it may be slooow, but some machines don't have legacy ports -- Macs, for
example.
I would love to be able to use my MBV2 cable over USB -- then, I could move
my development environment over to my iBook using OS X. Instead, I get to
use my work laptop with w2k -- the one that won't sleep properly when
docked, which means that I have to reboot it between home and work and back
again. Usually, I use the iBook to surf the web while waiting for the pc to
boot :D
At least the new flash linker is USB based... :)

I don't think anyone will be very enthusiastic about this approach
once they realize that the GameShark uses a low-speed USB chip that
isn't designed for high data transfer rates. :-\ Just added the following
