As an author of that, I can say:
This verilog source has nothing to do with actual autoconfiguring RAM
in de1 minimig, if it is to be implemented.
Just because there will be nothing similar: no similar CPU i-face, no
similar DRAMs, etc.
Autoconfig by itself is a simple thing.

Major objective about adding 8mb of RAM is the SDRAM size of DE1. It
is only 8Mb for everything.
