i have no facts, but i would guess that the gbc support is emulated,
since, as you pointed out it will take less power then having a complete
gbc chipset in the handheld aswell.

of what i heard, initial cartridge sizes for GBA will be 256mbit (!!) that
is 32mbytes to play with, cartridge size of 512 mbit will also exist. since
the memory map is 32bit wide, mapping wouldnt be any problems

nope - the AGB has a flat memory model :). CGB compatibility is apparently acheived with an onboard CGB chipset. Dave...
