Hello, I recently found myself in need of switching from dial-up to DSL on my
Dreamcast. The reason for this is I want to share the conection with Xbox Live
and not pay for a DSL for Xbox and a dial-up for Dreamcast. So I went throught
the costly process of buying a DC broadband adaptor, mouse, and PlanetWeb 3.0
browser. Then I called my ISP and switched to DSL. My ISP is sympatico.ca,
this is the largest ISP in Canada a subsiduary of Bell Canada. If you are
familiar with broadband with the PW3 browser you are presented with 3 options,
PPPoE, DHCP, or Static IP to connect. The PPPoE method was the one that got me
on the net. Now this is where it gets weird, and when I hope someone has
experience and can help. I had established a connection. The problem was many
sites that I had previously visited flawlessly and often with my dial-up
conection would no longer load. Big popular sites like http://www.ebay.com/
http://my.yahoo.com/ . On top of this problem I could load the page that
displays my email but could not open any of the emails unless I sent an email
from myself to myself. I have now cancelled my DSL and am back on dial-up and
my dream of getting Xbox Live is dead. What I would like to hear is from people
who have sucessfully used Dreamcast for a broadband conection with PW3. Please
don't tell me to get one of the Japanese browsers because it's not going to
happen. I would like to here success or failure stories useing the same
configuration as I tried.
Any help is appreciated...
