Ah. Yes your dead on Karl that was the Worm that
infected it. It was also infected by another called
Lechia or something like that :/ You know we hadnt
even surfed the net, all wed done was connect to the
Homepage for one minute! Ive downloaded the patch to
stop it infecting it again but i guess your right
about him needing i good Firewall, he just has the one
built into XP active at the moment and that wasnt
enough obviously.

Yeah i have that checked. Yes it does display the
Fonts properly because when i first visited Isao XP
asked me if i wanted to install the Japanese Character
Set. No i doesnt really matter anyway because i could
use it on my mates Pc fine without the Character Set
installed. Can you use Chabcall with Java Chab? When i
checked it out with my mates Pc last night i couldnt
see the Chabcall Icon displayed next to names like you
get on DPP.

One last thing before I leave.......sometimes when I go there it does take
quite a while for the applet to load and the certificate to appear. In the
interim I'm also looking at a blank screen but viewing the status bar you
can tell if the applet is in the process of loading. Maybe XP just takes a
bit longer.

I just checked my settings in Explorer. (Tools-Internet Options-Advanced) I
have (under Microsoft VM) JIT Compiler for Virtual Machine checked. The
other two (Logging and Console) are unchecked as they are for developers
anyway. One question: do Japanese sites you go to display correct Japanese
fonts when you visit them? Dunno if it makes a difference though, just
theorizing.

Well if he got the trojan that counts down from 60 seconds (MS.BLASTER) it
didn't come from his isp homepage. He had an open port that got scanned by
an infected pc remotely. First things first GET A FIREWALL! The default one
on XP is a piece of junk. A good free one is Outpost (Google it). Were you
asked to accept a certificate by ISAO? Nothing loads fully till you accept
it.

Its the very latest Internet Explorer Karl. I cant
understand it, everything seems right :/ Its a brand
new Pc that has never been on the net before. I've set
it up and installed all the latest Plug Ins, made sure
Java is activated in the settings, everything.

When i very first went online to his Isp's Homepage,
Telewest Blueyonder, it picked up a virus from
there(How unlucky is that eh!?), but i've downloaded
the Microsoft Patch and the software to shift the
virus and sorted it and its fine. All the Virus does
is slow your Internet Connection way down and make
your computer restart every few minutes when on the
net(RCP Error) so i cant imagine that having caused
the problems, from the info i was sent by my Isp it
doesnt affect any files at all.

Anyway, any other ideas? I've noticed when Pop Up Ads
pop up that they are just blank too.

also make sure you have Jit compiling turned on, java logging and java
console turned on in IE's advanced internet options tab. i dont know
if they are necessarily needed, but everytime ive used the java chab
ive had them on and its worked.

Ah yes, the dreaded resetting disease. If you observe
at the 6 pins (with the power board disconected) you
may see a black residue, causing conection problems
with the power flow. I didn't have any special
cleaning liquids, so I had to use an alternate method
of fixing the problem:

Find a thin conductive metal and cut VERY VERY TINY
rectangle cutouts. Then slide them in between each
"pin" and metalic conecters (obviously done with power
board CONECTED). That was a little tricky to explain.
It may be hard for you to visualize what I just
explained (since you'll be using your DC now, you cant
open it up to look inside while its on LOL)

If you have questions on my method just reply. This
method of mine worked. Its been a year now!

  good luck (:

Hey dudes. I had the same resetting problem with my preivous dreamcast, so I
beat the crap out of it. Now my replacement dreamcast has had the same problem.
Well I got a bud to look at it, and in a move that wasnt assuredly gonna work,
he replaced EVERY transistor on the power supply. Was a big job, took 6 weeks
:-) But it still resets.
Moral of the story.... replacing every transistor on the power supply wont do
but two things. Jack, and shit. And jack just left town.

Thats a very common Dreamcast problem Rich, the same
happened to 2 of my Dreamcasts and has just happened
to Sortileges too! The connections/grips on the
spindle inside snap so the motor cant spin it, if you
listen closely as you spin it you will hear a clicking sound...

Actualy Rich, it is 6 pins. (not a jab) I'm looking at one right now.
I've had this prob before. As Cyber mentioned a good
contact cleaner should work to give a snug fit.
Another cause of this prob could be a degradation
of the CD eye. That can lead to a breakdown in the
power supply if it goes unchecked.

That should solve it. I had a Dreamcast that did
EXACTLY the same, i just dont think you are cleaning
the Pins enough. Give them a really good clean,
bending them back isnt enough and you should only bend
them back "Slightly" anyway. If you look at the Pins
you'll probably see a load of Black deposits, thats
what causes the Reset. Just give them a really good
clean and that should sort it, it fixed mine for good
until the spindle snapped :(

Sunds like some sort of failsafe. This seems to be a
fairly common problem with many DC owners. I have
never had this problem myself, but I have always
assumed it was the power supply giving out, or perhaps
one of the other components. By "bending the six
contacts", are you refering to the pins where the
power supply is conected to the motherboard? I could
have swore there were more than 6. I suppose it could
be one of 2 other problems that I can think of. 1, it
could be the gdrom motherboard going out and the main
bios resets the entire dc because of hardware failure,
or 2 it could be as simple as the controller ports
going bad. Usually a main system bios reset is caused
by hardware failure nontheless. It may be cheaper to
buy another DC rather than replacing parts. Its like
in he old days when a horse breaks its leg. Take it
out in the pasture and shoot i.Uh oh....here comes
PETA....

Swirl, you and I have had our differences in the past.
Big differences. However, I would like to shove that
aside at the moment and say thankyou. This is a very
nice tool. If its ok, I would also like to ask a
couple of questions. Would it be possible to add
select all and delete selections buttons? Would it
also be possible to add folder managment options? Like
moving a selected message to a particular folder.
These features would make it every bit as good as the
real hotmail web client in my opinion. Having seen
some of your abilities first hand via the tools that
you have made, and considering that hail is gnu, this
shouldnt be too hard for you to do. Thanks.

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has a solution for both of my Dreamcasts
that keep resetting. When they reset the screen goes black for a veriable
length of time the it reboots with the white swirl screen. I have heard about
bending the six contacts insie but it doesn't seem to work for me, any other
solutions?

Thanks...

Yeah thats true but they still dont have the resources
to develop and release another console at the moment
but rereleasing the Dreamcast wouldnt be half as
costly so i'd say thats the only feasible option we
are ever likely to see of Sega getting back into the
hardware business. There have been rumours about Sega
releasing a new console every few months since the DC
was ditched lol and the latest rumours wont be the
last i bet. What is true is that Segas Development
Houses are very keen to see a new Sega console, maybe
not now but sometime in the future but that decision
is not up to them.

Yeah Zoot, the rumours i remember was that Microsoft
was going to incorporate Dreamcast Technology inside
the Xbox so it could play Dreamcast games as well as
Xbox games. There were also rumours that the Xbox
would play PC games also....

Its funny Piguma should say that about rereleasing the
DC thou because just the other day i was reading in a
UK Multiformat Games Mag about the Dreamcast gaining
popularity again especially with the release of titles
such as Border Down and King Of Fighters 2002. They
were even suggesting that maybe a rereleae wouldnt be
such a bad idea. Sega are even doing a new Multi
Format version of Puyo Puyo and yes, they are even
doing a version for the Dreamcast....

I picked up a replacement Dreamcast about 4 weeks ago
from my local game shop and they had about 40 PreOwned
Dreamcasts in stock and when i went in the other day
they had completely sold out, they told me that lately
there had been a massive demand for Dreamcasts and
Dreamcast games so maybe a rerelease, or a limited
rerelease even, wouldnt be such a bad idea for Sega
afterall or even some other 3rd Party Company. There
obviously seems to be a demand for it still. They
would have to release it for a very low price like say
50pounds new, you can pick up a new Gamecube for
70pounds so they obviously couldnt sell it for as much
or more than that. If that did happen i doubt they'd
even bother with the Online aspect at all, i think
they'd probably see it as too costly and in that case
would probably release it without a Modem to keep the
cost low. Thats just my opinion.

Supported Planetweb v3.0. It loads fine on DPP, its just a shame i cant get the

Works great on ALL DC browsers AND Web TV!!!!! I reccomend anyone with a
hotmail account (or can create one) BOOKMARK this tool. I couldn't access
hotmail even on MICROSOFTS MSN-TV (Web TV) but the tool worked flawlessly.
As Web TV'ers have many of the same limitations and issues DC users have
this is pretty cool.

Well I stand corrected, scripts (bookmarklets) CAN be saved and run from the
WebTV box (version 2.6, not sure about the "classic" IE 2.0). Interesting as
I have NEVER seen anything posted on WTV groups or sites. Maybe they aren't
aware of running javascript commands from the browser? Oh well guess this
oughta be posted elsewhere but I was a bit surprised.
