Cool, you love the Turtles too. I still have several
eps of the original tv series on vhs ;)

Also, Totally Spies is cooll too... Jennifer Hale has
got such a great voice! For those not in the know she
also voices Vanessa in PN03 (on the Gamecube).. well
she only speaks at the end of the game!
Jennifer Hale has also done the voices in various
other videogames, including (if I recall correctly)
some of the recent Final Fantasy games.

Getting back on subject, there are some nice mpeg's to

d 700 kb) over and over and over and over and over,
but it just won't play.

there are a few reasons why all this would happen...
for one, the browsers only play one kind of mpeg f
ile, there is a note about this in the quick notes d
atabase... it has to be encoded a certain way, if t
here is any deviation from that most basic format, i
t does not work...

also, many people are not that bright and create a v
ideo file and name it mpeg, even if the file is quic
ktime, avi, real, or other format... i see people n
ame any audio file mp3 or wav, any text file html, e
tc....

> Why is it that Planetweb can play things up to 6
mb, but the DreamPassport cannot?

i would assume it has to do with the size of the med
ia player, but, i have no idea...
see, there is a limited amount of memory the softwar
e has access to (i think it is 8 megs?), so, if the
video player takes up 6 megs, that leaves only 2 meg
s left for the files...
of course, it doesn't have that much memory availabl
e, because the browser itself takes some of it, etc.
...

(and on a more tech note, i don't think the browser
gives over ALL potential memory to the player since
you can watch mpegs from the email client (so, the e
mail client is still loaded)... and on dpp watching
a vid does not require chab shutting down and such
like loading irc does (so the chab client is still l
oaded), yet i recall that dp3 DOES shut down chab to
play video files... in fact, on dp3, chab must be
shut down even to open the email client or file mana
ger, so, it seems they had some memory issues back t
hen... dpp does not do this, whatever that indicate
s...)

it could be that dp is a more memory-hungry program
than pw (would make sense, since it does so much mor
e), and that the mpeg player is larger than the pw m
p3 player, ergo, you can only play small files becau
se of the space left over...
but, that is just a barely-educated guess...

> The XDP browser, can it play MPEGs better than Dr
eampassport 3? How about DreamPassport 2?

see above... they all have the same player, they al
l have the same hardware memory...
though, i think i read once a claim that the xdp has
been modified to play larger files... i could be w
rong...

> Is there a browser than CAN play MPEGs better tha
n Dreampassport 3??

the bottom line is that this is asking a lot of such
a simple piece of software with such limited memory
...

i would expect that webtv has much better video choi
ces, since it presumably has a lot more memory, and
presumably has a realmedia player, which is used on
the web a hell of a lot more than mpeg, probably the
least used video format on the web...

I have been going around playing random MPEGs at or under 1 mb with
DreamPassport 3 (and the one on Fire Pro Wrestling D.

Some times smaller MPEGs will not play, but larger ones will (??). I'm
confused.

Sometimes I would try playing the same MPEG (whatever you call these movie
things) over and over. Sometimes it will play and sometimes it won't. (???) I'm
confused.

Sometimes i would try playing a small MPEG (around 700 kb) over and over and
over and over and over, but it just won't play.

  Am I doing anything wrong?

Why is it that Planetweb can play things up to 6 mb, but the DreamPassport
cannot?

The XDP browser, can it play MPEGs better than Dreampassport 3? How about
DreamPassport 2?

Is there a browser than CAN play MPEGs better than Dreampassport 3??

Thank you all your your time.

Thats a bit strange, seeing as Dreamkey is
based on Dreampassport and I haven't had
any problems with Yahoo! mail (either web
based or pop3 based) since the last upgrade -
I use yahoo everynight.

Does gohip! (web-based) mail work for you?
Their email accounts are actually hosted by
bigmailbox.com though ;)
However, its not as good as yahoo's, but
should fit your needs.

smtp settings and webmail have absolutely nothig to
do with each other... webmail is using the web brow
ser, smtp is a setting for the email client, you hav
e two totally separate issues there...

what services are you trying smtp for? most email s
ervices don't offer smtp, unless you are paying for
it...
and be sure you are getting the smtp info from the s
ite itself...

and what webmail sites are you trying? maybe they s
imply don't work on dc, though, i have not seen this
much myself... and i just tried yahoo and there wa
s a send button in compose mode...

> does anyone know any free good webmail/pop3 email

s in advance....

there are a few out there (i don't know them myself)
, but, your best bet is to use your pop/smtp offered
by your isp... with "free" you get what you pay fo
r and it will only be a matter of weeks, months at b
est before the service gets iffy and you have to do
the search for a servicepovider all over again and c
hange your email address again...
that said, hotpop had a good reputation last i heard
...
http://hotpop.com probably...
also, i believe uk yahoo still offers free smtp, i c
ould be wrong...

I also notice code:157 error with babelfish JP translator,
http://members.sitegadgets.com/insidious_plots/board.html
Maybe try this new japanese to English bookmarklet
When you use it, you'll see two pull down menu, the left one is for different
font color in English,
The right pull down menu, if click the the top option, the entire page is in
English, second option and it will change back Japanese text on top, English
below.

Look at the bookmarklet, If you change "langpair=2,1" to 1,2 and it will
translate English TO Japanese .

I tried that link with Babelfish.com and it work , but the funny thing is
that babelfish dont want to translate the page from JP to english

Maybe it was a glitch, I tested it and it worked OK.
Somebody updated the AltaVista script some time
ago if I remember correctly. Look around in the
updated links section. I'll look too and see if I find
anything relevent.
