As "insidious_plots" can tell you, it took me a while to be able to
use Dreamkey on Dreamcast and I couldn't figure out why. It's now
been a while since I solved the problem, and I thought I would tell
you the details before I completely forget what the problem was.
I couldn't use Dreamkey for a while. What would happen is when I
tried to connect, the screen would freeze there and I could not back
out and choose "cancel". However I could use Planetweb. Any
version. I was using 2.6. Often I would notice that the dial
option in PW was set to 'pulse' even though I always selected 'tone'
and saved it as that. I never ever changed it except for having to
change it BACK to tone over and over again. Somehow, PW ver 2.6 was
auto-saving the option as 'pulse' and I can probably safely assume
that was not compatible with Dreamkey.
Once I tried PW ver 2.0 to set the options and saved them, Dreamkey
worked. And now it will only not work if the ISP is dead, in which
case PW will also not work until I enter correct info. I don't know
if this happens on purpose because PW doesn't want you to use DK,
nor do I even know if it happens to anyone else! All I know is I
never use PW 2.6.
So if you don't get this problem, cool, you can use PW 2.6 and the
other features it has. But if you can't use Dreamkey, one of the
superior browsers to PW, check to see if PW 2.6 has the dial setting
set to 'pulse'. It has to be set to 'tone'. And for me, only PW
2.0 and earlier will assure that TONE stays saved.
But please inform me if this does or does not happen to you! I hope
my info is useful to you, because it caused me several weeks or more
(I THINK) of aggrivation, and I don't want someone else to
experience that.
