It will not be that simple. With so many different mappers used to manage
large memory, making one cart that does all would be fairly complicated. At
best wiuld be something like a PLC to handle the mappers and load the
appropierate one with certain game ROM like emulator and using RAM chips to
store NES ROMs. There are still a number of mappers not reverse engineered
yet, mainly on lesser common Japanese games and many pirated hacks. Also to
be able to store and manage multiple battery saved games as well.

Think like building an emulator program but using real NES hardware rather
than emulating PPU and CPU.

It would be MUCH easier to build a MAME type platform and just run NES
emulator using adapter to hook standard NES controllers to the PC.

That's not the same thing. That guy is just making a re-programmable
cart; many have done the same thing before and after.

What the OP wanted was to have a modern interface, like USB / CF /
whatever.

I was going to do a similar thing, but with an integrated 2.5" mini
hard-disk containing ROMs and a PC interface to download more. That
project is very low on my list though, because I don't really have
that much free time.

This is an excellant idea . . . depending on production cost, i am
the first to buy one from you, once you get all the bug
out. . .k . . .

buying one from you if you ever decided to sell them. Good luck and

after removing layers of dust we finally played some good old NES
games today!!

to have even more fun with the box i'm planning to create my custom
cartridge with connectivity to the modern world (USB, CompactFlash or
Ethernet) - just to ease the upload of a cartridge backup.

it will also be able to emulate the known PRG/CHR/RAM pinouts and
memory mappers of the original cartridges.

does anybody know if someone else already did something in that
direction? wouldn't be that much fun with the soldering iron if i'd
waste my time here :)

any help in the project is apreciated.

I think the 'fake stereo' involved having the sqare wave on one
channel and the triangles on the other or something.

You are better off using a cable splitter than actually modding your NES. Both methods will give you the same sound, not "stereo" though. Both outputs will give you mono sound only.  But if you feel like  modding it anyway, here is a link that can help you with that.

Good luck!

I don't think there is a way to go about doing so, I know you can do a
fake stereo but I don't remember how to off the top of my head.

Use a cable splitter. 1 RCA male end, 2 RCA female ends.
The NES cannot produce stereo sound, so this "stereo" you're going to
get
is nothing more that 2xMono.

Or if you want a more convincing stereo effect, plug the same joypad
into
two NESes with the same game running p-)

The graphics were fine, no problems at all with them. Now when the
battery dies, the colors fade to grey then the system shuts off
compleatly. Also when the batterys are dead you can plug in your wall
power supply and power the machine up again with that but make sure
the battery's removed.

Hello... I have a top loader NES and I want to hook it up to my TV. But
there isn't a place for the RF switch. My SNES can hookup to this TV
because of its multiout. Is there any type of multiout converter for
the NES, or any way I can bypass the RF Switch?

Thanks!

i changed my LED from red to green, I removed the LED put the
voltmeter on the two terminals and came up with 5.06 volts replaced
the LED with a green one and it works fine no problems.

Ok, I post the roms on the site. I hope everybody likes it!
I remember some hacked rom versions I have played early:
    - A Double Dragon 3 that you could change the scene with start+a;
    - A Super Mario Bros that you could solect the start stage with a
and b on the title screen;
    - A teenage mutant ninja turtles that you could select your stage
with select;
    - A turtles 3 that already had the option screen enabled;
    - A rockman 3 that pressing right on second controller made you do
a higher jump and, if you have fall a hole, you come back invencible;
    - A Batman that the first stage music is the second;
    - A Batman Return of the Joker that you needed to get only 2 B's to
get invencible.
I will tri to get these cartridges and dump it. If you have anyone of
these, remember some other (undumped) hacked cartridge, or, better,
have one of thesa laying around and don't know what to do, talk to me.
Maybe I can dump then all!!!
Tanks
