grrrrrrrr....
this just keeps happening...
ok, EVERYONE, i need your help here...
do you have ANY idea what is getting this much traff
ic???
my stats are not giving me a clear indication... SO
METHING(S) is being visited alot and making my site
go down...
does anyone have ANY clue what is getting this much
traffic? if you go to stuff on my site, where do yo
u go? what are you looking at?
i need to move some stuff to different hosts, but, i
have no idea what is getting this much traffic...
and, those of you who know about hosting...
i know many will say it is one of our pic sites over
there, but, i really don't think so...
firstly, well firstly, no one ever goes there anyway
, so far as i kow...
the other firstly, is that all the actual pics are h
osted on earthlink... they display on a geocities p
age and are linked to from there, but, they are all
on earthlink...
but, what the hell else could it be???
i am exceeding 3 gigs a month?!?!?
that would HAVE to be media! but, i only have some
small midi's and wav's that are linked to from our c
ontact page, so, no way...
my stats would have to show like hundreds of hits a
day to account for 3 gigs of traffic to just the oth
er stuff there, right?
and, all i have... well, i have alot, but, i doubt
much of it is getting visitors... the dcbg projects
directory...
http://geocities.com/insidious_plots/dcbg
and i have uh...
hmmm...
SEE?!!!
that is the point!
i have no idea where 3 gigs is going!
there is the web-demos for the vmu files, but, i dou
bt anyone goes to those anymore...
there are the suferes themselves, which DO use files
in my webspace, but, those are little bitty files..
. and does ANYONE still use the surfers? i sincere
ly doubt it... i use the dual surfer sometimes, but
, that is it, and i don't even think it uses any web
-based files...
i would not think that accounts for 3 gigs a month..
. yes, it IS divided hourly, but, again, all people
would be hitting are some small files... and, agai
n, i just don't show that much traffic...
can anyone PLEASE tell me why this is happening?
i HAVE to move some stuff, but, i don't know what to
move...
with earthlink, we get 10megs per email address (wit
h EIGHT email addresses), 10 gigs of traffic a month
, remote linking of files... it is a great deal...
the only moving problem is that i wonder how many p
eople out there use the surfers and a couple other f
iles that use pages hosted on the web... and, if th
ey are not group members, there is no link on the su
rfer itself... heh... it would just stop working o
ne day...
of course, i would re-direct and hopefully that woul
d solve the problem, more than likely...

Dear GeoCities Member,
Your web site,
http://www.geocities.com/insidious_pl
ots
seems to have been receiving a large amount of traff
ic.
Our records indicate that you're using more than the
allotted amount
of data transfer we provide for a free web site, whi
ch is 3 gigabytes
per month (measured on an hourly basis). That means
that during the
past few days we had to temporarily turn your site o
ff to keep the
bandwidth within this limit.
What can I do?
Keep in mind that large files such as images and mul
timedia files
can effect your data transfer greatly. A single web
page that
contains 200,000 bytes of images will only be able t
o be viewed
about 20-25 times an hour. By keeping your file size
s and page
sizes as small as possible, you can maximize the amo
unt of page views
your site can produce.
You can also upgrade your site to one of our premium
services,
GeoCities Pro or GeoCities Webmaster. These packages
allow for 10 and
20 gigabytes of data transfer per month, and also gi
ve you the option of
purchasing unlimited data transfer so your site will
always be accessible.
These packages also enable you to run an ad-free sit
e at your own
domain name (for example, www.insidious_plots.com) a
nd get matching email
accounts at that domain (like you@insidious_plots.co
m). Upgrading your
current site is simple -- you don't have to move any
files and your
geocities.com/insidious_plots address will continue
to work.
For more information about our new packages, please
visit
http://geocities.yahoo.com/ps/info3
If you'd prefer not to receive this notice in the fu
ture, just go to
http://geocities.yahoo.com/opt/bwemail to take your
name off of the notify
list. Of course, our servers will continue to monit
or your site's data
usage and turn it off if it exceeds the limits.
Thank you for using Yahoo! GeoCities,
The GeoCities Team
