live chess with Dreamcast Browsers
im posting this message because we dont have in the messages archive,a good
message to help people with it. im a e-chessplayer, and i just can use Dreamcast
browsers to play it; and i think im not alone...
corresponde (turn based) games are easy to find. there are, at least, two great
sites for correspondence/turn based chess with a Dreamcast browser:
http://www.itsyourturn.com
http://www.redrotpawn.com
but the real challenge is live chess with a Dreamcast browser. 99% of the sites
on the webuses java interfaces or downloadable (self client) interfaces to
provide live game play. and with a Dreamcast, we cannot load java interfaces
(planetweb 3.0 users, tell me if im wrong, but i think we cannot load it with a
planetweb 3.0 too) and we cannot download chess programs. and, where is this 1%?
there is a place for play LIVE chess with a Dreamcast Browser? the answer is
caissa.com:
http://www.caissa.com
there, we can play LIVE chess with any Dreamcast browser (i dont know about
planetweb 1.1). using a Dreampassport 3.0 or a Dreampassport Premier, it can be
faster, because you can click on a piece, and after, you can do a fast click on
the square you want to move the piece, and click on the clock. using planetweb,
you need to click on the piece, wait, then click on the square, and click on the
clock.
there is one important tip: when creating a game and waiting for aopponent, you
will need to reload, until a opponent comes. if you just create the game and
wait, you will never see your new game. you will need to click reload, or visit
the other areas of the website, to see your new game.
i hope this message can help someone. one year ago (or so), i came to Dreamcast
Browsers group, and id posted a message with this same question: "how to play
live chess with Dreamcast Browsers"? we have the answer, and if a person come
here tomorrow, searching for this answer, he/she will find it here.
