Thanks Craig,
I have found the walkthru (msg #1674) and read the solution to the
snare... I must admit I wasn't even close...

Hi,

If you want to test a Date sensitive mapsquare, for example:

----Begin Mapsquare----
MOTION SCRIPT

01: DAY OF MONTH 01 15 005
02: JUMP IF CLEAR 003 009
//
03: POPUP TEXT 0133
04: BREAK
05: DAY OF MONTH 16 30 014
06: JUMP IF SET 003 009
//
07: POPUP TEXT 0134
08: BREAK
//
09: GIVE OBJECT 0071 013
10: STATE TOGGLE 003
//
11: POPUP TEXT 0085
12: BREAK
13: POPUP TEXT 0086
14: END
----End Mapsquare----

----Being Text_game----
85 MSG_FOUND "##@c FOUND A @o."
86 MSG_FOUND_NO_ROOM "##YOUR PARTY FOUND A @o, BUT HAS NO ROOM IN ITS
INVENTORY."

133 POP_NOTE "THE TREE IS LOADED WITH ALMOST RIPE FRUIT.##TRY BACK
THE 17TH"
134 POP_NOTE "THE TREE IS LOADED WITH ALMOST RIPE FRUIT.##TRY BACK
THE 2ND"
----End Text_game----

You need to be able to advance the date. Load the Debug Version of
Dragon bane and your adventure. Face an EMPTY BUILDING mapsquare
(not the mapsquare you are trying to test) and type in "date" (the
debug cheat). Select 7:30p, click OK, then have the party enter the
EMPTY BUILDING, select SLEEP. The party will wake up the next day.
Repeat as necessary. When you wrap around to the 1st of the month,
you can double check by clicking on the date. It should say "Day 30"
the first time you wrap around to the 1st.

Once I have the date I want, I usually save the game. Then I go to
the mapsquare I am trying to test.

Dear Simon,

I took your advise and went back to the Lair of Enchantment trying to find 7,28 but it does not seem to be there! I could not find an exit point at all and had been all over the place, I feel like such a dumb. The bottom half has no quadrants in the map at all. Please, I need your help again.

You're probably going to need to read the walkthru.
The jist of what you need to do is:
Step One: Go talk to the first monk.
Go to the first room.
Go talk to the second monk.
Go to the second room.
Go talk to the first monk.
Go to the third room.
Go talk to the second monk.
Go to the fourth room.
Go back to step one and repeat the cycle three full times.
The exit will open.

Hi Jasper,

If you're close enough to Kra'an to attack and miss with the
incomplete Dragon Bane (vs. too far away), then that should be enough
to run away to go back to Helix. Sounds like you have - you should
try going back to Helix now to see if you did.

You actually cannot do any damage to Kra'an with the incomplete
Dragon Bane. Helix should help you move forward in fighting Kra'an.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Graham,

The flask in in the Crypt 2 level (around 8,14). If you had the
skull, it's hard for me to figure out where you've been. I suggest
looking at Larry's walkthrough in message #1674 to see if that will
help point you in the right direction.

Cheers,

It's open ended. You can go as high as you like. However, once you get over 999 points (HP or MP) the software has a little trouble keeping them over 999. The game still works but there is not much point in going higher since the game "randomly" will knock you back to 999 at various points.

Once a character reaches 123rd level, experience points become
unstable in the Dragon Bane 2 Engine (DB2E).
When I usually fight KRA'AN now, it is 14th or 15th level.

For the last three maps, I usually just use STEALTH and ignore
monsters. They are either too hard to kill or not worth the
experience points to kill them.

KRA'AN has an AC of -8. If you are 18th level your base to hit is
50% (before item accuracy modifiers). At level 27th your base to hit
is 95% (your maximum. This can be reduced by item accuracy
modifiers). At 32nd level your spellpoints max out at 999 (for
mages) and your hit points max out at 999 (for fighters). Several
people have finished "Return of Kra'an" (MSRK) with only one
character. They usually use the DWARF or the THIEF. You will have
to ask them what level they find optimum for finishing the adventure.

Note: If you are 5 levels higher than the monsters, they will hide
from you. After 18th level most of the high experience point
monsters start hiding from you. Only the hard to kill/ low
experience point monsters remain. The trick is to save you character
before entering the review council. Enter the review council and see
what level you would be. Reload the game from before enter the
review council. This allows you to continue fighting monsters (they
only care about your current level not your experience points) until
you reach the uber-level you are trying to reach.

Hi dragon96_2003,

The first time I beat KRA'AN my party was all 18th level. Now they
are usually all 14th or 15th level.

Several people on this forum have defeated KRA'AN using a single
character such as a lone THIEF.

You can search the archive on Yahoo! Groups for more information.
The file section also contains the Walkthrough including hints on how
to defeat KRA'AN.

My latest post on how to beat KRA'AN was Msg#1744

3) Normally when I play MSRK I just cast STEALTH for the last 3
levels (even when I played it for the first time I cast STEALTH for
the last two levels). All the monsters are too hard for the
character levels gained and GUARDIANs are just bad news. I wanted to
remove GUARDIANs from wandering monster status and place a pair
guarding each dragon key lock so the player would have to fight at
least 4 GUARDIANS - but could go back and heal after each fight. He
would not run into 6 GUARDIANS travelling between the portal from NEW
TRELEON and the dragon key lock. Fixed GUARDIAN encounters would
also allow STEALTH to be used for it's most useful function - fleeing
to NEW TRELEON when seriously hurt - instead of the alternate use -
only fighting monsters when you feel like it.

If you give POE enough experience to jump straight to 32nd level, he
has 999 spell points (Note 1). So for all intents and purposes 32nd
is the highest level an adventure designer has to plan for (Note 5).

Character level

Does anyone know how high you can get the character levels up to? At
what point is it worth calling a halt to killing everything in sight
and getting on with the game?

many thanks

Graham.

Michael... You won't get to the hut from anywhere on the moors....

There is only one way to this hut & this is underground from the lair of
enchantment at 7,28.

However, if you are in the moors & can see the hut, you will know if the
pathway through the lair of enchantment is available because a message
should appear if you walk into the tree at 5, 50.

Good luck...

I just did an archive search, and it didn't help, so I'm asking the
group at large.  It's probably something blatantly obvious that I'm
overlooking, but at the moment, I'm stumped.  I completed the first
quest, and got Unger's figurine.  It's got to be Helix blocking me
out with fog in the NW corner of the map, but how do I get to him?
It appears that I've searched out the entire rest of the map, I can't
get into any of the three places in the south, or the palace-type
building in Talon Cloister, the old man didn't do anything when I
went to him with the figurine, nor did Thsspok.  What am I missing?

Thanks

Justin

Hi Justin,

Actually, the fog blocking the NW part of map is a different puzzle later in the game. To reach Helix, he is actually in the forest just west of New Treleon. If you have the figurine, then you should be able to get to Helix. It may be that you haven't talked to the King at NT yet. Do this first, then this should open up the way to Helix. Just go to the Wilderness (about 43,23), and you should meet the guide Jasper who will help lead you to Helix.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need more help.

Cheers,
Chris Kim

Hi there,

The best solution is to go to an inn at New Treleon and check in one of your party (that does not have the vault key), and then check out one of the characters not in the party. Give that non-playing character the vault key. Have the non-playing character check back in to the inn and check out the playing character. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Chris Kim

Hello Craig.

Demelza does not require a serial code. You only require the registered
version of the adventure. However, if you are playing an unregistered
version of the actual game, then even the registered adventure of Demelza
will only play through the first three levels.

Mythological can supply you with your registration number if you have lost
it & I can re-supply you with a registered copy of Demelza once you advise
me of the email address you purchased Demelza under.

Can someone help me get into contact with Salo Software about getting
a new serial code for Demelza?

I 'think' I need it, thougth I still have the .PDB and can load the
Demelza game in DB2's Demo mode.

I've had to contact Mythological for the same problem with Dragon Bane 2.
I awair a return email.

It is going to suck (a little) to have to restart Demelza. :P

Thanks for your help.

I can be reached quicker (please) at LostProphetNOSPAM@...

Very cool. Not use to service like that. :D
