The only problem with the top loading NES is its lack of AV ports. I found this site http://www.gamesx.com/rgbadd/nes2avmod.htm which shows you how to do it...

If your nervous to do it you could always just buy a polystation and use an adaptor to play nes games. That was my solution. Works nice and has a famicom slot...
