Jagfest 2002 Goes to New Dimensions
For Immediate Release:
June 1st, 2002
(St. Louis, MO.)-- In what could be considered an unprecedented move, the
organizers of The Sixth Annual Atari Jaguar Festival have decided to broaden
the scope of the event by showcasing not only the Atari Jaguar, but classic and
next generation systems. Adding to this, Jagfest 2k2 will also provide an
avenue for creators of "homebrew" software to show their creations to the
world.
Last years Jagfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin set the stage by allowing non Atari
systems to have a limited presence. This year that idea will be taken further
by making their inclusion official.
James Garvin, owner of OMC Games and a principal organizer of this year's
Jagfest, states: "Jagfest symbolizes what can happen when a group of gamers
actually care about their games, and it has survived this long because of
dedication from its community. Our goal is to insure that Jagfest will survive
for years to come, and to do this the concept of what Jagfest stands for can be
expanded to include gaming in general. The "Jag" in Jagfest won't be lost,
though. It will still retain a major presence in the show, but gamers of all
types should be able to share some of the same heritage that has kept the
Jaguar alive after all of these years. This change is just a natural
progression of the show."
Daniel Iacovelli, Founder and President of The Atari Video Club and
co-organizer of this year’s Jagfest also states:” The addition of old school
and next generation will add a new dimension to the event. My club has seen the
progression of this event since its start in 1997, from just Atari
Jaguar and Lynx being shown at the first event to the addition of classic
systems shown at the last year’s event, it just seemed natural to continue from
that plus extending it to new dimensions”.
The Sixth Annual Atari Jaguar Festival (dubbed Jagfest 2k2) is being held in
downtown St. Louis, Missouri at The Mayfair Wyndham Historic Hotel. (806 St.
Charles Street St.Louis, Missouri 63101. Phone: 314-421-2500) on Friday, July
12th and Saturday, July 13th 2002.

May 3, 2002 - Midwest Classic to Offer Two Special Edition 2600 Games
The Midwest Classic, a new classic computing, gaming and pinball show being
held in Milwaukee, WI for the first time on June 8, 2002 has announced two
more reasons why the Midwest Classic is going to be a can't-miss event --
two new versions of great Atari 2600 games!
Warring Worms
The first game that will be at the event is Baroque Gaming's Warring Worms.
Warring Worms was originally released in 2002, and is one of the best home
brew games to be released for the Atari 2600 ever! In the game, players
control their super-charged, biologically engineered worm in a duel to the
death in a style that resembles the popular game Nibbler that may be found
on many cellular phones today. Warring Worms features hundreds of different
game play options, including player vs. computer and player vs. player options.
"Warring Worms is a phenomenal game," stated Dan Loosen of the GOAT Store,
LLC. "The addictive and competitive game play resembles Combat. It is
incredible!"
The Midwest Classic version of Warring Worms will feature a special title
screen that the original version does not contain. The game will be able to
be purchased for $35.00 with the special packaging, and $25.00 without.
Berzerk: Special Edition
The second game that will be exclusive to the event is a new version of
Berzerk. While the original version of Berzerk was released in 1980, this
version is going to feature a musical addition by Paul Slocum. Paul Slocum
has already created a musical addition for Combat entitled Combat Rocks
which featured the music of the Clash, as well as creating the Synthcart, a
way to turn your Atari 2600 into a synthesizer! What song will Berzerk feature?
"Berzerk was a great game before," Gary Heil of the GOAT Store, LLC said,
"and this will just makes it better!"
The Midwest Classic version of Berzerk will feature a special title screen
that the original version does not contain, and it will play a special
version of a popular song while you blast away at the robots! The game will
be able to be purchased for $25.00.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Both Warring Worms and Berzerk will be limited edition runs that will only
be available for purchase at the Midwest Classic. The games will be hand
numbered by the creators! Both of the special edition games will be
featured in tournaments throughout the day, with the winner of the
tournament getting the first numbered copy of the game that they won the
tournament for!
If you are coming to the Midwest Classic and want to make sure that a copy
of either game will be there waiting for you, you may reserve either game
by visiting the GOAT Store's Web site at http://www.goatstore.com/ and then
visit the Midwest Classic page. Reservations cost $5.00 and must be paid
for by midnight on May 22. For more details about how the reservation
system works, please read the information contained in the descriptions.
For more information about the Midwest Classic, please visit the Official
Midwest Classic Web site at the GOAT Store (http://www.goatstore.com/). Dan
Loosen can be reached at loosen@... and Gary Heil can be reached

What is the Midwest Classic?
-------------------------------------
On June 30, 2001, the GOAT Store, LLC and Marty Goldberg teamed together to
bring Atari Jaguar Festival to Milwaukee, and it was considered by many to
be the best Jaguar Festival ever. This year, the GOAT Store, LLC and Marty
Goldberg are getting back together to bring gamers the biggest classic
gaming show of its type in the Midwest -- the Midwest Classic.
The Midwest Classic promises to offer visitors an incredible amount of
things to see and do. From pinball, to video games, to classic computers,
the Midwest Classic is shaping up to be a real classic event!
Pinball
Pinball was born in the Midwest, so it is only appropriate that the event
will feature the classic ball and flipper game. The GOAT Store, LLC will be
bringing a pinball machine to the event, and will be offering the chance to
see how a pinball works from the inside!
The Video Games
One of the features to many classic gaming events is the ability to see,
and play with, many rare systems and items, and the Midwest Classic will be
no exception. Marty Goldberg's Classic Gaming Museum will be vastly
expanded this year featuring everything from PONG to the machines currently
on the market.
"At Atari Jaguar Festival 2001, Marty Goldberg's gaming collection proved
to be one of the biggest attractions," stated Gary Heil of the GOAT Store,
LLC. "This year, the Classic Gaming Museum will be larger and more
comprehensive. We can't wait!"
The Classic Gaming Museum will feature nearly every video game system ever
released in the United States. The Midwest Classic will also feature many
video game related tournaments which attendees will be encouraged to
participate in during the day for lots of systems like the Atari 2600,
Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Genesis and more!
The Computers
As classic computer collectors know, sometimes there is nothing better than
an old computer. The Midwest Classic will feature many classic personal
computers from Atari, Commodore, Apple, Tandy and more!
Revisit the ways computers began. Visitors are encouraged to see if they
can remember what their favorite computer games were... and why attendees
who don't still have them need to get their old computers back!
And More!
The GOAT Store, LLC and Marty Goldberg promise that there will be a lot
more surprises in store for visitors to the Midwest Classic! Announcements
about exclusive Midwest Classic editions of some homebrew games, special
tournament prizes, and more will be coming in the next few weeks!
"The Midwest Classic is going to be a great event for anybody who wants to
learn a little bit about both video gaming and computer gaming history,
compete against new friends, trade games or just enjoy the day playing
great games," stated Dan Loosen of the GOAT Store, LLC. "The Midwest
Classic is going to be a true classic."
-------------------------------------
Midwest Classic Tickets Now On Sale
-------------------------------------
The GOAT Store, an online store specializing in the support of classic
video games, has begun selling tickets for the Midwest Classic which will
be held in Milwaukee, WI on June 8, 2002.
"The response to the event has been extremely positive already," stated
Gary Heil of the GOAT Store. "And now we are gearing up for what will
certainly be one of the most exciting gaming events to come to the Midwest!"
The event promises classic gaming and computing fans that they will be able
celebrate a glorious past through many classic systems with tournaments,
displays, one-of-a-kind offers and many other special events that will be
announced.
"We are working very hard right now to create the Midwest Classic to cater
to everyone." said Dan Loosen of the GOAT Store. "There is a lot of history
in the midwest, and we feel that it will be a great celebration!"
A ticket to the Midwest Classic will entitle the ticketholder to admission
to the event, an Official Midwest Classic Program and more! Admission for
the event is only $8.00 for those who pre-register before June 1, 2002, and
$10.00 for tickets after that date.
-------------------------------------
Midwest Classic Sponsors Announced
-------------------------------------
The GOAT Store, LLC, an online store specializing in the support of classic
video games today announced the line up of sponsors for the first ever
Midwest Classic. The event is being held June 8, 2002, in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin.
"The sponsors of the Midwest Classic," stated Gary Heil of the GOAT Store.
"Are two of the greatest classic gaming companies out there right now. They
have supported the Colecovision, Sega CD, Atari Jaguar and Atari Lynx with
countlesss new releases. We are honored to have their support for the
Midwest Classic."
The organizations involved with the sponsorship of the Midwest Classic are
also going to be sponsoring some the events most intense competitions.
The following organizations will be sponsoring the Midwest Classic:

Good Deal Games is the host of a Web site featuring video game music,
cartoons, audio interviews, trivia, classic video game advertisements and

PROTECT HAVEN-7 ONCE AGAIN!
March 15, 2002
For immediate release:
ROCHESTER, MN -- Anxious Jaguar fans will be happy to know that Protector:
Special Edition (P:SE) is almost here. The official release date is April 10,
2002, and the retail price is an incredible $74.95, which includes the bonus
glass-mastered Native Demo CD at no additional charge. Orders may be sent via
check/MO or PayPal starting on April 3, 2002.
P:SE builds on the immensely popular Protector for the Atari Jaguar with a
bundle of new and groundbreaking enhancements, including 40 all-new levels and
gameplay improvements to make the game even more enjoyable and challenging for
newcomers and pros alike. More jaw-dropping landscapes and backgrounds are sure
to keep players hungering for each new level, and several new songs have been
added to the mix as well. All-new for this version are a number of high-color
RGB title and special screens throughout the game, and some cool rewards for
players who dare to complete the game.
As if that wasn't enough, Songbird owner Carl Forhan also indicated that P:SE
will include two incredible features to help spur hobby development and lower
costs for future CD-based games: BJL and JagFree CD. BJL is an open hobby
protocol for downloading Jaguar games to RAM, and is a cost-effective
alternative for developing new games. JagFree CD allows new CD games to be
published and played easily on any consumer Jaguar CD unit. And the inclusion
of an all-new 2048 byte serial EEPROM for saved game data on P:SE allows room
for up to 15 games to hold data in addition to P:SE itself.
Several new JagFree CD software projects are currently under development; more
details will be forthcoming soon. Look for the copyrighted JagFree CD logo on
all current and future Jaguar CD software to ensure compatibility with the
versatile JagFree CD standard.

NEW JAGUAR AND LYNX GAMES ON THE PROWL IN 2002
For immediate release:
January 10, 2002
ROCHESTER, MN -- Two years ago today Songbird Productions announced the
acquisition of three properties from former Atari Lynx and Jaguar
developer Beyond Games, including the highly-anticipated CyberVirus.
Songbird today announced the official release date for CyberVirus as
February 18, 2002.
CyberVirus takes Lynx gaming to an entirely new level by offering 16
action-packed missions all set in an amazing 3D environment. You are a
soldier inserted deep into enemy territory, where you alone hold the key
to turn back the Cybot threat. Avoid land mines and hunt for weapon
prototypes while repelling robots, mutant spiders, and other enemies.
This general release of CyberVirus contains many new features, including
stealth armor, strafing movement, powerups, storyboards, an enhanced
mission select screen, new objectives, all-new cheats and easter eggs,
and more.
Songbird continues its tradition of unparalleled support for orphaned
Atari systems by also announcing the release of Protector: Special
Edition (P:SE) on April 10, 2002. This games builds on the immensely
popular Protector for the Atari Jaguar with a bundle of new
enhancements, including 40 all-new levels and improvements in gameplay
and balance to make the game fun and challenging for newcomers and pros
alike. More jaw-dropping landscapes and backgrounds are sure to keep
players hungering for each new level, and several new songs have been
added to the mix as well.
As if that wasn't enough, Songbird owner Carl Forhan also indicated that
P:SE will include two incredible features to help spur hobby development
and lower costs for future CD-based games: BJL and JagFree CD. BJL is a
hobby protocol for downloading Jaguar games to RAM, and is a
cost-effective alternative for developing new games. JagFree CD allows
new CD games to be published and played easily on any consumer Jaguar CD
unit.
At press time, Carl revealed plans to bundle a CD game with P:SE. Carl
commented, "I want every Jaguar fan who purchases P:SE to know that the
JagFree CD feature is present and works correctly with properly produced
Jaguar CDs. Thus, I've been able to work out a deal to include the demo
version of Native on CD with P:SE. While only a one level demo, Native
is an impressive start to a game I know many Jaguar fans are anxious to
see in action." Carl indicated other CD games were also in the works and
would be available in the near future.
When asked if there is anything else fans can look forward to in the two
new games, Carl responded, "There is a special treat waiting for players
who finish these games. All I'll say is you'll definitely want to reach
the end on both of them."
If you would like to chat with Carl Forhan and other Atari fans about
these exciting developments, be sure to drop by The Atari Times'
