ever comes out, I will make a new version of the Troubleshooter to support the RGT gun. I will also see what I can do to make it work in MAME.
Subject: [pclightguns] Alternatives to ACT LABS USB GUN????
Hi, I have a wierd question so here goes...I am planning on building a mame cabinet over the summer. So I want it to have light guns...luckily enough I ordered some ACT LABS USB GUNS late last year expecting to get my building of the mame cabinet underway sooner. I also bought a regular TV to use them with. So anyways enough of my story here's the question...is the Troubleshooter patch going to be updated any time soon? or should i give up hope on it? I was hoping to play some Guncon games in an PSX emulator. Also the ultimate question is are there any alternative light guns that work in mame and also games like virtual cop or the house of the dead's? I've seen some light guns at happs control and arcadeemulator.net but i'm not sure about the interface with the TV and the computer! If anyone has tried those guns please tell me your experience!!! Thank you! - Digital Dark

That sucks! I have always thought that they were well made guns, and the were not the expensive. I have not seen much anything good about any of the other ones out.

Just wanted to let you guys know that this guy has more of these. I
just got one from him last night. Seen others on EBay for $25 plus
shipping. This guy is $18 shipped, and he has good feed back.
