Hello, I am new to this group. I am currently working on a MAME
conversion from an old Joust upright cabinet. Just last week I added
a lightgun to the cabinet. I took a chance on the LCD Topgun based
on reviews at arcadecontrols.com. I was going to buy the Act-labs
gun, but I figured I would give this one a chance. Anyway, so far
not too bad. If anyone has feedback about this gun let me know.

I have gotten it to work with lots of MAME games and the House of the
Dead III demo somewhat. I am hoping to get it to work with
Revolution X, but so far I have not been able to. When the game
starts I can fire, but when I move the gun the crosshairs only seem
to stay on the sides of the screen. Anyone have this problem?

Also I am trying to get the gun to work with SNES emulator ZSNES.
Anyone know how to properly setup the lightgun to work with it?

If you want to see a picture on what my cabinet with the gun looks
like check out the link below. If you look closely you can see the
led stands for the gun.

http://home.wowway.com/~rreilley6082/photos/100_0935.html

Thanks

I might be missing something but can anyone get the Act Light Guns to
work under Mame 110. I have tried MameFX and Mame32. They both will
not unghost the light guns button under the controlers.

If someone know what I am messing up let me know. The older versions
of Mame 98 back I never had any probs.

Anyone need an Act Labs lightgun for their PC? Ive got one I need to
sell. Its one of the "new style" guns that cost you $79.99+S&H at the
act labs website. This is exactly what I have,Check out this link:

  http://www.act-labs.com/scripts/proddetails.asp?Pid=92

The gun is about 5-6 months old, and hasnt been played that much. The
condition is like brand new! Ill take $50 for it. Free ground
shipping for US mainlands. Paypal payment only. If anyone is
interested, please let me know.

I will make an attempt to try that with mame, though I know it requires a bit of configuration and time to spend. I am also looking for PC games with lightgun support (old and new). Any idea which games support lightguns? Also I have heard about small flash games that support that - any help ?

Hi Hal,

I have heard of the LCD Top Gun.  Looks cool.  Eventually, I plan to get my hands on one and work it into the Troubleshooter.  Unfortunately, this is a hobby for me, and I haven't had much time for it lately.  Too many higher priorities.  As such, improvements to the Troubleshooter have been extremely slow going.  Same applies to the spam in the Yahoo group.  I just don't have the time right now.

The project is not dead, though.  I still like these games and still plan to improve the Troubleshooter at some point.

I also have about the same setup. Have you used the
command line argument "-multiplemicexp -lightgun"?
You may or may not have to change the inputs to
recognize the gun trigger as button 1. There is a
menu option that lets you set which mouse to use for
players 1 and 2. This option may have to be changed.

Can you tell me more about your system?

What operating system? What monitor? Which version of
MAME Analog+?

I was able to make the lightguns work in AdvanceMAME
too, but you have to callibrate them like a joystick
each time you play a game. Even though I can play
AdvanceMAME at a higher version, I decided to still
use MAME Analog+ because the accuracy was lower on
some of my favorite games (Lethal Enforcers 2), and
there were very few new games on the newer version
that I wanted to play.

Aaron,

Could you tell me how to make 2 PC USB lightguns work in tandem??

I have tried fiddling with Analog mame to no avail.

If anyone else is using 2 USB lightguns please tell me how to make them work
as Player 1 and Player 2. The best I managed was that I could use both guns
but only player 1 registered the scores.

Has anyone tried out AdvanceMAME + XP + 2 PC USB Lightguns? I have
heard that AdvanceMAME has 2 player lightgun support. My setup works
well now with AnalogMAME+, but I would like to play some of the newer
versions of MAME. AnalogMAME+ hasn't been updated in more than a year.

I am using 2 ActLabs TV guns.  As far as 2 mice, if they are both standard hookup just get a usb adapter for them.  I have 1 mouse pluged into the ps2 plug and the other pluged into a usb adapter from walmart.  I think that it was about $15.  I just takes a standard mouse and keyboard and makes it so they can plug into a single USB port.

Give this a try and see if it does what you are wanting to do.

MAME works with 2 TV USB lightguns, just not 2 PC USB
lightguns.  These same MAME forums indicate that
AdvanceMAME works for multiple mice in XP.  I have

lightguns, but I haven't tried it yet.

Jon from TROUBLESHOOTER fixed the reg. version of Mame I think back in vers. 87.  I use Mame32FX ver. .98 and it has not trouble with 2 guns.  If nothing else try Mame32 out and see if you have any luck.  I can get you some links if you can not find it.  Also you will prob. need a new rom set, I never had much luck upgrading Mame versions with old rom sets.

Are you using TROUBLESHOOTER for HOTD?  If so just make sure both of the players are set to keyboard and you should be ready to go.  Mine work great on Mame 98 I have not tried any of the newer ones.  Jon (from troubleshooter) fixed the prob. with 2 guns with mame.  I am not sure what version his fix went into.  If you need a older copy of mame let me know I can email .98 to you.

You are using these on a TV also right?  With SVideo or composite?

Hi, I just got 2 TV Guns and pretty much have them working, although
getting 2 players in MAME to work seems impossible. But my question
right now is after I calibrate my guns they wont shoot on the bottom
portion of the screen. This happens in wndows (cant even get close to
shooting the taskbar) as well as games. In HOTD3 I cannot shoot the
zombies that are crawling on the ground on the lower portion of the
screen. The middle and upper portions work great, very accurate.
I found one other person on the BYOAC forum with this problem but no
solution.

I emails Act-Labs and this is what I got back:

"Can you calibrate with only Windows Desktop, and then to shoot the
icon on the bottom and to verify if the problem is a hardware setting
or a software issue. If the shooting is still no good on Windows
desktop, then it is a hardware problem, might have to change the TV
or video card, if the shooting on Windows Desktop is good, then the
setting is changed when you launch a game. To solve this issue,
recalibrate after you launch the game, and if the screen of the game
become much smaller, use the edge of the smaller screen to do the
calibration (that is to start and stop at the smaller screen, not the
TV screen --- you might need a sticker to mark the edge as the
calibration command will make the whole screen white) and this should
solve the problem."

Does anyone have any other advice because this did not work and I am
not about to go buy another TV or video card. I am using a brand new
Geforce 6600GT and a brand new 27 inch Emmerson TV.

Well even if you're not looking for love, and just a bit of fun thought I'd give
you all this tip. So you can stay away from all the BS fake profiles places.
This is what I've been using http://www.successwithchicks.info/tijf . No joke,
I've messaged about 5 women close to me and already 3 have responded, and I am
already organising to meet up with one. Not bad for a guy who hasn't had a date
in a while, lol! :)
