How well does NTl's isp work with dreamcast? Ive been
having lots of problems with my BT line which are just
not being resolved so thinking of switching over to
cable [NTL]very soon. Only reason Im asking is before
Ive encountered a few isps that dont work on my
dreamcast and just wanted to make sure

i just uploaded an hacked icon that does the trick, its skies of
arcadia's.
http://bswirl.stormnetwork.net/vmu/save/public/
its under I>ICONS.

after you save the file to your VM under ICONDATA_VMS go in the boot
menu, place the cursor on any other icon than "game" and press start,
the menu's looking changes a bit, the framerate is slower and the
lighting is different. now you can move the cam pos with the analog
stick and turn it with the triggers.
when you go to the audio menu and listen to a cd theres a nice light
effect around the disc.
to go back to the normal menu press start again.

i didnt tried without yet but i think you need to have the
EXTRA.BG.PVR file on your vm too so it can work

yer dan potter posted this info at consolevision, fackue also posted a
link to a hacked icon downloadable with pw at the same place, jeffma
and another guy posted nice screens so you can see what it does even
if you dont have the file.

http://www.consolevision.com/forums/YaBB.cgi?board=DC_Discussion

i plan on making a tool for that as well, maybe ill just add the
option in the lcd tool.
anybody who wants to post an hacked icon on my site is wellcome, ill
do it later if nobody did it

Right its prob that worm again. BTW that
last one with the attachement
"mails.zip" came from this ip:
213-123-249-76.in-addr.btopenworld.com

UOL and Btopenworld are used by many
members of this and other groups so it
doesn't mean anything.

thx for the warning, i didnt opened it when i saw the title, thats why
i already asked people to avoid to write their message using this kind
of title.
btw the ip doesnt mean much, it could have been sent by someone who
doesnt know hes infected, or it could be a fake ip (well since you
resolved it it exists, but it could have been modified and not been
sent by this machine).
err... just read the resolved name again... uol?? why it reminds me
something...?

Hope nobody opened the attachement. It
was cleverly disguised as mails.txt.exe
which to some might look like a harmless
text file. It isn't of course.

And in case anyone's wondering it
originated from the following ip address

200.147.158.139 which resolved to:

200-147-158-139.dialuol.com.br

yer sometimes the host has some problems, if so try another proxy and
if it still doesnt work try again later.
the bandwidth limit might also be a problem at the end of the month.
sorry not to have answered to it again but it has been said several
time and its also the last update message on the main page.
i hope i wont have to answer to it again

It could be a temporary problem with his host, espec
ially since you say they are all down.

Though I was on his site last night uploading my Seg
a Rally replay from early 2001 (I was playing SR2 lo
ads then) which got me 400th place on the Japanese A
rcae rankings! Not bad out of over 3,000 entries.

yes its strange, thats why most people thought this feature aponed a
security whole that could be exploited to modify the dc bios and make
it execute new apps.
now that the dc is not released anymore sega wouldnt really care about
it so that may be why they finally release the feature in their last game.
also its nice to discover new features after all this time, and it
could make some people want the game just to test that.

Thanks again for the explanation I'll try to look inside of videos and
images. BTW I tried the Puyo Puyo Fever save at your site (my game has
not arrived yet) and is very nice this feature that Sonic Team has
made for the game, is strange it has not been used before.

the file's data is a 256x256 pvr texture, the original format is vq
rgb565 but dan potter reported other color shemes worked too, its
using a special gbix/pvrt header, marcus comstedt made a plugin for
gimp to make your pvr textures.
also i plan to make an online tool later to do these files, vq uses a
complexe algorithm but i think i could use some code from kos to
convert the image on the fly in php.
to get more infos about this file go to

oh yer i forgot the optionnal eyecatch.
in dk/dp files theres no eyecatch so the data starts at offset 640,
then the dk/dp header is 64 bytes long so the embeded files starts at
offset 704.
but in dreameye files there is an eyecatch corresponding to the
image/videos first frame, its 4544 bytes long.
so the data should start at offset 5184, followed by the 64 bytes
header containing the file mimetype and name, that makes 5248

i understand.
btw i told you to copy the content till the eof, but actually the real
file size is defined in the vms header.
go to offset 72, its a 16 bit int little endian corresponding to the
data size in bytes, substract 112 (or 64 for dk/dp files) to this
number to get the embeded file size length.
112 = 64 (embeded file header: type/name) + 48 (dreameye footer:
version/filename).
now you can go to the start offset and select the number of bytes you
obtained by this simple calculation
