Back when the Yahoo message board was on the SSF
site both our sites were posted a few times (though I
seem to be the only person posting mine ;-) so maybe
Shima did see them but it does seem to me that he
doesnt do much on the Internet, I dont know why his site
just gives that feeling.<br>I guess its because it
looks so simple and rushed - like he doesnt have the
time to mess around giving us details of whats going
on.<br><br>Someone did e-mail me saying he would translate on our
behalf - not sure if I can find the e-mail now but the
guy is probably a member of the club
(shrugs).<br><br>Its a good thing the author of Giri Giri understands
English though oddly when I mailed him recently he seemed
to be writing worse English than back when I first
contacted him about Giri Giri - when he first switched to
using Direct 3D in the Debug version.
Erm.....we're the only saturn emulation sites
there are :)<br><br>I don't think Shima speaks much
english though does he, it would be nice though. I doubt
he knows that these sites even exist as well.
It doesn't say anything about it on the site, it
just seems to say that there have been bug fixes which
may may the emulation slightly slower which is in the
readme with the file.<br><br>In the diary screen the
first paragraph is about another of his projects and
the second just talks about a few technical bits, but
doesn't actually say why it won't work.<br><br>But yeah,
I look forward to the next Giri Giri greatly.
Mmmmmmmmm NiGHTS. What interested me too was the picture
which said 25 fps quite some time ago. I doubt it will
be that fast but it'll still be cool to see NiGHTS
running whatever happens.
Im glad its not just me.<br><br>The site does say
something about changes but I dont understand exactly what
as the usual auto-translation is too bad to make out
what Shima means.<br>This is quite dissapointing as we
had come to expect SSF to work without too much of a
hitch - this is the first version to not run properly
in a long time now.<br><br>Ah well never mind - im
sure Shima will release another its just WHEN thats
the issue. In the mean time im more anxious about
Giri Giri as I have been talking to the author and big
things are coming in the next version.
I can't get it to work either.<br><br>It says
nothing in the readme about any changes either. I've
tried the old ini with the new version but it doesn't
work.<br><br>I would say that it can't read the bios file. (I'm
not sure) but i've tried naming it a variety of
different things without any look.<br><br>I've not actually
seen anyone else write about this problem, so I
thought it may just be me. I'm sure whether the update is
just wrong, or if Shima just forgot to include new
instructions on how to get it working.
Has anyone got the latest SSF release to
work?<br><br>I have never had problems running SSF but now this
one just wont work, it tells me it has a problem
loading a file and then dies.<br>I tried deleting the
ssf.inin and it then failed to create a new one properly.
:-/
Im working on a full database for compatiblity
information to make submitting details easier and stop the
lost info that has happened with me getting so much
e-mail.<br><br>For a preview look here
<a href=http://roper.2y.net/cgi-bin/ssfshowlist.cgi?emulator=ssf
target=new>http://roper.2y.net/cgi-bin/ssfshowlist.cgi?emulator=ssf</a> and also
the preview submission interface here
<a href=http://ssftribute.emuunlim.com/submit.html
target=new>http://ssftribute.emuunlim.com/submit.html</a> ,which also gives you
an option after submitting
information to return to the preview compatibility list of
your choice.<br><br>Feel free to enter compatiblity
information to test the script but remember it isnt being
saved in the database yet, its just a preview version
with lots more to come.<br><br>Tomorrow I may try to
get it submitting directly to the preview database so
we can see how stable it is and if anyone can crash
it. Theres little error checking right now so I would
have to sort that before allowing any file write
access as if I just turned that on it would corrupt the
database instantly ;-).<br><br>Any suggestions,
compliments (these are my first two perl scripts so im pretty
proud actually) and of course compatiblity submissions
are very welcome to the normal e-mail addy
alexatkin@... .
Yes its true - Giri Giri is now running NiGHTS
<a href=http://girigiri.netjunkiez.org/ss_nights.html
target=new>http://girigiri.netjunkiez.org/ss_nights.html</a> and as if that
wasnt enough the author has also
started work on coding the sound emulation - woo hoo. Not
ONLY these two shockers but he has also been working
on speeding up the CPU core with dynamic
recompilation so the next release of Giri Giri should be VERY
different indeed.<br><br>There may be more but its hard to
make out whats being said with the poor realtime
Japanese to English translation so if anyone here can
translate properly then please PLEASE do.<br><br>This is
fantastic timing as the SSF Tribute site is making a major
transition soon into the world of easier submissions for not
only SSF but Giri Giri too. See the seperate message
about this.
Surely the PCM sound is most important ;-) but indeed it isnt too bad on my
friends 1.2Ghz Athlon though oddly it didnt seem to be anywhere near as fast as
you say even though he has DDR RAM too.
For anyone who is wondering what the future of
the site might hold (even if SSF doesnt get a new
release) then have a look
<a href=http://ssftribute.emuunlim.com/submit.html
target=new>http://ssftribute.emuunlim.com/submit.html</a> .<br><br>Feel free to
crash test the script - I
think so fa r its working properly but its impossible
to know for sure. Bear in mind its so early that
theres little error detection in place and the missing
field error pages arnt properly designed as you will
see if you miss out the game title or e-mail
address.<br><br>I am working on converting the compatibility list
into a database which will then allow much easier
browsing, better compatibility with large fonts displays
(which also means games consoles and WebTV devices) but
whats more much easier to submit information and the
ability eventually for me to have registered list
maintainers who can add entries to the database and modify
existing ones.<br><br>At least for now theres just the
preview form and script for dealing with submitting
information but I only started this yesterday so its pretty
good progress. The database might be tricky so dont
expect the site to change soon but by all means make
suggestions to how you want the site to work.<br>Submitting
the snapshots will remain an e-mail only thing but as
all entries will need verification before being added
anyway (forms make it easy for people to jokingly add
stuff in the hope that it screws up the site) it
shouldnt be a problem. The real advantage is how felxible
the compatiblity list output itself will be and also
that I will never need to worry about losing someones
submission e-mail again. ;-)<br><br>You can get to the
preview form from the main page
<a href=http://ssftribute.emuunlim.com/
target=new>http://ssftribute.emuunlim.com/</a> or the submit info page. <br>If
you think
anything is missing thats needed on the form or any other
suggestions then feel free to e-mail me
alexatkin@... (a details field WILL be added so that the game
detail page can be made realtime so theres no need to
suggest that).
Yes, I bought an AMD 1,4 GHZ Processor!<br>I
tested out the new SSF and found out that I get 30 fps
at the main menu (the menu with the green cubes) and
an average fps count of 26 at the spaceship
screensaver!<br><br>Unbelievable, but it's real!<br><br>If Shima gets the FM
sound
working, then we have great emulator!
Yes thats right, 36 more games have just been
added to the compatibility list with screenshots of the
working ones coming soon.
<br><a href=http://ssftribute.emuunlim.com/
target=new>http://ssftribute.emuunlim.com/</a> <br>Thanks go to Dstln the latest
compatibility
tester who submitted the info.
You arnt going to have any luck with such a slow
PC - it SHOULD run but its likely to take half an
hour just to run the intro.<br><br>Currently no
emulator is faster than around half speed on the fastest
PC available at the moment.<br><br>Better to stick
with the real thing for now, we are only using the
emulators because we are curious of how they are
progressing and anxiously awaiting each small speed increase.
Yeah we are a bunch a loonies probably.
2 things:<br><br>i do have a lot (well, 78) of
saturn games, and am looking for people to trade
with....i have an extra original copy of Enemy Zero, as
well as a lot of backups. email me privately at
A_Murder_of_Crows@... if you would like to trade :)<br><br>the other
thing is that i have no earthly idea how to get the
emulator that actually plays running....though i think my
comp is *WAY* too underpowered for it....the last time
i tried it all i got was illegal operation
errors.... anyone know how to make it work on a P1
233?<br><br>thanx all<br><br>k
Have you had any luck finding any
games?<br>Personally I can never find any Saturn games to download at
all except from myersxxx site (havent been there in
ages).<br><br>Also, were you planning to play these on the Saturn
itself or an emulator?<br>Despite Saturn Emulation
making progress it STILL isnt quite playable yet. You
could however look for the PC version of Panzer Dragoon
as I saw it in Electronic Boutique going really
cheap a while back - or just look online if you are
good at finding stuff like that (im not).
If anyone here sent me compatibility information
that isnt already on the site could you contact
me.<br>I have had a lot on my mind recently and anything
not already on the site is either lost or just in
limbo waiting for someone to tell me who sent it and
what the status of the games was.<br><br>Sorry for
messing up AGAIN - now you see why I suggested posting
the information to the message board instead as its
much more sorted than my e-mail will ever be
especially with all the spam I receive.
Whats uppers!! well i loved some of the great
saturn games like panzer dragon. Do you guys know where
I can get this rom? but my main true love is the
Macross game "Macross: Do you remember love?" I have
looked forr weeks for this rom and its a true stumper
for me. Can anyone help?<br>Thanks!<br><br>TheRoot
last week, I have bought an 1,3 GHZ AMD Athlon-C
Processor!! together with an Asus A7M266 DDR Board!<br><br>I
have tested out all emulators.<br>-Vegas/Retrodrive
emulators is running at FULL speed, which means: perfect
speed, perfect sound!!<br><br>-SSF is running quite
good! This means a huge speed boost, I think about
10-15 fps, yeah<br><br>-Mame32b14: games like street
fighter the movie, mk2, mk (t-unit), UMK 3 are running
now with FULL speed, great!!!<br><br>ZSNES and Gens
are not better than with an AMD/500 CPU.<br><br>Gens
is already running perfect for me, even with a 400
MHZ CPU.<br><br>ZSNES is not programmed fast enough,
even with an 30 GHZ Processor, ZSNES will not go
better!<br><br>-Giri Giri is also running much better with an 1,3 GHZ!
12-17 fps!<br><br>Oh, and check out AGES with an 1,3
GHZ, you will be surprised.<br><br>By the way, my
website (www.geocities.com/myersxxx) is not down because
some routines! <br>They shutting me down because I had
a second account. I deleted the second account and
the mirror, but they are do not bring me back,
asses.<br><br>myersxxx
Dont panic - its probably just a routine screwup
of Geocities that happens periodically.<br><br>My
first site was on Geocities before Yahoo took them over
and its still running since around 1996.<br><br>Every
so often Geocities reports sites arnt there when
they really are - its just some server glitch that
clears itself up after a while. Being Yahoo however it
can sometimes last literally weeks.
:-(<br><br>Geocities is unlikely to go being part of Yahoo which is
probably the largest idependant Internet resource (if its
even independant, I dont know).<br>If Geocities ever
went then it would be a sign that all free providers
were going so I wouldnt wish that to happen at all.
I think all is going down here!<br><br>Where is
the official SSF site
(www.geocities.com/lackfighters/)?????<br>I think these dammed geocities people
put him
down.<br><br>Then, my site (www.geocities.com/myersxxx) was closed
by geocities, I wrote them huge letters, then they
brought my site back. Later they closed my site again,
and so on, and so on.<br>I'll not write to geocities
anymore. This means, my site is closed forever.<br>The
Geocities asses are worst people I met.<br>I hope someone
will bomb them out of the net.<br><br>Har,har, Now I
think that geocities will take me out of this club.
This let me cold! They have destroyed my hobby, my
webpage-building-hobby.<br>Do you hear me Geocities?? I want to see Geocities
in the deepest shithole!! AARRGGH!!!
*Takes a bow and calmly holds up a rather large
banner that states: "VIVA ICECREAM!"*<br><br><br>"Saturn
games, Saturn games, oh where are those Saturn
gaaaaaaames.. woh,woh..."<br><br>They are somewhat of a rarity
in these parts :(<br><br>-Ad!
Shima? Sounds like someone/thing that the masses
would worship. God of Death? Hey! Its no suggestion...
stay in your homes... do not abandon your current
religion.<br><br>*Attempts to penetrate this Shima Cult and gets into heaps
of zany adventures along the way*<br><br>Expect the
novel to be released sometime in the upcoming months.
An anime series will be out early next year

Because he loves us really, and he sees there ARE
people who bow down and worship his emulator, rather
than just people who do nothing but complain about
everything.<br><br>You can't beat a nice surprise like that release
though.:)
Yes, Shima (for reasons unknown) as decided to
release SSF Alpha 0.04 r5 to the public.<br>Download it
from the official site or
<a href=http://ssftribute.emuunlim.com/
target=new>http://ssftribute.emuunlim.com/</a><br><br>The URLs can also be found
in the links sections of
the club.
"Once upon a time there was a console called the
Sega Saturn(TM)". May God bless it's twin (hard to
develop for) CPU heart :)<br><br>Ur run of the mill low
intelligence empowered consumer monkey would have flocked to
the said mighty system if only the knuckleheads at
Sega's marketing department had invested in sparkly
little trinkets (much like Sony did), to lure the
monkeys (who get easily attracted by the bright/ pretty
colours) over to planet Saturn. Because frankly.. their
intelligence (or lack thereof) is a feature that places them
into the 'Not Worthy To Harness The Awesome Power That
Is The Saturn' category of 'gamers' (as much as i
hate that word that automatically brands anyone who
likes to play v.games from time to time.. and lets face
it.. everyone does). My conclusion? Lack of sales
states that the gaming industry is choc full of
idiosoes.<br><br>As for Street Fighter.. im not keen on the
originals. Its the Alpha series i pursue :)<br><br>-Ad!
