Actually the answer to the specific questions is:

There is no sewer key. You get a replica of it from the leader of Talon Cloister, after you have freed Unger by talking to Helix. You have to finish the King's first quest to be able to talk to Helix and free Unger.

It isn't a graveyard in the NE part of the map. The graveyard is somewhere else and its key will not get you past those trees. To get past the trees you'll have to perform the quest you get from the leader of Talon Cloister.

But if you're doing that, you're *not following your current quest*. The
King starts you off with a specific quest - to investigate a problem
(which leads you into the cellars in town). [Talk to bartenders, and bribe
the one the king told you to, and check out all the buildings] - you don't
need to leave town for the first quest. Once that is done, the king gives
you a second quest. When you do that, you get directions to do something
specific, where you get the sewer key and you can go forward. Once done
all that, you get into the next step, which lets you into the area on the
upper left. The Graveyard is much later on, and you'll get the key at the
appropriate time.

What's your current quest? (The king will repeat himself any time you
want to hear what he said last time)
