Thanks, I didn't want to reload and miss getting my unidentified
items. I found that I could retrace and the going was short and easy
and I actually picked up a few items.

Now I'm stuck back in the grove trying to find a way into the
necropolis. I would imagine it has something to do with the
Headlands Taverne???

Wow. My DB II team is now at Level 16 and has entered the castle. These guys are getting too powerful. Is there someplace in the castle where they can sell stuff they don't want and get things identified? I have pretty much explored it (exclusive of the garden) but didn't find anyplace. I have loaded a lot of stuff on one of the characters in the Inn to hold for the team.

Very tough but enjoyable game. (Especially for long commuter rides,

I made it through the Lair of Pits and visisted Helix and went to the
hidden area. Then I teleported to town and visited the healers and
leveler and went to the old man in the fairgrounds to have him
identify some items. When I teleported out of the fairgrounds I
erased the automatic return to Lost Island. Do I have to go all the
way back through the Lair of Pits to get back to helix's teleporter?

Thanks.

Great job, Bill. I too am starting DB2 again - been so long from the beta days. I finally have a color Palm - the game is so much different visually with the color. Now I understand time of day and night (before I had to look on the map in greyscale).

Sorry if I misunderstood you. You do run into these kids who think that figuring out ways around the system is clever. I apologize for thinking that was what you were saying.

I certainly agree about Tesser. He is indispensible. I think I might be able to build a team without Caleb, but not without Tesser.

I find in my second run through that I can turn all my magic users into archers. This is particularly useful for Poe, who is pretty important but who has absolutely no offensive skills. But I have all three major magic users on my team, and they all double as archers, so at times there are crossbow bolts going every which way in these battles. I find that gives them a way to contribute without using up spell points during battles, or the ends of battles, when the big offensive spells are really overkill and I want to save those spell points for the next battle.

I can see what you mean about the game getting really linear. After all, it is a pretty basic hack and slash situation basically. But given the limitations of the platform, it is amazing what the developers have managed. I need to go back to the original DragonBane at some point and replay that because there was one point where I always got stuck, and I never did finish it. I'll wait until I finish DB II and Princess D first, however.

Hi Gabe,

It looks like MONSTER 000 000 000 gives you the exact range you ask
for. If a monster summons another monster, it also gives you the
exact range. If you encounter a monster randomly, it seems to give
you 10-max, randomly. So far 20 ft, 30 ft and 70 ft give you shorter
ranges. I do not know if it is evenly weighted between all possible
distances or heavily favored towards the range you ask for. I know
number of monster groups appearing is heavily weighted towards 1
group.

I have not tried 40 ft, 50 ft or 60 ft.

Betreff: [DragonBaneII] First message in Demelza

Hi,

I just got to the Bartender at the 'Beer and Beefsteak' in the
Demelza adventure.  He said to go find a message near the west gate,
but after checking everywhere in Darion Grove, I could not find it.

I also went to the Sewers entrance on the far west side, but couldn't
find it there either.

Moreover, I checked both buildings south of Darion Grove but didn't
have any luck there.

Does anyone know where I might find the west gate and message?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Sincerely,
Nikhil Kulkarni

Hi Everyone,

I'm hoping that someone can help me!!

I seem to have been able to get through the east side of the
chambers, however I now keep going around in circles checking every
door and key hole without getting anywhere.

I have the black key in my possesion, but from reading the posts,
this key seems to be for another area that I missed and not the
chambers??

I have been to the Chamber of Surprise, Chamber of Dismay and I did
get into the Chamber of Horror once (can't seem to get there again).

This is the first time I have had to seek help as the answers are
always posted in this forum, but now I am really stuck.

I'm sorry that I don't have more information ... I don't remember
which keys I've had and which keys I still need.

Is there any keys in the cemetary that I have to find?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

TIA

Sue

Actually if anything I would like to slow it down some. The messages in the battle sequences go by so fast I can't read them. But the graphics are nice. Of course I still have my m515, and with almost everything else off it now I could use it as a game machine.

Dear Forum,

In the file MONSTERS.TXT the range can be from 1 to 7. However, I
keep having creatures with a range of 70 feet appearing closer. Is
the randomness evenly weighted, or is there a certain chance that the
creature will be closer than it's default range.

Does anyone know where I might find the west gate and message?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

1) Vault key: you don't need it for anything.

2) Soli key: it is on the Sewer 1 level that you reach after reaching a place in Sewer 2 (by solving the "If at first you don't succeed" puzzle).

See Larry Fluckinger's very helpful walkthrough (lots of spoilers - use if you need more help) in article #1674.

OK , after a year or more away after completing Demelza Ive decided
to play it again and Ive done the same daft thing. Ive just found
out Demelza is a traitor and have to go to the pub in the East of
the Marshes but Ive forgotten the password again. I did exactly the
same thing over a year ago ( see post 1517).
Can anyone email me the password or provide a very unsubtle clue
please.

Gee, congratulations on finding a way to cheat. Personally, I prefer to play the game and meet its challenges as they come. I also restarted the game, but I did it because I wanted to try out a different group of characters. My team of Caleb, Tesser, Mordor, Ensir and Poe are now up to Level 12, not through messing with the programming but through patience, hard work and careful strategizing. They are about to hit the graveyard and start that part of the adventure.

Having three magic users has its challenges. However, I have found that with some magical amplification to his agility Poe has become an effective second archer (Tesser is my main archer) while Mordor can wield a bone axe and magical weapons as well as serving as the heavy artillery when needed with his native abilities. Ensir both handles magical weapons for the heavier battles and uses spells such as Sun Sprite, which let him regenerate the spell points he uses, at other times.

I don't think I need your method.

There are even some special items that you can only use by editing
your game file this way! (Such as 'light lite full armor and

a torch again, and it's a lite full set of armor that cannot be
