########## Public Reply, Private Message
########################################

Hi Dwayne,

Thank you for sending bug reports as a private email.

Without more details, I am not sure these are actually bugs, so I am replying
with a public message.

Creatures with "=" in their name have pistols/ ranged effects. Creatures with
"+" in their name have ranged attacks that can effect the entire party. "RAT
LAD=" have "PISTOL 3=9" which have a range of 30 feet. So you could ADVANCE,
and the distance could reduce but still not be 10 feet, and the "RAT LAD="
could still attack. If you are fighting one group of creatures, you need to be
careful. The only options the Dragon Bane II Engine (DB2E) will give you are
ATTACK, DEFEND, CAST SPELL, USE ITEM. When you select ATTACK it will move on
to the next party member. If you are fighting two or more groups of creatures,
when you select ATTACK it will ask you which group you are attacking. When it
shows you the choice for the groups, it will also show you the distance, 10 to
70 feet. Melee weapons only work at 10 feet from the first three slots of your
party. If there are two groups of creatures, one at 10 feet and one at 20 feet,
you cannot ADVANCE through the 10 feet group, so the 20 feet group will be out
of melee range.

If you are walking down a gravel or cobblestone trail, sometimes creatures are
hiding under ambush spells. Without a set of "ANTI-AMBUSH RING", creatures
hidden by ambush spells get to attack the party once before the party can
attack back. Hidden ambushes also tend to have a group of melee at 10 feet and
a group of ranged weapons at 20 feet.

Your party is in a 4-2 formation. The first three slots in your party are the
front, the next two slots are the rear, and the last slot (elemental in MSRK,
avatar in ATSA) is also in the front. So if you are using a melee weapon, "<"
symbol, you need to have that weapon in the first three slots of your party.
Character melee weapons cannot fight through the first three slots. As a
balance, creatures without "=" or "+" (50% of creatures) cannot attack the
fourth and fifth slot in your party since they are in the rear. This is why
most people put invoker characters in the rear, and invoker characters tend to
use projectile weapons.

The first 'bug' you mentioned sounds like a common occurrence. Sometimes when
monsters use spells (or pistols) against the party, the Dragon Bane 2 Engine
(DB2E) will show X damage, then a few more combat messages, then you will
notice the change in character HP. Next time this happens, see if you can
write down the situation.

Look up your party classes in "Doc Classes Description GG v.txt". Water-kin &
Assassin ignore the first 5 points of any creature attack. Monitors ignore the
first 30 points of any creature attack. So a "RAT LAD=" doing 3 points of
damage to a Water-kin will actually do 0, while a "LADY BUG=" doing 10 points
of damage to a Water-kin will actually do 5 points. As a balance, Water-kin &
Assassins have less HP than other fighters and weaker armor than melee
fighters. Monitors are unable to use any Intermediate or Advanced weapons (see
"Doc Weapon Acc EE v.txt"). If you look at the graphic for the Monitor
characters it shows a medal to indicate the Monitor is a combat character
followed by MA 00-00 (melee accuracy intermediate 00, advanced 00) PA 00-00
(projectile accuracy intermediate 00, advanced 00) and IA 00-00 (invoke
accuracy intermediate 00, advanced 00) just like the numbers listed in "Doc
Classes Description GG v.txt". So at very high levels, the Monitor is still
limited to "PISTOL 3=9" while a Striker could use a "RIFLE=60" (an advanced
projectile weapon).

If this does not help, write down your situation, save the game, and backup the
saved game. Then email A Hobby That Pays, Inc., the saved game.

William

Hi Don,

A Hobby That Pays, Inc. (AHTPI) is a Virginia based corporation.

AHTPI cannot currently afford a website, all the links are for email

Hi Batkyvalentin,

There is no way to hasten the passage of time except sleeping,
however, you can keep from wearing out your thumbs (Note 1).

While waiting, also visit the magic shop to see if it has any new
items.

William

Note 1)

Hint: if you are moving aimlessly in the sunlight to recharge
spellpoints (or waiting for time to pass), wait 1 second Real World
Time between party moves. This will minimize the number of party
moves you need to regenerate spellpoints. If you have one, you can
use a metronome.

==============================
Tock:= one unit of solar time
:= one tick in "Dragon Bane 2: Return of Kra'an" (MSRK), not to be
confused with one tick in Palm OS.
:= Game World Time is 5 minutes & 38 seconds
:= Real World Time (if NOT running) 1 party move
:= Real World Time (if running) 1 second

Party move is any command that moves the party:= forward,
backward, turn left, turn right, slide left, slide right.
Running is making repeated party moves, with less than 1
second Real World Time between moves.
Example: If you make a party move, then wait 1 hour in Real
World Time and make another party move, the second move takes 1 tock
(or 5 minutes 38 seconds Game World Time).
If you move forward, forward, forward, forward, forward, turn left,
turn left, forward, forward, forward, forward, forward, turn left,
turn left, forward, this is 15 party moves. If you do this in 10
seconds in Real World Time, then you are running. Since you are
running, all 15 party moves only take 10 tocks (or 56 minutes 20
seconds Game World Time). If you made the same party moves without
running (took more than 1 second Real World Time between party
moves) then these 15 moves would take 15 tocks (or 1 hour, 24
minutes, 30 seconds Game World Time).

Hint: if you are moving aimlessly in the sunlight to recharge
spellpoints, wait 1 second Real World Time between party moves.
This will minimize the number of party moves you need to regenerate
spellpoints.

Hi RHanusa,

Thank you for your feedback and your compliment.

I am unsure what you mean about 10% of the experience points you should be
getting. If you could give me a specific example, that might help me solve
your problem.

As a generic answer, if you are unsatisfied with how fast your party is
advancing, you can adjust the difficulty level. Default for population is
"BASELINE x2 (EASY)" which means monsters appear twice as often as the
recommended population "BASELINE x1 (RECOMMENDED)". During testing, I often set
the population to "BASELINE x4" so I encounter monsters twice as often as
default and four times as often as recommended. The more often you encounter
monsters, the more experience points you will have after completing a strata
(overhead map).

I am unsure what you mean about being cryptic. If you could give me specific
examples, that might help me solve your problem.

As a generic answer, if you have a program on the PDA/ smartphone that can read
text files, you might want to load the following text file:

"Doc Spell Description FF v.txt"

It contains information on

symbols ("=" indicates an item/ spell that effects/ attacks one creature or
effects/ attacks one member of the party while "+" indicates an item/ spell
that effects/ attacks one group of enemies or effects/ attacks the player's
entire party).

spell names (" COMET DRAIN 5+AH20C" has a range of 50 feet ("5" times 10);
attacks one group of enemies in that range ("+"); is a receiver all, reaper
attack ("A"); is a hitpoints, reaper attack ("H"); does a maximum of 20 points
damage ("20"); does less damage against creatures with chemical resistance
("C"); while "HOT LEAD BURST 3&33F" has a range of 30 feet ("3" times 10);
attacks all enemies in that range ("&"); does a maximum of 33 points damage
("33"); does less damage against creatures with fire resistance ("F"))

spell effects ("CAMO 02  tocks(*10):= 2   SP:= 4   Result:= makes the party
uninteresting to roaming or travelling creatures. Stationary or perceptive
creatures are not fooled, neither are bio traps such as a field covered in
thorns. Charm:= mask" is a low level version of STEALTH, but only lasts 20
tocks instead of 60 tocks.  "REVIVE SENTRY+13  tocks(*10):= 13  SP:= 4
Result:= creates a sentry which revives a character during combat. note: does
not work against traps. Charm: heart" is a version of SAVING THROW that lasts
130 tocks instead of 80 tocks. This is important, since "REVIVE SENTRY+13" now
has the same duration as "ARMOR+1 RESIST+10" and other armor spells.)

You might also try "EXAMINE"
on a specific object to gain more details than just the object name.

Sincerely yours,
William

I didn't find any way to do so. I spent my time
exploring around outside the city.

By the way, after many frustrating attempts (and lost
spell points) to open a portal ON any of the various
portals, I finally figured out that you have to be
facing the portal square, and not actually be standing
on top of it. It's a nice option. I hope this helps.

I'm not that far along in the game, so I don't know,
but have you tried levitating? You probably have, but
that's the only thing I can think of.

Hi,

If you can play Dragon Bane II "Return of Kra'an" [MSRK] you can
play Dragon Blossom [ATBA] or Saexgryth ™(tm)[ATSA] since they
are
add on data. The only difficulty is if you do not have enough

I have tried everything possible to get over the pit in the ground
(the one with the portal that you have to first face the minotaur to
get out of) but I can't seem to get over it. Can anyone help me? am I
not suppose to go over it?

Hi,

I released Dragon Blossom -- for free -- in August, and have gotten
zero feedback (Note 1).  Several people are working on editing
tools, so I expected to get some response to releasing levels you
can change and examine (Note 2).  I am worried because Dragon Bane
II "Return of Kra'an" (MSRK) is the only game I have heard of were
developers did not release the level files so you could alter the
levels with the level editor.  I expect more people to be buying
competing games like Edge or Legacy (Note 3) next year.  Legacy also
has a level editor and has won several awards that MSRK won when it
first came out.

One of our Saexgryth™(tm) Beta testers, Simon, has given me very
good feedback on problems involving installation, Pocket PC and
starting the game.  As far as I know, all bugs have been discovered
at this time, wide release will most likely cure me of this
perception.

I am looking to have a small group give me more detailed feedback,
especially on what to include in the game's manual.  Except for the
lack of manual, Saexgryth™(tm) appears to be ready for release.

Sincerely yours,
William
A Hobby That Pays, Inc.

Note 1) I expected some comments on the revamped classes, spells and
items.

Note 2) I expected people to change the levels I have released and
post those changes for other's to play.

Note 3) Legacy and Edge require Palm OS 5 and 320 x 320 display or
Pocket PC.  With Palm OS 6 nowhere in site people who are holding
onto Palm OS 4 and 160 x 160 display PDA will probably be replacing
them this Christmas.

If it were not for Palm OS 6 and the Treo 600's lack of a
replaceable battery, I would have bought a Treo 600 last year.  Now
with the Treo 650's removable battery and the delay of Palm OS 6, me
and several friends are buying one of the following models: Treo
650, Zodiac 2 or Tungsten E.  All of these will let us play Edge and
Legacy.

other members, and the 1st prize would have been worth $90 United

prize would have been worth $30 USD.

"Member of the Week" contest would allow members to win smaller
weekly prizes.

"Treasure Race" contest would be based on the first member to find

$20 USD and with two people something worth $15 USD each.

I would like to participate in testing this game.  I'll do my best to contribute in making Saexgryth(tm) better and (hopefully) bug free.  By the way, I'm using an O2 XDAII Pocket PC Phone.

Hi,

Just found out that Palm OS 6 will probably be delayed further.
Some people are blaming this on Sony pulling out of the US market,
others on the Xerox Graffiti lawsuit and others on the splitting of
hardware to PalmOne and software to PalmSource.
