Nice idea, but Sega have only just started publishin
g their own games in Europe so I doubt they have any
where near the amount of cash for the advertising re
quired.... besides the PS3 and XBox 2 are on the hor
izon.
Oh and you marginally mispelt his name... its Yuji N
aka, not Yuki Naka! :)

> Howdy everyone. Im sure you have all heard the rum
ours of a new sega console - a DREAMCAST 2 if you wi
ll. And, if you guys are anything like me, the rumou
rs have been very attractive. Well, i did a bit of r
esearch, and came up with the definitive truth.
> And the result is.......................
> ITS NOT GONNA HAPPEN :-(
> The rumours started at E3 2003, when Yuki Naka (so
rry if I spelt that wrong) said something along the
lines of ~Sega are looking forward to the possiblili
ty of new sega hardware~. well, what happened is tha
t Mr. Naka`s translator STUFFED UP! In reality, he s
aid something more along the lines of working hard t
o impress with new software on other hardware ie: Xb
ox, PS2 etc. Bummer, huh!
> However, it got me thinking. I believe with some
work, Sega could actually re-release the dreamcast
> and possibly have success with it. Think about it
. The DC`s best games still look alot better than so
me of the Xbox and PS2 and GCN games out there. And
NONE of the new consoles support web browsing. Heres
a list of things I think Sega could do to revive th
e Dreamcast.
> 1) Put stacks of cash into the re-launch. pretend
the first launch never happened. Out of sight, out o
f mind.
> 2) Drop the price compared to the first launch, bu
t keep it respectable. I reckon $150US. If it was to
o cheap, it would seem desperate.
> 3) LEAVE the US and UK out of any business. All th
ey did was keep the dreamcast back. The UK and US ha
ve the job of translating the games and browsers, TH
ATS ALL.
> 4) Release every game in every territory. The drea
mcast PAL territory could have made money. If they w
erent so badly screwed over (1 australian web browse
r? COME ON!!)
> 5) REALLY push the online capabilities. Hey, it wo
rked from day 1 with the Xbox!
> 6) Release a whole host of different coloured cons
oles/controllers/VMUs. Give the kids what they want.
> 7) Get REALLY creative with the browsers. Instant
messenger services that work with PCs too. Multi win
dow/ desktop-based browsing. Whatever could make it
more functional.
>
> Well, thats all I can think of, but I seriously be
lieve it could work. I`d love to hear some opinions.
> Seeya, dudes.
