Anyone know of new games for DragonBane? I have Dragon Bane I and II,
plus Demelza. All of them fantastic and highly addictive. Anyone know
of any others or what's the prognosis?

I tried using the game editor to make more myself but my tiny brain
can't figure it out.

Thanks, Jim, that's another good idea that I should have thought of
myself. Time to up the gingko supplements :-)

If you go to an in and exchange one of your party members with another
character. (Not the one with the vault key!) You can then pass the
vauly key to that character and then swap him back to the inn. I use
this trick to get rid of useless gems. Even to stash items for later
use eg DB sword parts.

Yes, I made this mistake myself. As one of the innkeepers hints at,
it's a con. There is no vault; it's a waste of 300gp. And, what's
even worse, is that it takes up a slot in your inventory and you can't
sell it or drop it or otherwise get rid of it (at least, not that I've
found).

Thanks for that, Iordarthur.  I feel silly; seeing as most of my party didn't have spells at level 1 I'd not bothered checking when they got level 2 & 3; not only Caleb but also Gyrko and Heric can cast Near Foe!  After learning this I knocked off Ta'Kall straight away (although lost everyone but Mordor and Wythera doing it, so took a while to build up the gold to resurrect everyone).  It's so much easier when you can get him within thumping range in 1 round.

Thanks for the info re Poe, Charles; not sure if I should dump Gyrko or Caleb, actually - I like Gyrko's automap, & he's a lot more useful spells than Caleb, plus I've boosted his Strength so much he matches Caleb in pretty much everything but hp.  Hmm, might be interesting trying out the rest of the game without a Knight :-)  I've managed to make it so far with the occasional poison & insanity; usually carry a serpent staff around which fixed the poison - insanity has happened so rarely (once) I've just tramped back to town & got it cured.

Yes, I recommend you dump Gyrko and pick up Poe. Poe can use knives, bows and other magic weapons to provide some offensive capability, but his real value in extended engagements is as a medic. If you think you’re having trouble getting through this level with your current team, just wait until you’re faced with your team members being poisoned and made insane.

Howdy, all.

I'm having trouble getting past Ta'Kall, and I'm wondering if the
problem is because I have the worse possible combination of characters
in my party.

I also had many problems with the Dragon Prince; died about 10 times
in a row, went around & killed off wandering monsters until I got up a
level & then finally knocked him off after about 3 or 4 more goes.

With Ta'Kall I've died 10 times in a row, wandered around & got up to
level 11 & then came back & died another 10 times in a row, all
without getting close to knocking him off.

I've read message 330 & 341 and noticed the major party differences,
which leads me to believe I just can't win with the party I have.
I've tried different strategies, e.g. concentrate purely on damaging
Ta'Kall vs take out the Dark Knights first & v.v., but nothing seems
to be working.

My party, in order with their hp, normal AC & weapons are:
Caleb (105, -4, Fire Brand* or Deadly Darts*), Gyrko (84, -2, Military
Sabre or Long Spear), Heric (88, -2, Great Cross Bow*), Wythera (88,
4, Great Cross Bow*), Mordor (59, 8, Wand of Attraction or Lightning
Staff) and either the Windmage (to hopefully Treat Party) or Iqtar (to
beat up the Knights) or Fire Elemental (bit of both).

Note that I have gone through the entire game without a
Sorcerer/Necromancer, so can only heal via the occasional wand of
treat player, and getting Heric to cast Materialise so as to afford
the gold to get healed at temples. The other problem, from reading
330 & 341, appears to be that I have only one character doing Near Foe
on Ta'Kall, and that's with a Wand, whose Dex is only higher than Caleb's.

Does anyone think I can beat Ta'Kall with this party, and if so, how?

Thanks.

Peter

I'm just behind you in playing, but what I can tell you is slide when
you move to shorten the number of turns. Th portal/door is set to stay
open for onlt so many turns. Each time you turn just to point in the
direction you want to go that takes a turn. Hope that helps.

I'm trying to figure out how to complete the game after beating
Kra'an. According to Larry F's walkthru you should explore Kra'an
level 2 again and find a message saying "something fishy is going on"
but I can't find the message. Anyone know where it is to be found?

Where in Kra'an's Lair 2 did you find the message saying "something

Go to Arbor Crest at (12,7)and enter the building. Thsspok will give you the
key to the sewer. He gives you the key so that you can free one of his kin that
was turned into a statue in Arbor Crest. Once you complete the sewers you will
be able to free the stature.

I'm not sure how much you have progressed. The vault key is not of any
use in this adventure. It might be easier for you to read Larry
Fluckinger's walkthrough (See the Files section in the Walkthru
folder) to see if that will help.

Good luck, and post back if you are still stuck.

I have not been able to get into the sewer. Perhaps you can give me
an earlier clue. I have the vault key. I know where to find the
sewer door, the graveyard door & the level to the east of it with the
sneering guards, but have not been able to get into any of those.

BTW, some of the messages imply that I should be able to locate or
interact with characters in bars other than the barkeep, or perhaps
find items. Is that true? If so, how is it done?

Thanks,

Dan

my group works best as I am sure many can contest. But I will say
this is a very strong group to have.

I first went through the game without a spell caster. It was much harder.
Keep in mind that I have a Pocket PC and thus have the "instant death" glitch
with my game. Because of this "instant death" from spell-casting monsters, I
had to have a strong group. The group that worked out best for me on continuing
games were having Caleb, Gyrko, Wythra, Mordore, and Poe in that order. I am
not saying that my group works best as I am sure many can contest. But I will
say this is a very strong group to have.
The referral below pertains within the sewer dungeon.

Talon Coister is only 12x12, so (10,24) & (2,24) cannot refer to
locations in it. Outside (Wilderness) (10,24) lies within the Talon
Coister, and so is unreachable. What level do these coordinates refer to?

Thanks,

Dan

third. Forward to the fourth. Turn around and move south and press the
button at the south of the fourth hallway. Then you can exit that
hallway to the north. If you need to come back through you will have
to press the east-most button again.

After solving the Brother's Keeper puzzle in Raamtha's Dungeon

I collected the divine key and was then attacked, following the attack
the divine key was turned into a useless Gem and I cannot get into
either the brother's keeper area or past the divine key gate. Also I
unfortunately saved over my saved game prior to noticing the key was
changed.

Any ideas about getting into the gate? Are there any hacks to add the
key back to my saved game.

This part of turning random unequiped items into gems is a real pain.

Has there been any updates on this bug?

I have it on my WM5 based JasJar and it's got to the point where two
areas are "unbeatable" due to sudden death.

Looks like WM5 is the common here.
My JasJar with WM5 has sudden death too. I have a save game with a
reproducable "sudden death" battle if you are interested in it...

Go to (24,24). At that top right pillar in the Lord's Lair is the answer to the
riddle in black and white. Good luck on your quest.
