There are a few unlicensed NES games (such as the Camerica games) that may not work without the lockout chip.  Personally I just snipped pin 4 off and left it at that as there aren't any unlicensed games worth playing (well, Tengen Tetris but they work fine)

Why would you want a switch in the first place? Won't your modified nes play all games once the lockout chip has been disabled? I have a famiclone which obviously doesn't have a lockout chip and it play all of my nes games just fine. Did I just get lucky?

With the NES lockout chip mod has anyone totally removed the chip then cut the leg of the chip then replaced it? Also has anyone tried installing a switch so... 		rimma_69

All it takes is two pieces of wire, and something to put between them to keep from shorting the circuit. I recommend using a round toggle switch from radio ...
