I'm stuck at the part in Crypt #3 where it says something
about "...only a blind man can find..." It's where I'm supposed to
get the skull.

#1. I have made sure any light or owl eye spell has worn off (except
the moving eyeball, which never goes away under any circumstances
[Greater Revelation?])

#2. I have unequipped everything on every character. The screen
looks mostly dark.

Could this have anything to do with the fact that:

A: I explored this area with a light spell on initially?

B: The eyeball never leaves my dungeon view since I've started the
game?

C: A first dungeon attack (level 1) or something caused my
Necromancer to get 6400 spell points (now down to 5800)?

If B, how do I remove that swinging eyeball icon?

PS, if I cast a spell which gains my Necromancer spell points, he
looses all that wonderful cache.

PPSS, note to programmers, a feature to be able to save or exit the
game in the middle of melee would be a nice feature for those of us
that get interrupted frequently.

Thanks,
Byron.

Caleb is in the #1 spot and the spears were equipped. The other guy
is in #2 spot, he has one jewel.

They had 6 or more items and they were the long spears.

Also, my character names, the theif's name now begins and ends with
a square box in place of the charcters. Also, the Necromancer's
first letter is now a box.

That's helpful -- we will investigate the code for that trap, but
there are so many combinations of possibilities, it will still be
very difficult to reproduce -- even if that trap is the cause.

It may depend on having a certain number or combination of of items
with certain attributes (equipped, unique, droppable, identified, or
not). Is it possible for you (or anyone else) to say for sure:

- what slots in your party were the characters who got the jewels
(I.e. was CALEB in slot 1 at the time)?
- What slots in your inventory did the jewel appear when you first
noticed it?
- Are you sure that it was spears that were replaced -- if so, were
they equipped at the time, and was there anything else special about
them (unique, etc)
- What else can you remember about the inventory of the character
when you first noticed the jewel -- number, type, attributes, and
order of items, etc?

Thanks,
Jason

Caleb has 2 of the Jewels, and Tessor has 1 or 2. I think it may
have to do with the part of the Lords Lair #2, when it says
something about you feel lighter. Anyway, it took me a while to get
past this part, and I kept noticing the jewels pop up and replacing
my Spears.

Hi Nancy,

The Moderator isn't allowing the discussions per se. The posts re: political
discussion are the equivalent of spam posts. I think Jason or Gabe
(Mythological Software) addressed this earlier in that it is impossible for
them to filter out legitimate vs illegitimate users on the Group -
therefore, once a spammer joins the group - these posts come up.

Just ignore them.

Cheers,
Chris Kim

Dear Bkarsh123 [original Msg#1993 -- ant HTML link -- at end of post
after repost of Msg# 1913, 1909 & 1178 -- and related HTML links]

I am not an employee of Mythological Software.

The Dragon Bane 2 Engine (DB2E) does not have attributes like most
RPG's, instead it has skill levels. For example: CALEB has melee
item skill level 23 (strength), magic item skill level 9
(intelligence), projectile item skill level 12 (dexterity) while
WYTHERA has melee item skill level 13 (strength), magic item skill
level 10 (intelligence) and projectile item skill level 23
(dexterity). You could lower the attributes without effecting game
balance -- see Msg#1913 below -- but not raise them. To use your
Bard's Tale example, you could think of them as already having all
attributes at maximum.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. People here on
the forum are friendly.

Sincerely yours
NEFTF

Msg 1913

Dear Patrick [original msg#1909 -- and HTML link -- at end of post
after repost of msg#1178 -- and HTML link],
...
I like your idea of randomly generated characters, however, the
Dragon Bane 2 Engine (DB2E) is not designed to support random
character attributes, especially STR, DEX, INT, and STA. I am
reposting msg#1178 below where I discussed the issue with Simon --
random treasures and increasing character attributes, especially STR
and DEX.

Who can use equipment in DB2E depends solely on each character's
attributes (Note 1) -- see below msg#1178 about HATCHETS and
BUCKLERS. Because of this, each class starts with maximum STR, DEX,
INT, and STA (Note 2). Without upsetting game balance, you can
randomly generate lower attributes, but randomly generating higher
attributes unbalances the game (Note 3) -- see below msg#1178 for
random STR +1 and DEX +1 treasures.

Several spots in "Return of Kra'an" (MSRK) give you limited assess to
potions and fruits that give you +1 to STR, DEX, INT, and STA.

There are several ways to add random character generation to DB2E,
however, STR, DEX, INT and STA are crucial to game balance.
...
Sincerely yours,
NEFTF

***********************
***********************

Note 1) For those familiar with Dungeons and Dragons (1st, 2nd, 3rd
editions), D&D gets around this problem by using class restrictions.
For example a necromancer is barred from using full plate and a
fighter is barred from using a wand of healing. In DB2E a
necromancer gets full plate at a later level than a fighter. A
fighter gets to use a wand of healing at a later level than a
necromancer. STR goes knight 23, dwarf 19, thief 14. This means a
dwarf has to be 4 levels higher than a knight to use the same armor.
A thief has to be 9 levels higher to use the same armor. DB2E just
gives fighters higher STR, archers higher DEX and Sorcerers higher
INT.

"Note 1" also avoids the issue of weapon to hit and accuracy. Items
like armor, elemental conjuring devices and defensive spell devices
do not need to hit for them to be useful.

Note 2) In D&D you often roll 3d6 -- average 10.5 -- for each
attribute with a maximum of 18. DB2E gives every character 18s in
all attributes, then adjusts for class/race. DB2E combines
class/race into the class of the character.

Note 3) In D&D this would be the same as giving everyone in a 1st
level adventure straight 18's then adding a random 1d8 levels to the
characters. Remember, with saved games, in DB2E you can keep
rerolling until you get a character you like. If it was D&D this
system would cause lots of straight 18's characters that were 9th
level slaughtering lowly 1st level monsters.

SPOILER

1) You need to find an addition to your party. It's not a matter of
strength as much as you need this person as part of the puzzle.
(Another hint see below)

2) Try the fair on weekend for someone to join your team
(Another hint below)

3) You need the strongman (forgot his name)

Cheers,
Chris Kim

I enjoyed it! Like the fountains for hints and many other
features. I'm glad there was NOT a complete walkthru available as
it forced me to really see how the various puzzles functioned. My
only complaint is that Darion Grove was more complex to navigate
through than I'd have liked. Other than that, a very enjoyable game.

I'm new to this forum and am wondering if there has been any new
adventures since Princess Dezelma or if any adventures are coming out
soon.
