Just wanted to let you guys know that I found a cute game called
CHICKEN HUNTER at WalMart. Not a hard game but it is cute. Works
well with the Act guns also.

Go around blasting chickens, they are fishing, flying, even poking a
hornets nest with a stick. It is made by ENCORE software. I can
not find any place that has pics online.

$10 at WalMart, just in with there computer software. Only thing
bad is that you stil need to use a mouse to scroll the screen right
or left.

Later all,

John

The shipping was £8.50.  The total amount charged to my credit card for the game + shipping was $50.03 (US Dollars).

How much did they charge for shipping?

Like House of the Dead 2, it does not natively support two players using light guns simultaneously.  But you can use the Act Labs gun for a single player game and it works great.  I will be working hard in the coming week to create a TroubleShooter profile for this game, so that we can use two guns in two player mode.

Still no word an a North American release.  But I ordered my copy from http://gameplay.co.uk. It shipped on Feb 10, and I received it today (Feb 22).

I would haft to say ZERO POINT in mame.  I can not seem to get 2 guns to work good at the same time tho.  Not sure what is up with that.

I agree.  I'm not sure the shot guns were the best way to go.  It's a neat gimmick, but they aren't quite as satisfying as the handguns.

I haven't heard of any PC version of VC3.  But you never know.  Sega seem to have taken a moderate interest in PC development again, so maybe one day.

I also really like the old American Laser Games titles (Mad Dog McCree, Who Shot Johnny Rock, etc.).  They're cheesy as hell, but they bring back good memories.

I'm guessing they just weren't selling enough of them to be able to support the cost of production.  They discontinued they're excellent steering wheel for the same reason.  Frankly, I'm surprised they're still selling the TV light guns.  I keep expecting those to disappear as well.  Get 'em while you can folks!

I'm using MAME32 (v. 85) with a Act Labs USB TV lightgun.
It works in Windows as a "mouse".

I played Police Trainer and Aliens3:The Gun with trackball and the
lightgun to compare what happened. With the trackball, I have two
sets of crosshairs moving around. With the lightgun, one set of

are going, despite it being calibrated fine for desktop use.

Any suggestions for things I could try?

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the reply!

Interestingly enough - I hooked it up to my PC via an SVGA monitor
and voila! Worked. In XP as well! The lower the res went, the
better the perormance - including the further I went from the monitor
itself. Had a ball with 1st person shooters like Area51 - was
accurate enough. Alas - bought it for my arcade cab and arcade
monitor but no dice - not compatible. For sale on Ebay now :)

THANK YOU FOR THE INFO!!
Now - if anyone can point me to where I can get a ActLabs USB Light
gun that is arcade monitor compat - I will gladly pay top dollar! :)

Thats great.  I saw it was out for the XBox.  I did not know that it was going to come out for the PC.  I will haft to get a preorder out on it I guess.  Hope that it is as good as HOTD2.  I have not been able to find a cheap copy of HOTD1 to try out yet.

Other than the version in MAME,which you'd need a supercomputer to play, are there any other versions of CarnEvil out there for the PC?And has anyone heard when House of the Dead 3 will be out for the PC?

James,

My first question to you is what operating system are you using? The
Virtual gun only works with Win98 and WinME, it will be recognized
by WinXP, but it does not work.

Hope this helps.

CRT-based light guns (for TVs or computer monitors) do not project any light.  So you won't see any light coming from the gun.  See (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightgun) for a good explanation of how light guns work.  Most (if not all) light guns on the market use the second method described on that page.

As for why your gun isn't working, I have no idea.  Have you tried it out on a regular computer monitor?  If you ever get it working, please let us know what your solution was.

Hey guys,

Psyched to see there's a light gun forum alive for Mamers.  Getting
info is like pulling teeth these days.

So - purchased a Lik Sang Virtual Gun off of Ebay - can't get it to
work with my mame cab.  I'm running off of an arcade monitor via
Andy's Arcade VGA and Jpac.  Tried all res and brightness -
nothing.

Beginning to wonder if the gun itself is broken.  Should I actually
be seeing a "light flash" from the barrel of the gun when I pull the
trigger?  Or a red glow, something?  I get zip.  Maybe the gun is
broken.  Or maybe its not compat.  Figured I'd make my first post
here as moronic sounding as possible :)

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
James
