I also have about the same setup. Have you used the
command line argument "-multiplemicexp -lightgun"?
You may or may not have to change the inputs to
recognize the gun trigger as button 1. There is a
menu option that lets you set which mouse to use for
players 1 and 2. This option may have to be changed.

Jon from TROUBLESHOOTER fixed the reg. version of Mame I think back in vers. 87. I use Mame32FX ver. .98 and it has not trouble with 2 guns. If nothing else...
