Yes, I recommend you dump Gyrko and pick
up Poe. Poe can use knives, bows and other magic weapons to provide some
offensive capability, but his real value in extended engagements is as a medic.
If you think you’re having trouble getting through this level with your
current team, just wait until you’re faced with your team members being
poisoned and made insane.

That is essentially the party I had, except, instead of Heric I had
Poe. It has been so long I do not remember any levels, but I would think
that party would work. And Caleb should have Near Foe (L2 spell).
