If your nervous to do it you could always just buy a polystation and use an adaptor to play nes games. That was my solution. Works nice and has a famicom slot built in.
The only problem with the top loading NES is its lack of AV ports. I found this site http://www.gamesx.com/rgbadd/nes2avmod.htm which shows you how to do it (most people should know of the site). But I dont have the guts to pull my top loader apart. It took too long to get one and I dont want to risk pulling it apart yet.

By the way http://www.gamesx.com/index2.htm is a great mod site. It
has mods for heaps of systems and lots of information.
Toploaders kick ass.

Friends. Fun. Try the all-new Yahoo! Messenger.

If you look on ebay you can find actual nintendo controllers that have been made into a usb controller that your emulator can use. I use it to play the newer games that hobbyist are writing and some older ones that I own the carts for. Very nice solution and no blinking screen.
From my understanding, different NES games have different memory mappers that each functioned differently. I think you would have to design a seperate flash cart for each memory mapper that exists if you wanted to play every game that exists. I believe that there are a total of 256 different mappers out there. There's no disk system that reads the roms that PC emulators use. Not like the SNES, which had lots of different floppy based copiers, one of which I own. I think you're better of sticking to your PC emulators or, better yet, actually buying the carts. - Scherzo

I have been searching the net for info on a perticular mod that i
want to do with little or no sucess. Is it possible and if so how,
to tun ROMs on the NES itself rather than through and emulator on
the PC. I have seen some mods that actually mod the circuitboad
inside a cart so that it has connectors to enable upload to the
RAM/ROM but i find it very confusing. Basically all i want is to be
able to play ROMs on my NES. Any help that you can provide would be
greatly apprtiated. Thanx
Subject: [nesmodifications] NES on a chip WITH CONNECTOR
I work at a gaming store that sells the Ultimate Ninja Super Power Mecca Joy mk III that Ben Heckendorn (http://www.classicgaming.com/vcsp) is using for the upcoming portable NES. We have two models. The first model comes with a 76-in- 1 cart that plugs into a n64 style controller. Board is very small. Second one has 128 NES games built in to a Dreamcast style controller, but still has the cart connector in the back. Board is only slightly larger than the other, but the connector is parallel to the board, rather than perpendicular. Both have a port for the included 2nd player controller/light gun, battery compartment (4AA), DC jack + adapter, A/V cables, and cart connector. 76-in-1 is $45 and 128-in-1 is $50. If you're interested, e-mail me at dudegladstone@.... I get 75% off most shipping, including international.

If you guys are interested in NES game development....
There's some info on my site - www.neshq.com
Some info at The Fridge - http://www.ffd2.com/fridge/
Excellent (and very comprehensive) info at NesDev -

Also, there's an IRC chatroom for NES development on Efnet - irc.efnet.org,

I just downloaded all the lecture notes. Im going to have a look at
them and see what its like. It would be mad to have more courses
like this. I haven't looked at the games yet, but I will later.
Everyone should have a look at the site.

Before you do that you might wanna cruise over to Grand NESTral station since it's got almost all NES Sites (plus a lot of dead sites as well). http://nestral.topcities.com/
Hello,
If any of you are interested there is a yahoo group looking to start
a NES championship type deal in the near future. (Kind of like the
old power fests in the late '80s early '90s.) The moderator just got
word that if the group received 1,000 members they can get
sponsorship from several companies and write ups in a few video game
mags. Just follow this site to join the yahoo group.

We are very few now, (well very, very, few anyways) but imagine if
this thing actually took off!!! Way cool.

Yo, you into Cat? Dang thats cool, or wait, if not,

There was alot of crap vinyl. There were some alright ones. There
was 4 rolling stones albums and some cat stevens. But they kinda

Damn Joe, you got ripped, well, The Slipknot was worth
it. God I wish I had that on Vinyl. I did how ever
recently buy Dimmu Borgir's album Death Cult
Armageddon, which is sweet, considing the price I paid
for it.

Most people don't know that vinyl is still made in
limited production in the united states. Alot of
newer music has a version on vinyl. In Europe it is
still in full production, you can go into the local
music store and buy anything on vinyl just like cd
(which is really cool).
When I was in france I bought "Iowa" by slipknot, the
missing persons greatest hits and "the doors" by the
doors (obviously). Unfortunatly I didn't get them for
free, paid about $12 U.S. for each of them.
