"Once upon a time there was a console called the
Sega Saturn(TM)". May God bless it's twin (hard to
develop for) CPU heart :)<br><br>Ur run of the mill low
intelligence empowered consumer monkey would have flocked to
the said mighty system if only the knuckleheads at
Sega's marketing department had invested in sparkly
little trinkets (much like Sony did), to lure the
monkeys (who get easily attracted by the bright/ pretty
colours) over to planet Saturn. Because frankly.. their
intelligence (or lack thereof) is a feature that places them
into the 'Not Worthy To Harness The Awesome Power That
Is The Saturn' category of 'gamers' (as much as i
hate that word that automatically brands anyone who
likes to play v.games from time to time.. and lets face
it.. everyone does). My conclusion? Lack of sales
states that the gaming industry is choc full of
idiosoes.<br><br>As for Street Fighter.. im not keen on the
originals. Its the Alpha series i pursue :)<br><br>-Ad!
Once upon a time there was a console called the
Sega Saturn(TM) and it was so good that everyone
didn't notice how good it was and bought a playstation
instead. The fools. :)<br><br>Not quite in the same league
as the resident evil story but I also thought it had
to be told. :)<br><br>I'm not overly keen on
beat-em-ups apart from the virtua fighter series. Street
fighters alright for a quick play although it's getting a
bit stupid with it having about 50 sequels
now.<br><br>Ya can't beat NiGHTS.
Ullo!<br><br>To be honest, ive never really come
into contact with the realm that is Resident Evil.. i
tried it a few times at friend's places etc.. but
something always came up so i was left at hello so to speak
lol<br><br>Hell! A friend even told me about his adventures in RE
2 like 4 years ago during english class in
highschool and i was like "hmm.. interesting!". So gradually
as i came to know more and more about it i got more
curious and blamo! It sucked me in.<br><br>The first
chance i really got to play an RE game was Survivor,
which i got so good at, i was better at it than my
friend who owned it! I got to the last boss but lost the
battle to his final form :(<br><br>Alot of people said
it wasnt true Resident Evil, but to the RE craving,
wide eyed moi at the time, i took it all in and
recognised the game's 'formula'. U know.. tiny little things
that give the game its individuality from others.
<br><br>So one time a friend and i came across his brother
playing RE: Nemesis and we were bored so we gathered
round and helped guide him through his quest. My hunger
for RE was awakened..<br><br>So while looking for
part three, all i could find was 2, so i snapped that
up for PC a month or so back and i must say it was a
worthy purchase.<br><br>Why did i tell u all this? Its a
story i felt u had to know lol<br><br>Are u into
fighting games? I love the works of Capcom and SNK.
Brilliant!<br><br><br><br>My keyboard is protesting so thats enuf from me
;)<br>-Ad!
:)<br><br>Yeah same here, saturn and mega drive.<br><br>My mate used to have
resident evil, but I think he sold it. I've never liked the series to be
honest.
Indeed there is :)<br><br>I guess thats the price
u must pay when a website u own kicks some serious
booty.<br><br>Do you still have any Sega consoles of old? Ive
still got my dusty old Mega Drive + my never dusty,
always trusty Saturn!<br><br>Im always on the lookout
for games to pick up since they are VERY hard to find
over here.<br><br>Next target: Resident
Evil!<br><br><br>-Ad!
Hmmm, ive placed all the data into this
correlation conversion module ive stolen from a military
base. Its printing out the result of what all this
could mean now. I hope its not too complex for us all
to understand.<br><br>Ah, done! It
reads:<br><br>"Alex server is gooooood
frnied."<br><br>I...see....<br><br>All ive gotta say here is, boy is that
country in
trouble!<br><br>-Ad!
The reason im pushing the message board so much
is indeed because Yahoo is totally useless.<br>The
amusing thing too is that often my friend has problems
accessing the Internet yet my server on the very same
connection always seems to be available during these
problems. :-)
It's lucky that the message board isn't Yahoo!,
cause they never seem to be particularly reliable
.<br><br>Yep Mega certainly is better.....hey wow there's a
link to my site on your club. Cool. I find new links
to my site every day. :)<br><br>Ahhhhhhhhhh.....I
love it.
Hullo there fabled founder! Although there is a
high chance of your message board kicking the
proverbial bucket, Yahoo should not be trusted any more than
the distance as to one can hurl a fridge in an
intoxicated state. They killed a club that some collegues and
i had put alot of work and effort into for no
apparent reason whatsoever. So in the words of Jimmy
Morrison, "The end is always near" ... when it comes to a
Yahoo Club. Thus the only club i regulate now is
Emulation .. to keep the spirit going! Oh and this
fabtabulous establishment now exists in its Links section. To
open a stranger's eyes up to the realm of the Saturn
resembles helping 15 old ladies cross a busy
street.<br><br>Ill pay ur board a visit when i nab the time, for now
its beddy byes for moi.<br><br><br>Wavies<br>-Ad!
Definately! Saturn is indeed supreme! I liked the
Mega Drive good n well, but i found that the Master
System was a real gem. I suppose it had something to do
with my younger, much more impressionable age at the
time, but i still fire up all those roms of old on Meka
and get shivers of excitement, reminiscing again.
World Cup Italia '90 hooowahhhhh!!!!<br><br>The Sonic &
Knuckles idea was GREAT! It really opened up alot of
doors. Sonic was going very strongly back then, and i
enjoyed the storyline in its day too. U could say it was
fresh in that half a day old bread way.<br><br>*Looks
across as a technician hands him a sheet of paper* NEWS
JUST IN! Ive managed to pick up a second hand copy of
Street Fighter Alpha 2 .. in PAL! (even!!!), thanks to a
sharp eyed friend scooping it up. Oh kalloo
kalay!<br><br>Why do i sound so surprised when this has already
happened to me? Keeping with the news room tradition
ofcourse!<br><br>Saturn games are oh so hard to find in oztraylia!
*Sigh*. I thought id never get my hands on any SF Alpha
games. They are el supremo! And i love the lil bonus art
gallery features Capcom cram into their
products!<br><br>Anywhowho, i too have been dwelling to closely to Americans
and their 'Genesis' wording. In my ever so humble
opinion, Mega Drive sounds so much better! MegaCD -
SegaCD... *Thinks for a second*<br><br>*Votes
Mega!*<br><br><br>Toodles<br>-Ad!
As if in reply to the cries for an edit post
feature I have a Saturn Emulation Message Board online
now.<br>I will be keeping the club of course because the
message board is hosted on cable modem and if the ISP get
upset it could be taken offline though im hoping it
doesnt happen.<br><br>In the meantime though feel free
to check out the message board which is a damn site
nicer than this club for holding
conversations.<br><br><a

Nothing can come close to the might of the saturn
although the genesis was good for it's time.<br><br>The
Sonic & Knuckles idea was a great one where you could
plug in old sonic games and play them differently,
<br>especially when hooking it up to Sonic 1! :)<br><br>Oh by
the way you seem nearly as mad as me! That's always
good. :)
Err... "making software" even. Damn the lack of an Edit Post

shined back in its time, but the Capcom / SNK games on
the Saturn... hoooooweeeee! Makes me wanna beg for
more lol It could do 2d SO WELL!!!<br><br>Its a pity
Sega lack the necessary marketing skill to have taken
the system any further outside its native homeland.
It had so much damn potential! Well.. atleast Yuji
and co are doing what they do best and thats make
software...<br><br><br>-Ad!
(signing autograph)"Wahay i'm famous......er sort of." :)<br><br>Yep, certainly
is great to see nice shiny new clubs dedicated to the best console in the

Its great to see an emulator devoted to a system
that had so much unfulfilled potential (not including
in Japan), and better still.. a club sprouting in
its name!<br><br>I was wondering if Emulation could
add this proud club to its Links section to point
lost souls in the right direction?<br><br>Congrats on
the noice club too, i find its... OH.. MY..GOD! Is
that none other than Almighty Clint from Almighty
Saturn X i see???<br><br>*Runs over*<br>Can i have your
autograph?!?!<br><br>Till next time..Party on dudes!!! ;)<br>-Ad!
Still, the Playstation 2 is hard to write games
on but seeing as the Playstation did so well Sony
can't lose because the publishers think its gold
dust.<br>Personally im pretty fed up with the games developers (and
the gullible public) who have ditched the Dreamcast
seeing as the games it DOES have are some of the best I
have ever played. Im certainly pleased with it - I
mean now we might even end up playing Saturn games on
it. So a failed console emulated by a failed console
- you gotta laugh at that really.<br>Im my opinion
the Dreamcast hasnt failed yet but Sega Japan seem to
think otherwise.<br><br>Well this is a Saturn Emulation
group so I won't go on about current console wars but I
don't think Sega have helped the situation (as usual)
with low advertising and the aweful Smash Pack thats
the worst Genesis emulator ever written.
I completely agree. Their are a lot of crappy PS
games out their (65%+) However there are some pretty
hot titles. In my observations when the two systems
(Saturn PS) were first released the games looked almost
identical. But as the years went by the quality of PS's
games step up to the next level. And the Saturn games
remained almost the same. The only games that really
showed improvement were those produced by Sega
themselves. This may be due to the fact that it was so hard
to develop games for Saturn and many publishers
became uninterested. I also herd that Sega didn't
respect their 2nd and 3rd party support. That's why the
lost the support of publishers such as Working Design.
Though you have to also think that the press and
games producers can also determine which system is most
popular.<br>It seems that the Saturn just didnt have good enough
games on release (though personally I found Panzer
Dragoon the best game at the time) compared to the
Playstation.<br>Then again my personal opinion is most people are
insane as the most popular Playstation games are a load
of crap in my opinion.
Hey everyone, I just heard over at Boob! (the
Dreamcast developments site) that Saturncast is running
NiGHTS at a fair speed.<br><br>Here is what they had to
say:<br>---------------<br>Saturn-cast, a Sega Saturn emulator for the Sega
dreamcast,
seems to be making great progress and a new website has
been opened. <br>The emulator is already apparatently
playing Nights at good speed. <br>Although some may think
this highly unlikely since pc saturn emus only run at
about 4fps on p3-800, since the dreamcast uses an Sh4
cpu, the saturn sh2 cpu takes little emulation work,
since the sh4 can run native sh2
code!<br>---------------<br><br>I don't fully agree with what is said there as
despite the CPU being an easy task to emulate theres
still the many custom chips to emulate which are NOT so
easy so we are yet to see if its possible to emulate
100% accurately without frameskip.<br>Still, if it IS
possible then it makes you wonder why Sega didnt bother
themselves.<br><br>Saturncast -
<a href=http://saturncast.tripod.com/saturncast/index.html

Hello everyone, <br><br>I just joined this club
today (03/05/2001) and i want to say that this club is
pretty good considing it's based on Sega Saturn
Emulation .. (i thought i was the only one still interested
in the system) ... :} <br><br>Anyway i wanted to
coment about programming for the Sega Saturn ... I do
belived that programming for the Sega Saturn is indeed
very complex due to the many processors. That might
have been the down fall of the Saturn then again who
knows? In your reply (message #7 Myersxxx) you said the
system which had more advertisement had more emulation
.. Saturn had lots of ads (remember the 'SEGA
SCREAM' ads) the reason why i got my Saturn was because
their ads were better and the were giving out three
games. Compared to PSX which only came with a demo disk
for the same price. But if you trying to say that
programers are only interested in programming in the more
popular / successful systems i completely agree.
Giri Giri Transation, NEW!<br><br>It determined
that the shima person makes SSF project secret, so is.
The SSF at the beginning was developed with the
DOS+Glide, after that the to assembler converted most
sources, was announced in Windows edition. The point where
the SSF should feature is to be the Sega Saturn
emulator where that can start the game from the worldwide
only and the CD. Windows edition announcement at that
time (2000/09), I had started GiriGiri project
already, but, you were surprised in height of the degree
of completion. Especially in regard to speed "
exceeding the theoretical value which I am imaginative
much, to here he being possible?" it was the thinking
which winds tongue. As for those where I would like to
call to everyone, as for development of the Sega
Saturn emulation it means that is truly power necessary.
In regard to speed, if in the apparatus the CPU
becomes two, speed it reaches nearly time being, on the
ginger and emulator becomes half. The Sega Saturn even
in addition the MC68000, SCU, the SH1, VDP1, VDP2,
SCSP, has the tip/chip such as the SMPC, looks at just
the SH2 and inside such as the FRT, the SCI, the
DIVU, the DMAC and the WDT being to stack module, does.
This reflecting the Sega Saturn, " acceleration with
distributed processing " design philosophy, is thing, but
really, making emulating these tips/chips cooperate, that
it develops the program we assume, it means that
labor is truly it meaning that the number of steps
becomes necessary, does. Those where SSF project has
become secret are regrettable thing truly. Furthermore,
the cause of that, the fact that it is the kind of
people where value of the SSF is not recognized is more
regrettable thing. As my individual, the shima person
recovering the モチベージョン, probably to revive having
tried, it increases. You cannot taste with the normal
world in the world of programming, there is a thrill
and impression, it is the expectation which that
loves certainly and becomes the く. The programmer is
such creature. Until now it was hardship. Your
ability, respect is displayed in the result.
I have tested the new Giri Giri Debuger ver 0.6
and I must say that thus far it not much use.<br>Im
not saying thats it isnt impressive as the progress
on Giri Giri has been rocket fast compared to how
SSF was going until recently.<br><br>Some 3D is
running but all I got was a title screen with flickering
graphics and a Drive Door Open message on the screen. Not
quite what I was expecting after seeing the Daytona USA
screenshots but its probably just my PC it doesnt like.
:-/<br><br>Still, Giri Giri looks like it might catch up with SSF
faster than you would have expected - and so far it is
quite a bit faster than SSF but thats understabled as
it doesnt emulate as much yet.<br><br>I will keep my
eyes on this and will be testing any new versions I
see.
