RE: [DragonBaneII] URLs for TMU & Dragon Blossom OSI

Started playing Saexgryth. Great adventure! Love the new graphics, weapons &
characters. I can see William put a lot of work into this. The tribute to
the Challenger space shuttle is nice as well. The way you can set your own
difficulty levels & even commence at another point in the adventure by
visiting the interiors is also another different idea.

It really is quite surprising how different Dragon Bane Adventures can be if
you put some thought into adventure design. The whole game really is a
remarkable credit to Gabe & Jason who designed an amazing game engine and
adventure construction kit enabling hours of play in RTK and giving people
like William & myself the opportunity to design adventures like Princess
Demelza set in the medieval Dragon Bane environment right through to
Saexgryth set in a brand new futuristic university campus environment.

William's adventure is called Grimflaed and it takes place as described
above in a brand new futuristic university campus environment William calls
the Techno University. The game is available in 3 "flavors". Dragon Blossom
is a limited version of the full game that he has released and is completely
free so long as you don't mind using black & white graphics. Personally you
are better off spending the $10.00 and purchasing the colour graphics which
make Dragon Bane the engine seem all brand new & fresh again. Now for
another $5.00 you can purchase a larger version of the same game called
Saexgryth. This is what I am currently playing and the game really is quite
clever and most importantly completely different to RTK or PD. So I think
this $15.00 is well spent.

Now there is a third version of the game which is the full version called
Grimflaed which William has not finished as yet which is the complete
adventure from Dragon Blossom right through. I initially expressed concern
that if you tried the free Dragon Blossom then wanted to upgrade to
Saexgryth then upgrade again to Grimflaed you would always have to restart
because saved games are not transferable between adventures.

However William assures me that you currently will only have to restart
between the free Dragon Blossom & Saexgryth. Very cleverly between Saexgryth
& Grimflaed you can upgrade & the Grimflaed upgrade will emulate where you
would have been up to had you completed Saexgryth. (Character levels,
monster densities & I guess he will reveal maps that would have been
completely exposed by this stage?)

It appears William has also got around the registration limitation in the
Dragon Bane engine in that you can only either publish a demo or full
version of the adventure - not a full version with a license key. I haven't
seen this yet but apparently when you get to the level in Grimflaed that
comes after you would have completed Saexgryth you will be asked for a code.
You then supply William with the reference code & he will return you an
unlock code. The only problem with this is that you need a new unlock code
every time you restart & only William can supply it. So if he gets run over
by a bus or defeated (killed) by rat lad we can never play the registered
version of Grimflaed again!!

Seriously, this license idea is a good innovation as look what happened to
me - I have only published PD on 3 sights yet it is available for sale in 27
different languages on over 200 sites world wide! Anyone wanting to market
PD just has to purchase 1 registered version and away they go.

It would be good if the DBII ACK did have some facility for a license key. I
estimate I would have lost a few thousand dollars so far through illegal
sales.

Once again - congratulations William on a job well done!

Regards,

Simon Jacobs
