I have the sega saturn emulator giri giri the full version anybody
who wants it just post and help me with a problem I cannot run this
on my laptop cause it says CD drive invalid what's the problem anyone
knows.
I have decided to use the site as a proving ground for a new message
board im working on, partly because it has (will have) a feature that
will make submissions a lot easier - the ability to create an image
gallery to accompany any post.
The idea is that unlike my existing board which is designed as
minimalist (ie doesnt need a recent browser or a high resolution, in
theory would even work on the Dreamcast, PS2 or X-Box browsers) I will
implement whatever I feel is necessary while still keeping the code
itself reasonably small.
To see what I mean simply have a look for yourself
http://ssftribute.emuunlim.com/bbs/ and if you want to post simply
login as user Anonymous without any password (there is no signup
ability yet, it IS only 2 days old).
Any bugs please dont report them yet as this is such an early version.
I would appreciate it however if you commented on how it looks and
feels. I dont want it to be like all the other boards as most seem to
have too many features but if theres something important missing I
will see if its logical to implement it.
The possibility is that this may be the start of a user database that
spans the whole site, allowing me to give certain people powers over
updating the site so that it doesnt fade away into the past when I
dont have time to update.

Yeah im really really sorry to everyone who sent contributions for
the site over the past 6-12 months as I have been SOOO busy, lost the
contents of one hard drive, lost lots of e-mail and then generally
been REALLY busy with other things since that anything to do with my
site has been really neglected. Had there been a new version of SSF
then maybe I would have been pulled back to working on it but as far
as I know that hasnt happened and im still really busy trying to get
my CSD Clubs service functional enough to launch into Beta status
once I get ADSL and a nice web space package.
So, if you want to get in contact with me and be SURE that I see it
then send me a clubmail over at CSD Clubs as I check that daily and
it doesnt get anywhere near as clogged as my e-mail has been doing
lately. The details you need can be found at
http://csdprojects.co.uk/clubs/club.php?club=Sega+Saturn+Emulation
(be sure to copy/paste the whole URL as Yahoo seems to keep splitting
it and not linking correctly, yet another reason im working on CSD
Clubs as a replacement).
Again I apologise to anyone who I have been ignoring, I DO have a
directory full of screenshots waiting to be sorted but I had hoped I
would have the time to sort out a new PHP based image gallery system
for the site before I had to do that but my CSD Clubs work (which at
the moment is my only chance at getting some cash even if I only were
to break even on my site costs and thats even with free web hosting)
but it looks like that isnt going to happen soon.

That's what I said since times, your europe rom is originally the
U.S. Rom, I hope to get the europe bios sometimes (1.01a).
If someone search for the bios's or ssf-compatibility-tests:

please read my last e-mail, look below, I hope you answer me this

The europe.rom link should work again now, japan will be back once I
figure when on earth I left it. ;-)
Sorry for not fixing them earlier, I knew there was something I needed
to fix the server for but I couldnt remember.
The europe.rom can found found here
ftp://roper.2y.net/pub/ssf/roms/europe.zip
I don't know whether I am allowed to ask this, but where can I get
the BIOS files from?
The links on the SSFTribute site don't work and I can't find them
anywhere else.
I don't know if this is frowned upon here, or if anyone even uses
Direct Connect, but I run a hub there dedicated to sega stuff. The
official hub for Sega Xtreme actually. If anyone is interested you
can come out and chat about emulation or look for isos and whatnot.
Visit me at classicsega.dns2go.com. Hope to see some of you there!
I found the old SSF Message board again :)
Check out here:

To Alex Atkin:
Please link me at your "Saturn Emulation Sites:" section:
www.geocities.com/myersxxx
logo: www.geocities.com/myersxxx/myers.jpg
You are also linked at my site since a long time, I hope you do the
same for me :)
Please change the link to my "logo" at your SSF Compatibility
sections (i.e: Panzer Dragoon2, MK2 and the others) :
http://www.geocities.com/myersxxx/logossf.gif
At your "Site Contributors", the old Lunarpages link is dead, they
kicked me after 1 week, because of emulation related things...
This all means: I am still living at Geocities, and will live there
in future... (New SSF screenshots are soon at my site, be prepared:)
I checked that "http://www5.airnet.ne.jp/ changed to:
http://www.airnet.ne.jp/
Thats probably why Shima's site is down, I think he will let us know
his new URL soon. (I hope :-o

The BIOS doesnt determine the region code - the region is set by the
emulator.
In actual fact the BIOS is the same for every country apart from the
NTSC/PAL differences which are more or less irrelevant on an emulator
(for now at least).
Both the BIOS files available are actually US BIOS images as far as I
know, either that or all emulators are running in NTSC for some other
reason. The only reason I really noticed is because some European
disks (the ones that were optimised properly for PAL) have the bottom
missing on the screen.
So, check the documentation for the emulator to change the region code
- any BIOS should theoretically play ANY region disk.
Alex.
Would anybody here be willing to give me the US BIOS? I got all of
them except this one. And I only have US CD's, so I can't play them
on an emulator without the US BIOS. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to
ask for this. If anybody has it, please e-mail it to:
EDeVinny@...
Thanks.
Wel it had to happen sooner or later, it seems we have been converted
to groups and im not pleased about it in the least. :-(
My advise would be to use the message board as much as possible as its
much easier to maintain. I really dislike the security issues
involved with being able to post via e-mail so dont be suprised if the
whole group gets deleted if anyone acts irresponsibly.
Check out the new message boards for the SSF
Tribute site. I know they arnt perfect but if everyone
lets me know what needs improving then they can be
eventually.<br><br>Also as I now have finally got MySQL access I will be
updating the compatibility list to the MySQL version which
will make updates much easier and will FINALLY allow
me to assign trusted sources to automatically add
their own updates straight to the list.
I wouldnt assume Shima is the only one to pull
this off. Last I heard from the author of Giri Giri he
said to me that it might be a while until the next
update but "IT WILL BE A BIG ONE" including NiGHTS
running with bilinear filtering.<br>How fast I dunno but
it sounded promising and I just hope that his lack
of updates is because he is in deep coding not too
busy to do anything.<br><br>I really want to get some
ISOs, for one thing I stood on my Sonic 3D disk and
although I managed to extract most of the disk from the
severely cracked CD I didnt get the track order so I have
no idea how they need burning back onto a disk. This
is mainly because a lot of the audio tracks were
broken beyond repair and although I have them ripped in
MP3 without knowing their order on the disk its no
use.<br><br>Additionally I have been waiting for update for site for 3
months now but it seems the host of emuunlim.com are
REALLY REALLY slow and STILL havent got my MySQL access
working which is what im waiting for.
If anybody out there can help with finding
ThunderForce V, please help me. I won Working Designs
ThunderForce V contest and I finally got to purchase it for
the Saturn. Recently it was stolen. This game is
special to me, I really need help.
Hello to all Saturn and SSF Fans out
there!<br><br>Shima has not updated his site/emulator till yet.<br>I
do not want to see the dead of this great emulator.
I think we have to encourage him.<br>We also have
to work! I start to update my compatibility section
with the new 0.06r2 content.<br><br>On my site at the
saturn files section, there is the e-mail adress of
W.Wallace (Owner of the biggest Saturn ISO's, I think he
got all ISO's!!)<br>To get new games for testing with
SSF, then ask him for FTP access. Then we can complete
our compatibility-testing sections.<br><br>We need
Shima! Probably he is the only guy who is able to
emulate the Saturn. <br><br>I only say this, becaus I do
not want to be 70 years old to see the Saturn
emulated...huh...<br><br>greetings,<br>myersxxx<br>www.geocities.com/myersxxx<br\
><br>(ps: In 0.06r2, most of the 3D-Surface-graphics are
emulated, e.g.: Sonic Jam (S.World, Contra,...)
Back when the Yahoo message board was on the SSF
site both our sites were posted a few times (though I
seem to be the only person posting mine ;-) so maybe
Shima did see them but it does seem to me that he
doesnt do much on the Internet, I dont know why his site
just gives that feeling.<br>I guess its because it
looks so simple and rushed - like he doesnt have the
time to mess around giving us details of whats going
on.<br><br>Someone did e-mail me saying he would translate on our
behalf - not sure if I can find the e-mail now but the
guy is probably a member of the club
(shrugs).<br><br>Its a good thing the author of Giri Giri understands
English though oddly when I mailed him recently he seemed
to be writing worse English than back when I first
contacted him about Giri Giri - when he first switched to
using Direct 3D in the Debug version.
Erm.....we're the only saturn emulation sites
there are :)<br><br>I don't think Shima speaks much
english though does he, it would be nice though. I doubt
he knows that these sites even exist as well.
It doesn't say anything about it on the site, it
just seems to say that there have been bug fixes which
may may the emulation slightly slower which is in the
readme with the file.<br><br>In the diary screen the
first paragraph is about another of his projects and
the second just talks about a few technical bits, but
doesn't actually say why it won't work.<br><br>But yeah,
I look forward to the next Giri Giri greatly.
Mmmmmmmmm NiGHTS. What interested me too was the picture
which said 25 fps quite some time ago. I doubt it will
be that fast but it'll still be cool to see NiGHTS
running whatever happens.
Im glad its not just me.<br><br>The site does say
something about changes but I dont understand exactly what
as the usual auto-translation is too bad to make out
what Shima means.<br>This is quite dissapointing as we
had come to expect SSF to work without too much of a
hitch - this is the first version to not run properly
in a long time now.<br><br>Ah well never mind - im
sure Shima will release another its just WHEN thats
the issue. In the mean time im more anxious about
Giri Giri as I have been talking to the author and big
things are coming in the next version.
I can't get it to work either.<br><br>It says
nothing in the readme about any changes either. I've
tried the old ini with the new version but it doesn't
work.<br><br>I would say that it can't read the bios file. (I'm
not sure) but i've tried naming it a variety of
different things without any look.<br><br>I've not actually
seen anyone else write about this problem, so I
thought it may just be me. I'm sure whether the update is
just wrong, or if Shima just forgot to include new
instructions on how to get it working.
Has anyone got the latest SSF release to
work?<br><br>I have never had problems running SSF but now this
one just wont work, it tells me it has a problem
loading a file and then dies.<br>I tried deleting the
ssf.inin and it then failed to create a new one properly.
:-/
Im working on a full database for compatiblity
information to make submitting details easier and stop the
lost info that has happened with me getting so much
e-mail.<br><br>For a preview look here
<a href=http://roper.2y.net/cgi-bin/ssfshowlist.cgi?emulator=ssf
target=new>http://roper.2y.net/cgi-bin/ssfshowlist.cgi?emulator=ssf</a> and also
the preview submission interface here
<a href=http://ssftribute.emuunlim.com/submit.html
target=new>http://ssftribute.emuunlim.com/submit.html</a> ,which also gives you
an option after submitting
information to return to the preview compatibility list of
your choice.<br><br>Feel free to enter compatiblity
information to test the script but remember it isnt being
saved in the database yet, its just a preview version
with lots more to come.<br><br>Tomorrow I may try to
get it submitting directly to the preview database so
we can see how stable it is and if anyone can crash
it. Theres little error checking right now so I would
have to sort that before allowing any file write
access as if I just turned that on it would corrupt the
database instantly ;-).<br><br>Any suggestions,
compliments (these are my first two perl scripts so im pretty
proud actually) and of course compatiblity submissions
are very welcome to the normal e-mail addy
alexatkin@... .
Yes its true - Giri Giri is now running NiGHTS
<a href=http://girigiri.netjunkiez.org/ss_nights.html
target=new>http://girigiri.netjunkiez.org/ss_nights.html</a> and as if that
wasnt enough the author has also
started work on coding the sound emulation - woo hoo. Not
ONLY these two shockers but he has also been working
on speeding up the CPU core with dynamic
recompilation so the next release of Giri Giri should be VERY
different indeed.<br><br>There may be more but its hard to
make out whats being said with the poor realtime
Japanese to English translation so if anyone here can
translate properly then please PLEASE do.<br><br>This is
fantastic timing as the SSF Tribute site is making a major
transition soon into the world of easier submissions for not
only SSF but Giri Giri too. See the seperate message
about this.
Surely the PCM sound is most important ;-) but indeed it isnt too bad on my
friends 1.2Ghz Athlon though oddly it didnt seem to be anywhere near as fast as
you say even though he has DDR RAM too.
