Does anyone use DB II on the Treo 180 (non-graffiti, it has a
keyboard).
The device doesn't have silkscreen buttons which seems to make
switching between views impossible. Am I missing something obvious?
Any ideas on how to make this work?
Oops - my bad. This was fixed a couple days after 1.0.1 was
relesed. That reminds me, we should do a 1.0.2 release since that
bug was pretty significant.
Look for a new release soon.

Hello,
Can you explain why this spell is being used automatically by one of
my level 14 sourcerors without any weapons if I go into attack mode?
Simon.
Yes, that was fixed in V1.0.1 :)

The name of the Gorgon was changed late during the playtest. He's the main monster at the end of your current dungeon. Apparently the creators missed changing the text in this message.
I'm playing DBII for the 3rd time now and I am now in the crypt in the forbidden graveyard.....I never got this message before but it said "One equipped item will be useless against Gorgon." I don't remember Gorgon...who is it? Maybe I already know and forgot due to cheap drugs. -M

I'm about to finish Return of Kra'an and I want to know if I can
look forward to play imediatly another adventure. Also, I was
wondering what do I need to develop my own, I see that there are
Palm simulators available on Mac so I can play DBII on mine, but
I would realy apreciate any info and the more detailed the better
since so not an expert. Thanks a lot.
Dear Dana,
The Palm OS Emulator (POSE) is designed for developing Palm programs,
I originally heard of it from the book __Palm Pilot: The Ultimate
Guide. 2nd Edition_ Author David Pogue, Published by O'Reilly (they
include a copy on the book's CD-ROM). However it can be used to run
Palm programs on your desktop computer, especially if you keep
wearing out the keys of your PDA playing Dragon Bane 1 & 2.
There are three levels to POSE. The first and easiest is to transfer
your PDA to your computer. To do so use the below link POSE
DOWNLOAD. Unzip the download and follow the directions to set up
POSE on your computer. You will use your PDA as the template, so it
will be identical. I wanted to play DB2 in color, but I have a Palm
m500 and a Palm V- both Black & White- so I continued onward.
The second level, Palm Developer Outside USA, can add color outside
the USA. Since I am inside the USA I skipped to the third level.
The third level is to sign up for Palm Developer Inside USA. Use the
below link JOIN DEVELOPER PROGRAM. At the required line "*What best
describes your role in the Palm Economy?" I entered HOBBYIST.
For "What additional roles do you or your company focus on, if any?
(This information is optional)" I answered SHAREWARE DEVELOPER. I
applied for the Basic Membership (Free). Since the form wasn't
clear, under both "*Company" and "*Title" I entered INDEPENDENT
DEVELOPER (HOBBYIST). For "*What tools are you using to develop on
this platform? (check all that apply)" I selected Other and entered
DRAGON BANE 2 ADVENTURE CONSTRUCTION KIT, since I am creating a new
adventure for Dragon Bane 2. Once my application was accepted, I
downloaded the Palm m505 file at the below link PALM M505 DOWNLOAD.
Since I was in the USA, I agreed to the export limits and then I
selected the Palm OS 4.1 download and followed the directions to set
up POSE as a m505.
I move the current game-Drg2SaveMSRK.PDB or Drg2SaveTMHA.PDB- to my
PDA when I'm leaving home for a while, and move it back to my desktop
computer when I want to play it in color. Currently I am
replaying "Return of Kra'an" to get a feel for proper treasure
placement. <grin> It will take me forever to find all 9 sunfruits
again.
For the second level if you are outside the USA, you can use the PALM
IIIC DOWNLOAD below. Download Palm 3.5 ROM Type.
I hope that helps. If you have any questions you can post here, or
talk to Palm.com.
Sincerely yours,
Nuke 'em from 20'

Dear A_Akes,
Actually, once you play Dragon Bane 2: "Return of Kra'an" (DB2RK) you
can download the free Dragon Bane 2 Adventure Construction Kit
(DB2ACK) and create your own adventures including your own characters.
DB2RK changes the characters from the first Dragon Bane (DB1). The
WIZARD gets even more powerful as he gains spells that attack all
enemies, not just individuals or groups. The SORCERER loses NEAR
FOE+, FAR FOE+ and CONFUSED (now BESERK+) which the THIEF gets. The
ELF is replaced by the TROGLODYTE class. A new class, the
NECROMANCER (my personal favorite), is added with new spells that can
restore your party's spell points.
But what really makes DB2RK fun to play are the little changes, like
the ability to zoom into a section of the map view. The ability to
examine an item and find out exactly how much damage it does. The
addition of group attack weapons for the KNIGHT and ARCHER. The new
MAGIC COMPASS spell that not only shows you what direction your are
facing, but a small overhead view. The ability of WIZARDs, SORCERERs
and NECROMANCERs to cast OPEN PORTAL, instead of just the WIZARD
class, so if your WIZARD dies, you can still get your party home.
The trick of storing extra items on other characters in the INNs.
The ability to play the game in color (I don't have a color PDA, so I
play DB2 on my computer when I want to see the nifty color version).
My problem with DB1 was I chose a party of DWARF, ARCHER, THIEF,
WIZARD and SORCERER. They worked very well in dungeons but not
against KRA'AN. I lost to KRA'AN the first time, and wished I had
some way of getting the FIGHTER up to high level so I could have his
NEAR FOE+ spell versus KRA'AN. I ended up killing KRA'AN anyway, but
it was tough. DB2RK solves my problem with DB1 by letting you get
new characters later on in the adventure. In fact, with the correct
characters, killing KRA'AN was very easy. Like in DB1, other
characters can kill KRA'AN, it just is harder.
You should enjoy DB2RK more than DB1, I know I did.
Sincerely yours,
Nuke 'em from 20'
Digression: Actually, I think you'll find DB2RK very well balanced,
especially with new items like group attack melee and missile weapons
for the KNIGHT and ARCHER to use at high levels. I looked at
changing the character statistics, but they are integral to each
class. You can think of each character as being the highest STR,
INT, STA and DEX possible for his/ her class at 1st level. Instead I
tried to come up with my own classes instead. The only unique one I
could come up with was the MONITOR class. I have added slightly
improved ARCHER, KNIGHT and NECROMANCER classes called the SNIPER,
RIOT CYBORG, and RIOT MAGE class (all of which suffer experience
point penalties and advance slower than their base character). I
still haven't decided if my BUILDER class is a new class or a melding
of THIEF, TROGLODYTE, SORCERER and NECROMANCER.

In DB2 you still don't create your own characters, but there are lots more to choose from. Lots more character classes, and two characters of each class with different stats.

Dear Dana
<grin> It sure felt that way playing "Return of Kra'an"
Btw I downloded POSE (run palm programs on your computer) and since
I'm working on DB2ACK, palmos.com let me have the ROM for the Palm
m505 (so I can run palm programs in color). Dragon Bane II is cool
in color.

That's very strange. Now that I know it isn't the known problem, can you
describe it in more detail. Or better yet, as you said, post some pictures
(or email them to me directly).

Yeah, my Palm IIIx had that problem severely, so I'm familiar with
those issues. However, the Dragon Bane problem on my new Vison Edge
appears to be something different. Running the nostreak hack makes no
difference. If I get a chance, I'll take some pictures.
There are two problems with some devices in grayscale mode.
1) The screen shimmers and flickers.
2) The screen gets strange bands across it in high contrast areas.
These problems are related. They are both a side effect of the LCD
hardware. The first is from the refresh rate of the screen (how often the
hardware updates the pixels) being too low. The second is caused by it
being too high. There is a program called Streak Hack
http://bodotill.suburbia.com.au/nostreak/nostreak.html that may help you
out. This problem is not specific to Dragon Bane, but is a side effect of
using the display in grayscale mode. The Streak Hack site has even more
information.

Actually, what I'm seeing and what other people are describing is
totally unlike the problem the FAQ mentions, and unlike anything I've
seen in any other program.
Are you low on memory? If not, please email us one of your save games so we can try it out and see if it could be corrupted, or if they are clean.

It appears that you are stripped of magic armor as soon as you engage
