Hi,

There is a sequence that works - only the westmost gate opens. Watch
where the chests move when you hit the switches until the chest in
the left (west) door of 5.

However, if you want a more full answer see Larry Fluckinger's great
walkthrough in message #1674.

Hope this helps.

There is no use for the Vault key - sort of a red herring. Since you
cannot drop it, just give it to a nonplaying character at one of the
inns in New Treleon.

Hope this helps.

You just have to type in the monster that you see. You should have
encountered all three up to that point.

See below for full answers.

Any help on any of the following three itmes would be appreiated:

1) A week or so ago, a link to a hex editor was given, and some brief
instructions to edit it. I am unable to find the "gold" variable in
any of the saved files. EXCEPT the "temp" file (which I was 'warned'
not to edit. Even so, since that's all I could find with the
word "GOLD" - I edited it. And, in deed, when I first launch the
game, I DO have that extra gold. But as soon as i bring up the
character screen, and then close it again, it reverts to the old
value. Does anyone know how/where to edit the gold and make it STAY
that way?

2) Also - can someone tell me specifically how to enable some of the
unique items that are said to be somewhere in this file?

3) Finally - I am not able to see the complete email address of the
original poster, so have been unable to ask him directly. It was my
understanding that everyone SEES the email address, yet the last few
characters are always clipped on my screen.

Dear DB2ACK creators,

This time my tool comes completely with an Insall Tool. All you have
to do is unzipping the file and then to click on the "Setup.exe" and

Marcus, that looks great!  We were hoping to one day have a visual
editor for the non-map game resources.

After a fresh install of the DB2ACK V1.3, I pointed the AckTool to
my .../DB2ACK/Adventures/SampleAdventure directory, and it seemed to
accept that.  I was able to open the adventure text window and view
and edit all the text.  But when I try any of the other classes, the
program crashes with:

"Runtime error 339, component cNumberBox.ocx or one of its
dependencies not correctly registered - a file is missing or
invalid."

Should I try getting a new Visual Basic runtime library?  If so, can
you add instructions to your readme with the exact link, version
number, etc?

A few other suggestions:

- Include in docs, descriptions of the icons -- I got load and save
because the mouseover displays the text, but none of the other icons
are obvious

- Include in the docs, a description of all the files your program
tries to read when you open a project.  I was unable to load my
Return of Kraan project -- maybe you expect a certain directory
structure to exist at the root directory of the project?

Hi, all dedicated frieds of Dragon Bane II!

I have created a "front end" tool for the DB2ACK, complete now with a
MAPEDITOR and CODEEDITOR. I hope that this tool will ease the process
of developing adventures.
Some features:
+ Edit characters
+ Edit monsters
+ Edit spells
+ Edit objects
+ Edit object profiles
+ Edit classes of heroes
+ Edit Game Text
+ NEW: Edit maps and special code (replacement for the map editor)
+ compile the adventure

+ notes on the mapeditor: Enter the map editor by selecting a map that
belongs to your project or adding a new map to it. You can then simply
set a wall by doubleclicking on the square. Remove it by presseing
<DEL> or by pressing the red "X" button. Enter the script mode with
F11 or the button.
+ Scripteditor: You`ll see the motion script and the display script on
the left. Select a command and you will be presented the options.
Chance the options and press SET Button to confirm the changes. If the
argument is a character, the options box will present you the list of
the available characters and a button to the character form to create
a new one. The same is true for objects, spells and so on. You can
even name the state bits (lokal and global ones) to keep track of them.
+ By selecting a command from the combo box and pressing SET a new
line will be inserted. You can select more than one line and make
clipboard operations on them.
+ NEW is that you can save (and load) lines of code to a simple text
file on disk, so you can build up a codelibary for easy reusable
pieces of code.

So have fun and mail me problems or bugs (Marcus.Koenig@...)

Hi Carl,

To contact Shadow92, go to the below URL:

http://gamesource.groups.yahoo.com/group/DragonBaneII/message/2362

find the underlined link and click on REPLY. This brings up a web
form. At the top is a TO: box, you can select any of the following:

DragonBaneII@yahoogroups.com
"shadows92"
DragonBaneII-owner@yahoogroups.com

Select "shadows92". Enter you thoughts in the body of the message.
The body already has his original post quoted. When done, at the
bottom click on the SEND button. This will use the yahoogroups.com
server to sent a email to Shadow92. Instead of using
DragonBaneII@... in the FROM: field of the email, it will
contain your full email address. Shadow92 can reply to this email
for private discussions. Yahoogroups.com does uses the three dots to
prevent email addresses from falling into the wrong hands.

As for gold, go to the below URL:

DBane2Ed.zip by Brian Ellerker (
http://www.geocities.com/brian_ellerker/ ) allows you to "Cheat by
altering the Gold available to your party. Now also supports Princess
Demelza adventure!"

Sorry if most of my response was over your head. For the last few
years I have been working on Technomagic University (Note 1) using
the Dragon Bane 2 Adventure Construction Kit (DB2ACK). Instead of
editing the run code file for Technomagic University (TMU) with a hex
editor, I simply change the source code itself using DB2ACK.
However, you cannot use DB2ACK without the source code. The only
source code currently available does not include
the "maps"/ "levels"/ "adventure" (.MAP files) for Dragon Bane (MSDB)
or Dragon Bane 2 "Return of Kra'an" (MSRK). So instead of changing
the source code, Shadow92 is changing the run code file. If
Mythological Software ever releases some, or all, of the the .MAP
file source code for MSRK, I or Simon (Note 3), can answer each of
your questions using DB2ACK and the source code.

Character class is a number from zero to 31, see DB2ACK for a list of
classes.

I can only give you educated guesses about how to change the run
code. For example, I do not know how the items are stored in the run
code file. However each item has a resale price. Charged items
resale for less money the more charges are used (Note 2). My guess
is that somewhere in the run code file is number of current charges
and number of starting charges. Thus if you use half the charges you
get half the resale value. If you are using a hex editor on the
starting charges, it will not effect the current number of charges,
but simply lower the resale value. So if a wand has 20 current
charges and 20 starting charges, if you change starting charges to
40, the items still has 20 current charges. Hacking run code files
using a hex editor usually take a lot of patience (Note 4).

Note 1) Technomagic University is an adventure using technology
assisted magic. The other three means of progress are technology,
magic and magetech (magic assisted technology). For example a
techomage may use a electric stove and a stainless steel cauldron to
brew a love potion. A Magetechie might use a light spell to run a
solar powered laptop.

Note 2) In MSDB it was common to use all but the last charge and
resell the item for the full resale price. MSRK fixes this problem.

Note 3) Simon created the "Princess Demelza" adventure (SSPD).

Note 4) While I do not know how Mythological Software views these
discussion, most software companies frown upon people hacking into
their run code files. If you are bored and have time, you might
download DB2ACK and try and make a simple two level dungeon. If I
finish TMU, I want to make some simple two level dungeons. Without
Mythological Software releasing some or part of its .MAP files, even
a two level dungeon is a lot of work.

There are several other PDA games out there, including Kyle's Quest
2, that also let you create your own adventures.
