Thanks for your prompt reply...
The good thing is I still have the old Palm with the original
saved game files...I installed the desktop software (Along with the
same user name) for the original B & W on another computer, did a hot
sync, then did a locate file from the start menu for Drg2SaveMSRK.pdb
and still nothing. Should I just give up, start over and forget
about my Lv. 22 characters? (I was still in training to kill Kra'an).
Thanks again!

Note the order of parameters on the MAP EXIT instruction are: X Y
Map#. I've made the mistake before of transposing them and
supplying Map# X Y. If that's not the cause of your problem, pls
email us the two map files and we'll look at it.

Hello.
I have set up the ACK successfully, virtually written the story & are
currently designing the maps. As I design I progressively check the
designs on the emulator. I understand the logic of the map editor & I
have also written a couple of batch files for example to compile
my .pdb adventure for loading into the emulator.
I am just starting to make myself familiar with the special
instruction code & again have no problem understanding the logic
behind these command lines.
However the problem I encountered was when I was animating a gate to
move from one map to another. Using Map Exit from map 0 to map 1
worked perfectly, but when I coded the gate on map 1 to go back to
map 0 I ended up going to nonsense coordinates (1,254) on map 1.
Map 0 has been partially drawn but map 1 was blank, except for the
test gate. Basically I am intending to put in "test" gates or portals
between all maps & leave the monsters out so I can just simply move
between maps to check initial designs at this early stage on the
emulator.
Your input will help me to further understand the command logic.
Regards,
Simon
Could be:
1) You had some previous installation of the Palm Desktop in another
directory besides C:/palm?
2) You had a different username for your old palm besides
c:/palm/username?
3) You deleted the previous installation of the desktop software or
previous user's backup directory.
4) You didn't do a hotsync to backup your savegame with the previous
user?
If you locate the right installation of the Palm desktop software,
with the right user under that installation's directory, and you had
done a hotsync with that user, you should have a: "Drg2SaveMSRK.PDB"
in the backup directory of that user.

I must be missing something or I'm just and idiot.
My scenario:
I had a palm 5000 with the 2K memory installed. I had DBII with the
4 grey scales and a few saved games. I just bought a Colour palm
IIIC. I installed the new Palm Desktop on my computer and then
hotsynced. I installed the new files to support the colour and then
entered the registration code...It works fine but my saved games
aren't in their. I looked in the C/palm/username/backup file and all
I found was 1 file: "SavedPrefrences.prc" not anything resembling
Drg2Save. Any detailed instructions on how to help will be
exceptionally appreciated. Thanks!

You are right about Raamtha's obsession with healing and I was
playing that card early on. That was how I was able to get rid of the
Monks (Heric used the Green destiny and Poe the Magic bow). What I
was missing was the fact that Raamtha only cast Insane at a distance
of 30' or less. Once that became evident, I pushed Raamtha back after
finishing off the monks and then hammered him with the Great Cross
Bows. It was a long and glorious fight!
Just for fun I am now going see if I can attack him up close using
multiple hit weapons (magic bow and enchanted sword). I will have to
go and get some elemental's first. Thanks for the tip.

It seems that Raamtha only goes on the offense when he is and his cohorts are mostly or fully healed. If he is damaged, he seems to mostly cast heal party. I think the key to taking out Raamtha with a small party is to take advantage of that weakness. You have to do enough damage so he spends all his time healing. Have Heric use a multiple hit weapon on the monks. Each turn he will hit enough of them that Raamtha will heal. It helps if Heric is faster than Raamtha
Another big help is to have a fire elemental. Buy a resting fire lamp and the mage shop. The elemental makes up for Poe's lack of offense. Also, what are you saving your wand of rest for? Use it! You will have a chance to buy another before you get to Kra'an.

The jester is just a red herring. You can ignore him. Or, if you want, tell him "wheeeee".
You can find the last posted puzzle walkthrough at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DragonBaneII/message/497. As far as I know, no one has posted a complete strategy guide. The walkthrough doesn't mention the easter egg level, but if you review the other posts at the yahoo group, you will find hints.

Does anyone know what to say to the jester when he shows up on the weekend? Does it even do anything? Also, is there complete walkthrough/strategy guide with easter eggs and secrets?

I figured it out about 10 mins after my post. Along with the pleasant

Does anyone know what happened to the idea for a hint website based

was a start on that in the bet a group, and I was wondering if
that's going to be completed?

Hi Larry,
I am going through DB2 for the second time and trying to verify parts of the walkthrough - am up to Kra'an's Lair 1.
For Kra'an's Lair 1, I have a couple of suggestions:
1) Make a note that you can pick up a Staff of Kinesis at 11,3 with 4 charges that renews when the Weird sphere is used. You should pick up the Staff before starting in the NW room. This will help save spell points in casting Open Portal. 2) Clarify the note for the East room - the chest for the Weird Sphere reappears after you leave the room in case you need to go there again via the NW room to get another Weird sphere.
Cheers, Chris

It's not timed by the clock. It's timed by moves. No less frustrating,
though.

Turning around counts as 2 moves. Looking at the overhead map doesn't
count as a move. There are uses for the "slide left" and "slide right"
buttons (the outer two).

Dear Dana,
There should be no realtime puzzles in "Return of Kra'an". The two
times I remember having timed events, they were always timed to _how
many_ moves you party takes. There are lots of time when
the "adventure text" says, "Hurry" but it is just for game flavor.
It really means "take the _shortest_ route".

Okay, I've got a problem, and I blame the programmers over at Mythological.
I can NOT get past the locked door where you need to press a button and
then run to the door before it gets locked again. My disability prevents
it. SO... my registered copy of DBII is useless now that I'm stuck and
can't get any farther. Guys, I realize that you built this for a wide
audience, but by having a timed puzzle, you have shut out those of us with
physical disabilities. I'm frustrated, and upset. (Spent several HOURS
trying to get past it, and no luck).

I'm in Kra'an's Lair 1 right now with just Heric, Poe, and Wythera. They're each level 18 and doing fine. I may try just Heric and Poe next time.

Well, you get the key from Thsspoc, but first you have to rescue Unger, which means you have to find Helix first, but that means you have to find the figurine, but to do that you have to go to Cellar 2, but of course before that you have to get to Cellar 1. If you haven't found Cellar 1 yet, explore north-east New Treleon, watch for graffiti writing on walls, then visit the pub there at night.
Have fun!

On Dragon's Bane II, where can I find the keys to get into the sewers at Talon Cloister. I know how to sneak in at night and I have a vault key, but can't find the keys to get into the sewers.
Please help me just this once.

I'm the one who had trouble with the Dock V/Gamepad combo - BUT I was
running Palm 0S 3.5 - and I just downloaded from the Palm site an
update to the OS, now 3.5.2, which Palm says fixes "minor" problems
with crashes with third party systems.
I have already returned my Dock V and Gamepad - so I can't say if this
helps - but in all fairness must post this possible source of the
problem.

Crypt Level 2 has a Zombie room. If you try and move, you will
encounter a Zombie or Zombie Lord. Think about it. Spoiler below.

Kill the Zombie Lord.
Weird. I haven't ever found a room where monsters appear at every step, although that sounds like my kind of trap. It might be kind of fun...
I have always been able to pick up the silver key just like any other key. No extra monster hoards. If you are really getting an encounter with every step, it could be a bug.

I can't seem to get to the Silver Key. I'm in the NW room, but everytime I move, a zombie (or zombie lord) pops up blocking my way.
I've moved around the room and killed like 20 of them so far with no luck.
How do you get around them?

Dear Morgan,
You might want to ask if any of the beta testers have new adventures
nearly ready to go.
I know with Duke Nukem- see previous post on free computer game
adventures- many people started building adventures who did not
finish them.
Dragon Bane 1 was fun, you should buy it.
My wife talked me into creating a Dragon Bane 2 Engine Adventure
(DB2EA) a few days ago- and if it works she will also be writing one-
but I don't know if either will ever be finished. If we do finish
them, I don't know if we will release them to the public (freeware,
shareware, commercial ware). I just spent a 12-18 hours adding 5
spells, 2 items, 2 characters and 1 class to SampleAdventure. Not to
mention, I still haven't fixed the summoned elementals in HERO_VB.TXT
yet, which reminds me I have to ask Gabe and Jason something.
I must admit I was hoping DB2ACK would include the maps from "Return
to Kra'an" and I could play it with new characters, classes, spells,
items and monsters. Mythological Software realizes the source code
to the maps is worth lots o' currency and have not released them.
The map, character, class, spell, item and monster files are all
compiled together, so you need the map's source code. I have spoken
to Gabe and Jason about other aspects of DB2E. I believe this
integral compiling was a conscious decision on their part to preserve
game balance, simplify the programming and give the map's creator
ultimate control on the game balance for each map. The creator can
decide to release the source code for maps, characters, classes,
spells, items and monsters or just the compiled adventure. They have
generously supplied all the source code for "Return of Kra'an" except
the maps. Thus eliminating man years of work for an aspiring DB2EA
writer.
If you ask nicely, a bunch of people on the Internet might get
together a "dungeon tile" shop. Each tile could be designed to link
to other tiles using an agreed upon format, the simplest would
be "forward movement" at (1,1) and (25,25) and "backward movement" at
(25,1) and (1,25). By simple chaining the tiles, you could build
quick dungeons. The occasional non-tile levels could be thrown in
for variety or it could be a straight "dungeon crawl". "Dungeon
Crawls" would just need a beginning level, with backward movement
removed, and an ending level, with forward movement removed.
