at the group, but in compressed form.be cool if the group could host
the html files itself in the files section.i would help if someone
else wanted to help add them.

the above will take you to a functioning?? archive of the vmuhtml
testbed and even has a downloadable vmi of the testbed that works..ie
the download does..the web archive "may" support the actual use of the
testbed as it seems to have backed up everything including the cgi.

also of note

http://kefka.hypermart.net is archived in the web archive..but some
things are there and some things are not.

just look thru on dc to see what functions for you and what doesnt.

also of note is that the archive has a backed up vmi section as well
from the old dreamserv but it isnt indexed..the url was
http://kefka.hypermart.net/data if i recall correctly..once you do a
proper archive search of dreamserv..youll notice the /data directory
with the included saves.

note for dc users..the archive is a extremely useful tool to you.you
can find MANY of the now gone sites that we all used to visit and
use.some are fully functional with actual download content and some
are semi-useful with the exception of some missing pages..

a tip for you would be to hit the dcbg links section,if you hit a dead
link or missing site..use that link in the wayback machine to get what
you were looking for.most of the time the archive will have something
backed up.

for those who have xdp 3 you should have a built in wayback machine
that functions just fine for these purposes.

that in retrospect was probably my most useful contribution to xdp and
this whole scene.considering the usefulness of the wayback machine in
these days of disappearing dc sites.

the java function works fairly well if the right java applications are
used.many and i mean many of the java games work very well.

many get confused with shockwave games and java games...not their
fault but mostly the web designers faults.they "lump" java and
shockwave applications together and when you did a search on pw 3 for
"java games"..you would end up getting shockwave flash...many dc users
couldnt see if it was java or flash due to no source viewer at hand to
see any extension differences..thus believed they just didnt work.

i believe excalibur had many java games working on pw for xdp at one
time...not sure if they ended up in the final work tho.the ones we
worked on together worked failry well..with a few exceptions where
frames or popup window scripts where used in the java.

planetweb 3 was overall not what many had hoped for around here, and
thus just did not sell after initial reviews from those whom had it
and saw it in action got out there.among those where mine and plot's
reviews..dismal..to be nice about it..we had suggested many features
to planetweb that made sense...like just dumping flash support
altogether, and java as well..and focus on beefing up JS,css, cut copy
paste functions..and even pondered dumping dreamcall(which they did
any way..)to free dc memory for the things that would have made pw 3 a
real alternative to dp...planetweb just didnt listen to the ONLY
audience and trusted authority they had to rely on..this group.

we made suggestions..if implemented..would still be seeling today..and
might have resulted in even more updates.

to bad they didnt think actually turning the toy known as planetweb
browser into a real web browser was a selling point.

i cant see buying it at all.

not at anything over $9.95 a disc...it just isnt worth it.

For those that don't know, eBuddy (formaly eMessenger) has finished their Yahoo
and AIM Mobile HTML Messengers.

http://mob.ebuddy.com/ eBuddy MSN IM
http://moby.ebuddy.com/ eBuddy Yahoo IM
http://moba.ebuddy.com/ eBuddy AOL IM

The Yahoo one doesn't work 100% correct, the Auto-Update Javascript doesn't work
on any DC browser so you must manual refresh the page. Also if you ever get a
"Can not load document" Error, try again later.

I've been talking to the my friend Ken Soohoo, President/CEO of Planetweb, and
have good news for anyone still seeking the 3.0 Browser. It seams they still
have back stock of at least 900 3.0 Web Browsers!!!

Don't pay those Insain prices of $50-75+ Anymore, as you can own 3.0 for a Total
of $24.95!!! Contact KenSoohoo@... to order or you can wait untill
they get up their eBay ad. They'll take Cashier's Check or a Money Order, no
need for Credit Cards or PayPal!

For those that don't know anything about the 3.0 Browser it features:
- Limited 4.0 Flash, The ONLY DC Browser to have such.
- Limited Java ver 1.1.8, Again the ONLY DC Browser to have such!
- BBA (BroadBand Adaptor) Support! The ONLY US DC Browser to support it!

Along with returning features like IRC Chat and limited MP3 support!

Support Planetweb, they deserve it for taking the chance, with their own
money&time, to finish and get the 3.0 Browser released after Sega scapped plans
for it!

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I just picked up Heavy Metal Geomatrix from Ebay yesterday. I still have Seaman,
Headhunter and a few other games I still wanna get :) Still not started D2 yet
though... I guess I'll play that once I finish off ZElda: Windwaker (Gamecube).

i did wanna mention how im alternatively enjoying my dc versus the
homebrew scene.i now focus on finding the many titles i never
played(and there is way more than enough to keep me busy on dc for
some time to come..),looking for the rare titles that dc had that many
might have overlooked,etc..dont get me wrong..i have enjoyed much in
the homebrew community..just not the actual homebrew games..things
like the homebrew apps,players,emus,ports,etc.

the dc homebrew community is strongest in
porting,emulation,applications for dc.

they have some catching up to do in the actual gaming area.

most dc homebrew is whack...and i dont consider emulation part of

on dc.much is unfinished,never released,or just hype altogether.even
the great emu dreamsnes was left incomplete at version 0.9.8.

i wish this team well either way.if the experience of creating and

Yes, but you forget a few things:

1) Sprite (2D) based games are easier and quicker to make.

2) Creating polygon models from scratch (plus the PVR textures) would take
atleast twice as long as it does to make the 2D games.

3) Creating polygon (3D) games is much much harder and would require alot more
resources than is currently available to the homebrew scene. For example
creating and converting polygon models and/or motion data to the DC's native
format would require official devkit's which are, technically, illegal for
anyone to own other than an official software developer which paid Sega for it
and a licensing aggreement.

I'm sure there are other reasons too... besides alot of great games are 2D -
either in visuals and/or in gameplay.

I'd buy it, just like I plan to buy Beggar Prince
for Genesis. Better then no new games at least!
Plus the only reason the homebrew developers do
2D is because that's all they can really do
without a DC Development kit, any good 3D project
is too hard for most and would be very limited
without the kit.

Dear members,

The NG DevTeam have come up with a new game for the Neo Geo AES. They plan to
port it to the Dreamcast (and one other platform). I have subscribed to the DC
mailing list and will let you know when I have more info.

The game is called Last Hope and is a side/vertical-scrolling shoot'em up
featuring up to 4 layers of parrallax scrolling :) The visuals look great and I
hope they get it ported pronto.

Not that I am aware of. As far as I know it needs time to "learn" what's spam
and what isn't. It has successfully identified one email as spam (woohoo!) and
seems to automatically reject some emails (the erm... adult pills ones) that are
cross-posting.
While the amount of spam seems to have gone down the amount of Japanese spam has
gone up - hence the reason for all these emails with nonsensical characters in
them. If viewed on a Japanese compatible browser they might make sense, but are
generally useless to us.

i have not managed a group in a long time..has it improved enough to
add keywords to the spam feature yet? on pc MOST...id say 98% that the
group gets..starts with a crap load of weird characters..usually the
same ones..if they could be added to a filtering system..might be able
to get a slow down in the amount of bad posts.

but i believe MANY of these spam messages are initiated by yahoo
advertising itself.

Yahoo have been fiddling alot lately, certainly for the worse for dial-up users
- dial-up rules!

Take your time when deleting spam. It is so easy to delete the wrong email, I
know because I did it once. Luckily I still had the original email in my inbox
and was able to forward it to the group - members would have got it twice of
course, but atleast it was preserved in the archive :)

the default string for planetweb is AT&F0 that's a zero..i always got
the best speed with that string myself.

and atleast with dp(ie:dreampassport 3 +)..this string always rendered
the best speed for me as well.

Official page is now up.....
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ds/browser/index.html

The site's Q&A section reveals a few bits on what we can and cannot expect
from the browser. First, the good. The browser supports full stylus-based
controls, for scrolling and jumping between pages, and even for inputting
characters through direct handwriting or via a software keyboard. The
browser keeps track of previously entered phrases so you won't have to enter
them again.

Now for the bad. The browser won't be capable of displaying Flash and PDF,
nor will it support video and sound. While you can save bookmarks to your
favorite pages, you cannot save images or other elements of pages.

Pretty cool looking though......

Someone told the command a long time ago here, so I can't remember it
off the top of my head right now.

Finaly, that dang BBA came. I'm so glad it didn't turn out to be a box of rocks.
:P
Now if only I can find a PW 3.0 at a decent price. Heck, a CD-R of it would be
good at least to tide me over.

Yes, you can. You'll need the correct AT modem command for it. Someone told the
command a long time ago here, so I can't remember it off the top of my head
right now.
