With the NES lockout chip mod has anyone totally removed the chip
then cut the leg of the chip then replaced it? Also has anyone tried
installing a switch so you can turn the chip on and off?

There are a few unlicensed NES games (such as the Camerica games) that may not work without the lockout chip. Personally I just snipped pin 4 off and left it...
