The AGB has a CGB chipset!

It's in the specs that were released a while back

as for power usage, consider that only one chipset will be enabled at a time
& the major power usage would be by the LCD anyway

nope - the AGB has a flat memory model :). CGB compatibility is apparently acheived with an onboard CGB chipset. Dave...
