Using numeric keyboard as joystick may be useful (although I prefer
using a real joystick)

What about using Left Windows+Left Alt for left mouse button and Right
Windows (or Menu because some keyboards lack right windows key) and
Right Alt for Right mouse button?
On AmigaOS it's normal to emulate mouse buttons this way so that mouse
button emulation won't interfere with typical behaviour (so you can
have it always switched on) and will be more intuitive for Amiga
users.
