The game is pretty slow in 10 as well, but the pause before each creature
moves was only a few seconds, not close to a minute for me.

The AI is horrible too. They can't do anything.

I believe a patch is in the works. Please contact 3DO's customer support to
improve the chances of things being fixed by a patch.

Some tips:
Turning music off helps a lot.
